Surely there's an award for best pub garden out there somewhere and this pub simply MUST win it!…read more Every Englishmen loves settling in for a good bank holiday session and this pub garden was the most perfect location for it. Set at the top of the little High Street in Bishops Castle, the view stretched for miles across the immaculate English and Welsh countryside. There is a vast amount of space, with lots of large tables for big parties and a stretch of grass where children and dogs ran freely, out of the way of the tables. The pub served lots of lovely locally brewed ales, my friends and I enjoyed many a Shropshire lad! Although I didn't have chance to sample the food, it smelt and looked delicious. I am now seriously considering moving to Shropshire.

We enjoyed our meals in the hotel, especially the full breakfast. There was plenty of room to sit and have lunch, tea or beer both inside and outside. Everyone was so friendly. Definitely with some of my favorite vacations and we'll be returning next time we're in Britain.

I especially made the trip to Ludlow to stay at this hotel and visit Ludlow Castle. While the exterior of Feathers is undeniably gorgeous, the interior was shabby in places, the wall-to-wall carpeting was stained and overall there was a distinct smell of old steamed food. In fact, the atmosphere at the Feathers was so creepy that we checked out after an hour and went to another hotel.

I've held off putting up this review for a couple+ months but it has to be done. If another friend…read moreof mine said she was having her wedding here I would groan and do my best to persuade her otherwise if you really have no choice don't take one of their wedding packages, organise the flowers yourself, find independent evening entertainment & alternative accommodation for you and your guests. The poor staff there try their best, they are so so sooooo dreadfully understaffed & so terribly unhappy in their working environment. The management has no skills in running a hotel, the staff are running around like blue a**ed flies, busy as heck & scared of the boss. This leads to an atmosphere you can cut with a knife. I was scared to complain for fear of making some poor girls working life even worse as I knew the manager would only kick off at the poor girl. So what's good about this hotel. It's been refurbished to a nice standard. Modern, leather, moody lighting etc etc you know the sort. The bedrooms are not up to the standard of the downstairs which is a real shame. The wedding meal was fabulous as was the breakfast. They must have amazing chefs in that kitchen as it was truly epic, it wasn't the budget option though. But for quality food you don't mind paying. It's well worth a trip to for dinner. Bottom line would I take my mum & granny there. Granny would love Sunday lunch but mother would give the managers a piece of her mind. Yes I would go there for lunch or dinner. No I wouldn't stay the night. No I wouldn't have an event there.

The other order was fish and chips. The plate held a huge piece of perfectly battered haddock fillet with side tartar. The chips were crisp and lightly oiled. Both lacked salt. The bottled water with lemon was a good too. We dined to Billy Holiday and Sarah Vaughn playing softly in the background and lively welsh banter between regulars at the bar. The chairs were comfy. The loo nicely appointed. A very nice English Day.
