My daughter went here for three years before entering a traditional elementary school, and it was truly a wonderful experience; we felt she was loved by the teachers and encouraged to use her voice and interests to grow and develop her own little self. The Montessori Method is the only way to go for pre-school, and this school embraced the method fully. My daughter's confidence, academics and social skills blossomed while attending. I loved that there is a parent observation room (with a mirror so students can't see you), and parents are welcome to observe any time. Whereas other preschools have rigid rules and policies, children at this preschool aren't punished or shamed for wanting snack when they are hungry; wanting to master a certain art project; and/or take responsibility for their actions. They encourage kids to be independent and master their interests before moving on to the next thing. I loved that the teachers are all parents themselves, and have been with the school for years and years. My child is now in Kindergarten and is excelling in academics and socially as well. Her Kinder teacher tells us she is focused, is beyond proficient in her reading, writing and math, and is known to all as a kind friend. I know much of that has to do with parenting, but also some of it is the fact that she attended the Montessori School. Thank you CMCH for three great years of pre-school!

I can't say enough positive things about our experience with Montessori. I had a difficult time initially understanding how the system would work. Without structured lessons, how can your child earn the necessities like reading and numbers? It turns out that by allowing my son to spend as long as HE wants on a given activity he has flourished and gone so much farther than I'd ever imagined a child his age could in the subjects that most interest him. He's working with numbers in the 10,000s and can complete geography puzzles that would have me stumped. He spent months sewing yarn on square canvases to create a box, a little bit each day. I'm astonished by the focus and dedication a child under 6 can have to a project when allowed to work on what they choose, instead of at the teacher's behest. It's been a truly eye-opening experience about education. We are definitely Montessori converts and our 2 year old will be joining in the Fall. All the teachers and staff members are kind and attentive with many years of Montessori experience. They've encouraged my son to learn while guiding him through the lessons at his pace. He's excited to show me his work and takes pride in his accomplishments. It's been an awesome experience.

Within the school is a Montessori program, free of charge as it is a public school, and it goes by the logo MCM (Middle Creek Montessori). I am blessed and pleased that I have this as an option for my children. There is no way we could have afforded to send our children to a private Montessori school. So for Shasta Elementary to provide this option is really a great thing. If you are not sure about the method I encourage you to research. I encourage you to stop by the school and observe. It is a beautiful small campus with a long and rich history (the oldest working k-8 school in CA).

I had her in Magnolia last year (6th grade) but the amount of bullying, amount of student swearing, lack of time to eat, & feeling of a prison had her crying & begging not to go to school everyday had me looking for other options. After talking to a friend who had a similar problem with her 4th grader and switched her last year to SMA with great success, I thought I would try it for my 6th grader. The difference was night & day! My 6th grader now loved school! She is challenged, gets to be creative and everyone is so nice! She still gets As & A+s and she is learning more than at Magnolia. SMA has a ZERO tolerance for bullying & swearing. My middle girl (9 years old now) was not doing well at Cottage Hill. She has ADHD & even though she was on medication, she seldom paid attention & often did not finish class assignments. Even though she went to Home Work club almost daily, I still had to re teach her what she was supposed have learned in class. I begged for an IDP or some help for her for 3 years to no avail. I can go on and on but I hope you get the picture. This year, she is pulled out for Brain Gym to help her focus & math & language arts to work in small groups. What a difference! My youngest was in Kindergarten at Cottage Hill last year. Her teacher was like a drill Sargent! No kidding! She yelled at the kids. My happy cheerful then 5 year old became depressed & hated school. I finally insisted that she change teachers & she did better. But I don't think she learned enough compared to my older 2 who had kindergarten at another school. Now, all my girls are at SMA and I could not be more pleased! My now first grader is all caught up & loves school! My girls cover the spectrum regarding learning & temperament & they are all succeeding SMA. SMA truly educates each child according to their needs. They truly care about each child and strive to ensure each child has the skill sets they need to succeed in school & life.

It will always remain one of the best things we did for our son (who's now 8 yo and in grade 2), we see the difference in him in so many tremendous ways and it started with this school. Our 2 year old daughter now goes there, there is no better school for them. Leslie who runs the school has been doing this for 40 years, the team of teachers are all so special and have been with her for such a long time. The energy of the school is priceless, it's calm, structured, dynamic and respectful, and I love that it lays this foundation for the kiddos. The way they teach and learn there really fostered incredible independence in both my kids, and invaluable confidence and a real true love for learning. I couldn't possibly have found a better foundation for my children, and I owe it to Leslie and her crew. I remember the first day I went and "observed" my son at school I was in tears, blown away at what he was able to do at such a young age, and so happy to see him in an environment that allows him to thrive in his unique individualized way, I love that it builds this competence in them while at the same time maintaining a structured respectful environment to also ensure kids learn respect and appropriate behaviors. Montessori Manor has been wonderful for our son in his first year of half-day preschool. He…read moreabsolutely loves all of his teachers and talks about them constantly. The Montessori program with its hands-on approach has been so good for him. His fine motor coordination skills have improved so much, and he's singing all the time now. The calm, prepared environment immediately put him at ease, and we've watched his confidence, focus, and independence grow every day. We especially appreciate Miss Leslie's leadership. As the director, she's created such an amazing program--her experience and passion shine through in how she trains the teachers and connects with every child. We're so happy he'll be returning next year for full-day. We're truly grateful for such a nurturing start to his education--highly recommend!

The third time is a charm because we've loved our time at Turkey Creek Montessori! When our second son was ready for preschool, we went straight back to that teal door. Both boys grew so much academically and emotionally under Ms. Amanda's guidance. I love that she supported them in their interests and in the way they like to learn. There is so much research and thought that is put into everything the kids do. This isn't a daycare, it's a quality educational program. The teachers are exceptionally qualified, and in tune with each individual child and their developmental needs. They are a true Montessori school. Every time I pick up my son he has learned so many new things. He is talking more, is happy, asks to come back, and is becoming a more independent, self sufficient, confident, well rounded child. Before attending this school we attended two other preschools (one was a co-op, and the other was a day care/ preschool). Neither of those programs were remotely as high of caliber as The Children's House. This school has really become a blessing for us as it provides an incredible amount of enrichment and exploration with individual attention and higher standards for our child. My only regret is not starting with children's house sooner!
