I leveraged Sunlight Contractors to install closed-cell foam insulation in my attic. I contacted Sunlight Contractors on a Tuesday afternoon and they sent over an estimator the following morning. The representative Sunlight sent over was Clayton Byrd. He showed up on time, was friendly, and quickly began to evaluate my attic for an estimate. I am an engineer by training and challenged Clayton with questions about the fundamental principles of heat transfer. Clayton demonstrated great working knowledge of the basics. He articulated clearly the pros and cons of the various insulation solutions and recommended a preferred path forward. He also went under my home to evaluate my subfloor for moisture and take detailed measurements for his estimate. At the end of his evaluations, the information he communicated matched what I expected and his preferred solution also aligned with mine. His final estimate was laid out with adequate supporting documentation and measurements. I had 2 other companies come out to perform estimates, but I chose Sunlight largely because of my interaction with Clayton. I was on a tight deadline, but Sunlight worked with me and sent a crew to execute the job over the subsequent weekend. The work team showed up on time and came prepared with all necessary tools and PPE (personal protection equipment). In addition, they laid down plastic to protect my floors and minimize mess. During the job, all workers wore their PPE. They worked well as a team, oftentimes dividing into sub-teams to efficiently execute the job. I was given access to the foam reactor to monitor chemical levels, drum temperatures & pressures, and took foam samples to ensure a consistent product. Throughout the job, I verified the applied thickness of the foam and helped look for application errors. The team finished the job in 2 days and cleaned up beautifully once the work was complete. They also left exhaust fans to minimize the foam-curing smell in my house. Days later Sunlight sent over a technician to verify the completeness of the job, he came equipped with a thermal camera to look for imperfections in the thermal envelope and foam to fix those imperfections. The differences after the foam application were drastic and immediate. Before the start of the job, I took baseline measurements for reference. See the attached images. Heat pump run times before and after insulation, under similar temperatures were reduced by 50 percent. The same finding was observed when comparing two days with similar heat pump run times. Before the insulation, the heat pump ran for 8.5 hours and the average outdoor temperature was 66 degrees. After the insulation was installed, the heat pump ran for 8 hours but the average outdoor temperature was 58 degrees. I also took thermal images before and after. Notice in the before image the uniform temperature gradient from floor to ceiling. Essentially, no heat was being retained in the space. The thermal image after installation shows a clear gradient from floor to ceiling indicating that heat was being retained. I am writing this review in December of 2023 and there are several tax opportunities available to help offset the cost of the closed-cell foam insulation. Specifically, the "Energy Efficient Home Improvement Credit," has a tax credit of up to 1,200$/year for improving home insulation. Please read the specific Energy Efficient Home Improvement Credit requirements on the IRS website. In all, the job was very successful, and I would have no problem working with or recommending Sunlight Contractors. read more

I write this review to endorse Sunlight Contractors strongly and without qualification. Sunlight recently applied foam insulation underneath and in the attic of a small house I own. When I began my search I looked at several other companies as well, but none was as credentialed as Sunlight. There are stories of foam insulation being improperly applied, leaving homeowners with serious problems later on. I wanted a contractor who knew what he was doing; I wanted a professional. So confident in their product and service are the folks at Sunlight that they arm you with information and questions for use if you ultimately choose another, foam insulation provider. With any service or product, price must be considered at some point, but it probably shouldn't be the sole factor driving a purchase decision. For work of this nature, I usually toss out the most and least expensive bids. One doesn't always get what he pays for, but he rarely gets what he doesn't pay for...Sunlight's proposal was fair and reasonable. From the start, the company's professionalism was evident. I received a visit from a Sunlight inspector the very day of my initial inquiry, which led to a formal estimate the next day. From the beginning Sunlight's Ira Boschnack was constantly in touch, explaining the process, selecting the earliest convenient date and then alerting me immediately when an even earlier date opened up. In my 60 years, I have never purchased any product or service that resulted in the level of input and interaction I received from Sunlight. The Sunlight crew--Bruce, Kyron, Clayton and Braidon and Corey--arrived at exactly the established time the day work was scheduled. The work was expected to take up to four hours, yet the crew completed the work and cleaned up less than two hours from their start. The results of blower tests performed before and after the job confirmed that the insulation had tightened up my airy, older house considerably. I only wish foam insulation had existed when I first purchased it in 1985. One hears a great deal these days about renewable energy, but less about an equally critical piece of the clean energy puzzle, the construction of energy efficient houses and buildings or the retrofitting of those that are not. Sunlight is playing an important role in making the latter happen in southeast Louisiana. Again, I strongly endorse this company and cannot be more pleased with the service I have received. Post Note: The insulation was installed two days before two nights with temps in the mid-low 20s. In the past, with nothing but a tiny, ceramic fan heater, the temperature in the house the next morning would have been in the 30s. It was 60 degrees and, to boot, the house is quieter and the floor feels more solid. read more

