I purchased a deal through Yelp for a session through Sunflowers Healing and Wellness. I had been having issues with anxiety and wanted to try something new to get rid of the problem. I noticed many of the reviews were for pregnant women (hynobirthing), but I figured I would give it a shot anyway since Lindsey came highly recommended. I figured if she couldn't help me, she would let me know. I didn't want to waist time so I made my appointment the same week so that I wouldn't chicken out. The whole idea of hypnosis can be a bit unnerving especially to someone with my nerves. I arrived at my appointment and immediately noticed the laid back calm atmosphere. Lindsey is professional and has a good aura about her. I noticed immediately that I felt comfortable around her. I had a 60 minute session and walked out feeling relaxed. I've seen Lindsey Vick now a couple of times (my last appointment was on January 15, 2015). I have used hypnotherapy in the past. However I hadn't been able to find a good practice since I had relocated to DC. Lindsey is the real deal when it comes to this type of alternative therapy. Lindsey is also very friendly and I can't imagine anyone feeling uncomfortable around her. My only complaints with Sunflowers Healing and Wellness (and it has nothing to do with the business but rather the location) is the lack of parking if you plan on seeing Lindsey after 5 pm. I wish Seva Café (which you have to walk through to get to the office) was good. I went for coffee and snack after my appointment and was very disappointed. Although, Lindsey does everything to make her office comfortable from offering you beverages to colored lighted (to help you relax) the other offices around her can make noise (which can make it hard to concentrate when you're trying to focus). Overall I have enjoyed my visits to Sunflower Healing and Wellness (and Lindsey) and plan on continuing as long as I can. read more

I cannot imagine our birthing experience without Lindsey Vick. We were lucky enough to have Lindsey recommended to us by a friend who use to be a doula in the area. I am a yogini and have been working for several years on leading a mindful life. I wanted a natural, intervention-free (if possible!) birth. It was important to us to have a doula who supported and worked well with us and these ideas. We interviewed Lindsey and one other doula but knew, almost immediately, that we wanted Lindsey. She was (and is!) warm, knolwedgeable, and has a great capacity to hold space for others. In addition to being a doula, Lindsey is a Hypnobirthing teacher and we were able to join her class. From these classes we gained valuable information on the birthing process, how to prepare our minds, bodies, and spirits for the birth of our baby AND felt empowered to ask questions of our medical providers and say "no" or "not right now" when needed. I have friends who share birthing stories in which it sounds like they were bullied by their providers. That was never our case, in large part thanks to Lindsey, and I have only the best memories of my birthing experience. One anecdote to hopefully convey the giving and healing spirit of Lindsey - The second night home from the hospital my husband collapsed and was taken to the emergency room in an ambulance. I was told to stay home with the baby by the EMTs. It was 3 in the morning and I called Lindsey. Her phone was on the fritz and she wasn't able to answer my call but she called me back immediately. Upon hearing what happened she came over and stayed with me and the baby (calming both of us) until my husband was home. I don't know what I would've done without her. My husband and I took a hypnobirthing class from Lindsey - and we were impressed by and grateful for all the techniques, knowledge, and research she shared about the birth process. Her class is the perfect mix: evidence-based and effective! I know you're on here wondering if hypnobirthing works. I took the class in my 2nd trimester and I have to say that yes it works. Hypnobirthing helped me go through pregnancy and labor without fear and this is coming from someone who was terrified of everything medical. The program is filled with affirmations so that you feel comfortable with it all. My learned calm breathing helped me through the many blood tests, shots and doctor visits that a healthy pregnancy entails. Was my birth the blissful, pain free birth I was expecting? Nope, but the hypnobirth class taught me to relax and be ok with everything even if it meant changes to my birth plan. I will also credit hypnobirthing with my very short pushing phase. As for the class, it's very comprehensive, there's a lot of homework involved and it's long. Three hours in the evening after a long day of work as a tired pregnant lady was a lot. The weekend class might be better in that aspect, but it was also much more crowded. I found some parts of the class to be overally hippie for me, not sure if it was all part of the hypnobirthing curriculum or just info the instructor Lindsey Vick added. However, I sincerely recommend this class. I think that Lindsey is great. She's a very knowledgeable doula with tons of info on natural births and I personally found all her info on spinning babies to be really helpful. read more

I am so glad I found Sunflowers to help me through my first birth. In fact, I hardly want to imagine the experience during these difficult times of the pandemic without the support I received in both their hypno birthing class which I took privately with Lindsey and with Janna as my doula. I signed up later in the pregnancy but Lindsey accommodated me outside of her group class setting--if you can, reach out ASAP in your pregnancy, even if you're just several weeks in. So my backstory, I do have supportive family, but my sister who was most up to cheerleading lives far away, and my mom is more on the stoic side personality wise, a woman of few words, so I decided to hire help. Lindsey was easy to communicate with and learn from, booked but so responsive and made herself available. I will say, there is a lot of material to cover in the course, but when I felt shirt on time due to still working full time, Lindsey was reassuring helped me streamline. Very good hypnosis content applicable to areas of life outside birthing. For the birthing, Janna was very attentive and involved at all times, in a quiet way that helped me stay peaceful. I was shy at first but she was not overwhelming by any means. She was professional but relaxed and easy to trust under those conditions. Also huge item here: thank goodness Lindsey facilitated my