    Spray foaming my roof
    Jessie K.

I live on the second story of a beautiful, but impractical, New Orleans home. The high ceilings and zero insulation on the roof lead to extremely hot temperatures during the summer. On a good day, my house would reach to the mid 80's. When searching for solutions, I found spray foam. I met with several companies and felt most confident and comfortable with Sunlight. They have been nothing but courteous, professional, timely, and most importantly, pay close attention to detail. We are only halfway through the project, but I look forward to the final results.

    Samantha C.

My husband and I recently purchased a raised home. During the winter we experienced cold floors and high energy bills due to the subfloor not being insulated. We did research and learned spray foam would be the most effective insulation solution. Because it was a big project, we requested quotes from several companies. Sunlight Contractors was way better than any other company we talked to for several reasons. Ira, on the first phone call was very helpful and knowledgeable. Clayton came out and inspected our subfloor the very next day. He discovered very high and problematic moisture levels in our subfloor. I knew this was a serious issue because the previous owners disclosed they had mold removed prior to selling the home. Clayton and Ira explained the process Sunlight Contractors would use to eliminate the moisture, insulate the home, and guarantee we would never have a moisture problem again. No other company was able to make such a promise or provide a method to eliminate moisture, making it a no brainer to choose Sunlight Contractors. Everything was put in writing. When work began, the crew was on time or early every day. By far some of the best service from a contractor we ever received. After the Job was done, Clayton came by to make sure the job was complete and spray foam was applied to every nook and cranny. The month after the job was completed, we noticed a significant decrease in our utility bills as a result of HVAC not working as hard to maintain a comfortable temperature. We recommend Sunlight Contractors for all moisture remediation and spray foam insulation needs.

Ira, called me back personally and gave me a very detailed run-down of the process and how it would all work.

The dog is a Golden Doodle, 26 lbs, and 6 months old. I have never owned a dog, so I just let it have free rein in a never used spare room. BIG mistake. Cairo began marking his territory on top of other mess making activities. Cairo is a puppy but he makes a big boys mess. I had no idea how to get the smell or stains out of the carpet. I only knew I did not want to clean it. I tried my best but I failed. I woke up to the smell/stains being way worse the next day. It was like I hadn't done anything. I tried to Google to figure out the mistakes I made but I got frustrated so I searched Yelp, then started a project on Yelp. Projects on Yelp allowed me to create a service request that I was able to initiate, customize, and manage in real-time. No automated phone answering systems or long wait time or holds! I was able to make immediate contact, explain the request, and receive a quote in a mater of minutes through chat within the Yelp app. I could even provide photos which eliminated the need for a site inspection. I put the description in as carpet cleaning, stain/liquid waste removal and within a few seconds multiple companies reached out to me. D&G sent me a message requesting information first. I spoke directly with the owner. After a few minutes I received a quote, was dispatched a tech, and was booked for a same day appointment only 45 minutes after initial contact. I was directly contacted via text by Ivan D. who provided tracking updates for the request that gave an introduction of the tech I was booked that included name and photo, an ETA of his arrival, and live updates of the job. I was thoroughly impressed. This was very convenient. This was fantastic customer service. I booked Shelton Frey, the man is a wizard! Shelton communicated with me well, was punctual and was very professional. He got the job done efficiently and quickly. He was thorough. The smell was eliminated and the carpet was cleaned and treated. I was even told what to do next time and what errors were made. I spoke with Shelton about other areas because I intend to use D&G for the foreseeable future.

My mom's toilet leaked, causing water to flood her bathroom and run into her bedroom closet. It was barely an inch of water. They attempted to charge her $3500 to suck up scarcely an inch of water. It was an attempt to take advantage of an older adult--shame on you, servpro, and your staff. I will NEVER use your company again. We found a reputable company that got the water up in less than 45 minutes and only charged $300.00. I am updating my review. I just spoke to the District manager KIM who HUNG UP on me when discussing why or how they came up with the price they gave my mom. This is the leadership servpro employed. Now I understand why they have shady practices; She was pissed because I did this review. She could not clearly explain why my mom was not given an option other than being charged $3500.00 for the work. She was so rude and unprofessional. Ridiculous. Imagine the District Manager hanging up in a customer's face! Like WOW!

I have had the opportunity to work with them twice, once to do a small dryer vent repair/installation and once to replace all my major appliances, upgrade my home's electrical breaker boxes and repair/install new outlets. Both times, their professionalism, frequent communications, and monetary value for services provided were second to none! During projects things sometime do not go according to plan, but this company takes immediate action to correct any problem and to make sure things are set right. I will give you an example, during my appliance replacement, the microwave that was ordered from a vendor in NJ (I believe) was delivered to these folks and had sustained obvious damage during the shipment...not caused by them, but man, before lunch, they had procured the exact same make/model from a local provider which made sure that they did not fall behind schedule; their problem solving was done seamlessly, and took away all my worry about this major project. Really cannot say enough good things about this team....they are my go-to contractor when I need their expertise...do yourself a favor and make them your go-to contractor as well!!

Thankfully, I wasn't stuck with them for the whole project. I have experience in renovation and historical restoration, and am detail oriented, and had high hopes for a successful professional relationship. On the plus side, they were always responsive to my communications, and seemed to understand what needed to be done. On the minus side, I don't know where to begin. All of the work, except management, on our project was handled by sub-contactors, not direct employees of Pokorn. Adding that additional layer of management inflated the cost of the job significantly. Too many generals, not enough soldiers. Their subs are of varying quality. For example, one subcontractor framed for a new closet in a way that partially obstructed an adjacent door because of a measurement mistake on the architect's plans. The sub didn't think "Oh look. Something's not right. I should ask how to proceed". They just went ahead and built it, even though the drawn plans showed no obstruction, necessitating tearing out the mistake and rebuilding. They also put the subfloors down in the bathrooms before the plumbing drain work was done. The plans clearly showed the fixtures being relocated within the rooms. Something else to tear out. When they removed the subfloor I saw that the bathroom vent duct for the bathroom below had very obviously been crushed (stepped on at the joist), which is why the bathroom vent below had no air flow. If the subfloor hadn't needed to be torn out, this air flow problem could have been difficult to diagnose and expensive to fix later on. Somehow all the generals didn't notice the substandard work. All these blunders would be comical if they weren't so frustrating. Pokorn did correct their mistakes after I pointed them out and asked them to, which is the only reason they got 2 stars. I should not have to do this work: it's their responsibility. Read their contract carefully before signing. It is written in a way that keeps too much power in their hands. They are strict about expecting payment within 72 hours of their submitting an invoice, even if they've screwed up and not yet corrected the work being invoiced. If you're late in paying, they can immediately stop work and require an extra $500 to start up again. You can make the payment "under protest", but then have to trust that they will fix the issue. To their credit, they always did, but I was upset that I had to trust a company that was messing up left and right. Why should this even have to happen in the first place? As is pretty standard, they ask for periodic payments as work progresses. They are the sole determiners of when a phase is substantially completed, which is not unusual, but ask for payment at a point when other contactors I've worked with (and I) would have considered the phase only partially completed. These examples do not exhaust the deficiencies or problems experienced during the short time I employed Pokorn. Let the buyer beware.