Amazing! Sunlight Contractors provided superb, invaluable customer service and professional expertise; thinking, speaking, listening, working, and arriving at decisions with the owner of Sunlight Contractors, Ira Bosh, was a fantastic experience and radically improved my family's newly purchased home in New Orleans. When I first toured the inside of the home, while shopping for a home in New Orleans, I was struck by its open floor plan, simple beauty, and calm nature--the home truly has a great vibe. The fact that we also became genuine friends over the ensuing week-plus is an added benefit of working with an ethical, highly capable professional like Ira! Bottom Line. Ira Bosh, his talented foreman, and their highly capable technicians fulfilled all of their tasks in a truly exemplary manner. While doing so, they expertly completed the following actions: installed foam insulation, plywood flooring, and dehumidifier/air-purification systems in both attics; artfully installed wall-mounted control devices on the home's first and second floors; and reinforced the first floor with a 6"x6"x12' beam and three steel-augmented concrete pillars. They also conducted several additional actions without charging my family and me. These gratis actions included, but are not limited to: fixing several doors that did not shut smoothly; and installing a thermal dog door for my family's Australian Shepherd, so he could enter/exit our home without disrupting its newly established and incredibly stable, internal temperature and humidity levels. Sunlight Contractors best Spray Foam company in the South. This is my Second New Construction Home I have built in Mississippi and this is the second New Construction home I have had Sunlight Contractors install Spray Foam. The first home was about 4 yeas ago and I found Sunlight Contractors searching for hours on the internet and reading review's on many contractors. After talking to Ira several times, I was convinced I had found the company I had been searching for. When it came to the second home I contacted Ira again to get an estimate which he was happy to give me. I contacted several other Spray Foam installers and got my normal 4 Quotes for a Job. Some were less expensive than Sunlight Contractors but after talking to the other companies and there process I soon knew Sunlight Contractors was the only choice out there. I had some problems with the City Code inspector and was delayed 4 months after signing the contract before I was ready for the Installation. Ira stayed in contact with me the entire time and told me to let him know when I was ready for the installation. I contacted Ira on Friday that I was ready for install and he had the crew at my door the following Monday morning. I was looking for a contractor to do some spray foam insulation on my raised New Orleans home. After doing some research on Google the reviews for Sunlight Contractors made them the overwhelming first choice. Almost suspiciously so but I reached out for a quote and Ira called me back almost immediately. He is very knowledgeable and wants you to know exactly what they're doing and what you're getting into. After our phone call I decided to schedule an inspection and the technician was thorough and answered all of my questions. Sunlight is starting on our insulation project tomorrow. We were referred to Ira by our A/C company, as they share some of the same clients, and everyone always spoke highly of them. Sunlight contractors completed my insulation today. The crew arrived on time, they were professional, courteous, and got to work straight away. It was clear that they all knew their roles and they 'got on with it'. I returned once the work had been completed and my house was clean and tidy, as i had left it. My insulation was in my attic and under the house (raised house). The attic was quite astonishing when i first looked in. Everything was insulated (everything that should be insulated!). Its quite something to see really. The underside of the house was just as professionally done. Having insulation put in your house is not cheap. Whilst i cannot yet comment on the cost savings and comfort of living in my house (as insulation just put in today), i can certainly comment on everything else. Ira was just wonderful. Our 80 year old home was in significant need of insulation to keep a reasonable temperature in the winter and summer months. I called Sunlight Contractors, and they were able to meet with us very quickly to take a look at the house and offer advise. Sunlight were excellent to work with. Great communication and customer service. Technician even came out on a weekend to take measurements at our home. The installation process was quick and very thorough. My wife and I were shocked at the difference in our home following the installation. Our home is raised and renovated, but the original floor leaked cool/hot air, which made it impossible to regulate the house temperature. We have freezing floors in winter and cold spots all over the house. The night after the installation was the first time every room in the house was the same temperature. It is a very noticeable difference, and we're shocked at how much better the floors feel. No more cold spots, and no more squeaking or loose floor boards. Sunlight started on our spray foam insulation project today. They arrived on time, prepared, and ready to go. The first thing they did was they protected the walls and floors with dropcloths, which we really appreciated. Then came the difficult task of getting all of the old insulation out of the attic, which included 50 year old bat, topped by 10 year old fiberglass, topped by 1 year old cellulose. Needless to say, not an easy job, especially with the limited amount of space up there. Ira's crew worked efficiently and effectively to get everything prepped for the upcoming install, and even cleaned up everything and laid out the area rugs before pulling out. We chose sunlight because they presented the most professional and experienced portfolio that we could find. They came out and did a site survey and took all the time needed to explain the process and answer any questions we had. The owner kept in constant contact and quickly replied to any questions asked. They arrived with a crew of five and did a great job to cover any items with plastic that needed to be protected. They also taped off all outlets so that they would remain clean and accessible. I met a lady in Lowe's one day that used another company and she said that a lot of fixtures and switches were covered up and hard to find. Not with Sunlight! This is the third time that we have used Sunlight Contractors for different jobs and each time we have been very happy with the outcome. First of all, Ira, always answers the phone and he always knows who you are. Any questions or issues are taken care in a very timely manner and, he always call you back.
