It seems only fair to write a review for this place, even though I didn't buy anything here, because of just how honest and friendly the assistant was. We were looking for bikes for both of our kids. We explained the sort of thing we were looking for, and she was totally honest about the fact they didn't carry that sort of thing (they are very mountain bike focussed), and actually recommended one of their competitors as a better place for us to go. So we did, and got what we needed there. So many shops think the right thing to sell you is whatever they have. On the upside Sunnyside provides excellent service on bikes and even do-it-yourself service. The fact they are open EVERY day is also a big plus. The staff is always helpful when I enter the store. I buy a new bike every year or so. I always give Sunnyside a chance to sell it to me. They unfortunately will not budge off MSRP. Not even by one penny. Even when I offer to pay cash and buy accessories. So I end up going elsewhere for the many thousands of dollars bike purchase. Their choice for sure, but I think short sided. read more

We were in town visiting and our sons TREK bike needed a broken spoke fixed. Sunnyside Sports was the 2nd bike shop we contacted to see if it could get fixed while on vacation. Sure enough they could fix it so we made our way down to the shop. We were greeted right away. We asked Steele who was helping us to also check the frame of the bike since the frame had damaged to it after a crash. The shop had a look over it and gave us their professional opinion that the frame was compromised and did not recommend doing any hardcore riding on it as it was a safety issue. As a mother I am so thankful we went in to get the spoke fixed and got this confirmation. Not thrilled about the outcome but better him be safe than sorry. In short I highly recommend Sunnyside Sports as they were more than professional. I only wish we were able to just walk in the store to shop around but understand due to the circumstances of COVID. What a great shop! Each person takes the time to make sure you know what you need and know how to use what you're buying. I've never purchased a bike from a shop where I was actually talked through everything I needed to know. They watched me test ride the bike and gave me a fitting. They taught me about the features that were different on this new bike compared to my old one. Also, the shop dog, Happy, loves playing catch and that was great fun. read more

This review is for the help we received when we stopped by to ask questions about renting snowshoes. The employee who helped us (sorry, didn't catch a name) was so thorough and patient. He put together the kids' sled that you can also rent to haul your young kids or belongings while snowshoeing. The store practices great Covid-19 precautions which is always a plus. Prices are very reasonable too. Once we're ready to snowshoe, we're going to rent from here. Also, in the summer we'll plan on renting mountain bikes here. read more

Worked in an immediate service, rather than having to purchase another bike tool (of which I already had 3 since I can't for some reason remember to pack in the tool box), so I perused & spent way more than intended - and the service for dum-dum was free! Paid over $200 for a supposedly full tuneup on my sons mountain bike. Nothing was checked no lubricant on any parts they replaced brake pads and chain which broke two weeks later during normal daily riding. Took it to the neighbors who routinely uses hutches and said tuneup was garbage. Do not waste your money. read more

I flew into Bend and planned to do some training only to find that my bike was damaged during the flight. The bike was packed in a hard case but, it seems TSA did not close it properly. Anyway, I took the bike to Sunnyside Sports. I did not have an appointment but, the staff was courteous and professional. They worked on the bike on the spot while I waited. I highly recommend Sunnyside. This was my second experience with this company. Two years ago I bought my mother a Trek from them. They treated her with total respect. read more

I came to Bend for a car show and brought my mountain bikes for a little riding while here and when I walked in to get trail advice from these guys and gals, everyone was busy helping customers. It was immediately after opening so I understand it was hectic. But in all the chaos, four employees went out of their way to acknowledge me and let me know they would be with me ASAP. Meandering around the shop, I took notice of the stock of parts and accessories Sunnyside keeps on the shelves. If you need a part in a hurry, chances are they have it in stock! They stock everything from budget brand parts up to top line tires, carbon bottle cages, handlebars, pedals, shoes, EVERYTHING! They carry a plethora of nutrition as well! The service area is right out in the open and the mechanics are super friendly and chat with you while they work. I hate nothing more than a shop that hides their mechanic work area and uses the "magic" method to fix bikes. It leaves the customer wondering what was actually done to fix their bike. The service work I saw come through the shop in the hour I spent there was all done quickly and at a more than fair price! Every customer was happy! After the morning rush died down, one of the guys happily walked me through my trail map and have me a good idea of what trails to ride. They even have a self serve tire filling station for customers to use. I run a bike shop in my hometown and it's good to see a shop operating by the same standards I strive to keep at my shop. If you are in town on vacation or a local, Sunnyside Sports is a great shop to take your bike to! I'll be sending all my local friends here when they come to town! read more

I broke a rear derailleur cable and brought the bike in for a replacement. Fixed very reasonably in 30 minutes. But, they had trouble adjusting correctly and also identified a problem with my steering tube, i.e. Rusted bearings. So I scheduled an appointment to have them fix the problems. Took the bike in and they said 24 hour turnaround. Sounds good. Got the dreaded call and they gave me a list of issues, including a bent derailleur cage. Costly? Well yes, but everything they did was well documented and reasonably priced and justified. They put all the labor costs under single charge for a tuneup. The bike has run great since and I'll take it back if anything else needs attention. read more

I can't say enough good things about Sunnyside Sports and the service work done on my Ridley road bike. I brought the bike in for a tune up, as it had been ridden for way too many miles between tuneups. The technician, Barb, went through the bike with incredible detail and called me twice with hidden issues that she'd found on the bike. The bike looks and rides like new. I was surprised to see a reasonable bill for such complete service. I highly recommend Sunnyside for service for their attention to detail, honesty, quality of work and reasonable prices. read more

Sunnyside was the second shop my husband brought my Trek electric bike to in hopes of getting it running again. I love this bike and was really getting bummed out it might not work again. I brought a new carbon fiber frame in for a complete build. I had most of the parts, but the team at Sunnyside also helped with some of the minor items, like tubes, water bottle cages and cables. The mechanic, John did an awesome and very meticulous job of assembling my bike. They provide great advice and service. I have had other services performed with their bike repair shop, wheel's trued, and drive train adjustments, and they have always done a great job. Phenomenal customer service. My son and I were greeted upon entering and the woman who greeted asked if she could help us. I told her we were just looking. She proceeded to spend the next ten minutes talking to my eleven year old son. Asking questions, engaging, informative, showed Him a bike that she thought might be of interest to him and it was exactly what he had been talking to her about. Just the nicest of people. The valve core on my wife's bike broke off when we got up to Bend for a weeklong visit. I brought the bike in and although they were very busy they got it replaced in less than five minutes. They charged me next to nothing and were super friendly and professional. read more

Average service for exorbitant prices. After looking at the receipt I saw that I was charged 10 dollars to move my grips over and tighten just the bolts on the handle bars. I was also charged 8 dollars to tighten the headset: a job that quite literally requires the tighten of one bolt. I totally understand labor is money and so I'm reality they had ever right to charge me. But I think it speaks more to the fact that they can and therefore they will charge these prices than anything. read more

Brought a bike in for a service, within this expensive service was a full front shock flush and service job. Got the bike back next week and took it for a ride only to find my front fork was never filled back up to anything close to a rideable pressure, resulting in me bottoming out severely and crashing.