switch from Inova Fairfax and The Physician and Midwives Collaborative to Inova Fair Oaks and Reston Womens Center. Nothing wrong with the former two, but they were not as conducive to natural birthing and did not offer a birthing tub. Using the tub at Fair Oaks, the only one available in Northern Virginia in February given the pandemic, and using hypnobirthing techniques made giving birth without pain medication so much easier! Not pain free but Iittle anxiety and felt that all of my wishes were respected, the midwife and nursing team did not rush me. I have zero regrets about my entire experience and appreciated Janna's following up with me in the weeks after. To cap it all off, at my 6 week OB follow up, my midwife asked who our doula was. She said, "don't get me wrong I meet a lot of good doulas, but she was fantastic! You can tell this woman's all in!" She asked me for her contact info and added it to RWC's recommended doulas list. Every time I see Lindsey, I walk out feeling relaxed, happy, and very light. I've had a lot of hypnotherapy and not all of it good. Lindsey is definitely good! Her office space relaxes you the minute you walk in the door. She is professional, yet warm and caring, and you can tell that she is completely focused on you and helping you get better. I love that she offers her clients water after the session (not all hypnotherapists do that -- although they should) and that she plays soft music in the background. My husband and I were first time parents and pregnant/delivering during the COVID-19 pandemic. Needless to say we were nervous and disappointed we couldn't have our moms in the delivery room. However the hospital was allowing a doula in addition to one support person. It was a blessing in disguise because we found Lindsey and Sunflower healing and wellness. Even over FaceTime Lindsey's positive and calming energy helped ease our nerves for delivery, walking us through different scenarios to develop birth preferences. Lindsey was supportive of all of our choices and encouraged us to remain flexible. Her presence during labor was invaluable. She encouraged me to keep changing positions and talked me through several hours of active labor. Little touches like votive candles and essential oil scents made my labor somewhat bearable and a positive experience. I wasn't progressing and had to deviate from our "plan". I had purchased a Groupon with the choice of either two Reflexology or Reiki sessions. Not being familiar with Reiki and loving reflexology I went with the obvious choice, reflexology. Unfortunately, a few months later, I received an email from Groupon stating the reflexology was no longer available and could receive a refund at my request if I did not want a Reiki session. Never afraid to try something new I made the appointment. My practitioner, Lindsey, was very nice and easy to talk with. She answered all my questions, made sure I was comfortable and I must say I do feel better since our session. I hired Lindsey as my doula when I was pregnant with my second child. I also took her hypnobirthing classes. I thought the classes and the materials were fantastic. The fact that she prepares a folder with everything you need to practice the techniques at home, turned out to be very useful. The CD she gives to listen every day relaxed me so much and put me to sleep within minutes, which I absolutely loved since by the end of the pregnancy I was very uncomfortable and could not find a good position to sleep. She also gives a separate folder for her doula clients and based on the information she includes, I can tell she is knowledgeable in many areas of childbirth. I had my son on July-5-2014 and Lindsey assisted me during labor at the hospital. She did a really good job. I wanted to stay at home as long as I could before heading to the hospital to have the baby, therefore all the hypnobirthing techniques I learned in class came really handy while laboring at home and to keep me calm before the "real contractions" started. Lindsey is also very professional and is able to take any constructive feedback in a positive way. Another thing I found very useful was the fact that she knows other professionals and is able to recommend someone based on other services you may need (like postpartum massage therapist, chiropractor, placenta encapsulation, etc.) I highly recommend Lindsey and I am glad I took her classes and hired her as my doula. I meant to write this sooner because I had really fantastic experience with Lindsey. In September 2014, I made an appointment for hypnosis. During that time, I was under a considerable amount of stress and was waking up around 2:30 am every single night with anxiety. The lack of sleep was really taking its toll on my mental well-being and overall health. After the first appointment, I had a recording of my session that I listened to every night before falling asleep. I made a follow-up appointment where we focused more specifically on one area in my life that I wanted to improve upon. The benefit of those sessions was immediate. When I got pregnant last year, Lindsey was the first and only doula I met with before deciding she was the one for me! Unfortunately that pregnancy ended in miscarriage soon after; but when I became pregnant again this year Lindsey is the first doula I called! She is nonjudgmental and doesn't push any personal agenda - she is pro-mom and wants to work with you to achieve the birth that you desire. This was my first hypnotherapy session and I was quite nervous of the unknown. After meeting with Lindsey for 10 minutes, my nervousness subsided and I started to feel very comfortable. Lindsey's gentle spirit, soothing voice and warm/inviting demeanor made it very easy for me to relax and calm down. I could tell that she was the perfect person to help me. The hypnotherapy session was such an AMAZING experience. The different emotions I felt through out the session let me know that it was the real deal. I felt anxious at first and her guidance was able to help me get to a calm an relax state; then I was so relax that I felt as though I was floating on clouds (something I have never experience before when I mediate). When we started addressing my "problem" area, I felt my emotion turn a little sad, but as soon as she started to discuss positive affirmations, I felt a complete shift in my emotions to happiness, peacefulness and confidence. The shift was unbelievable and I felt an immediate change in my perception of my "problem" area. When the session was over, I felt so relaxed that I could hardly move and I felt a sense of peace.
