CAPE MAY COURT HOUSE: we learned about Burke Motor Group in 2023 and have been following them since…read moreas they are a car dealership who cares about the community! Their "3 Dog Night" event held annually in October helped support the Humane Society of Ocean City and guests and their pets were able to receive free on-site microchipping, tags & engraving, a special gift and dinner. How cool! Francey, the Director of Advertising and Community Relations, reached out to us letting us know of all their wonderful events, including those that are dog friendly! In addition to monthly events, they give back to the community and are launching their annual initiative to vote for your favorite Southern New Jersey Charitable Organization. For every vehicle purchased or leased, they will make a donation to one of four hometown charitable organizations selected by their customers. And, best of all, if you are in the market for a car, your dog can shop with you in the showrooms as they know how important all members of the family should be in the decision making process. Choose from many new and pre-owned models of Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, GMC, Subaru, and Volkswagen. They even have a service and parts department to keep your vehicle in tip-top shape. They are the oldest continuous family run dealership in NJ and even deliver cars! While visiting the dealership, we met Jeremy, the Sales Manager at Subaru, who was so friendly and gave Brie so much attention. We even met a customer in the parking lot and she raved about the sales team and how friendly and non-pressure they are, so that is a big plus when looking to purchase a vehicle.

Scam Artists. Stay FAR Away…read more I want to preface this by saying I live in Maryland -- my GMC Denali broke down in New Jersey, so I didn't have many options. That vulnerability was clearly taken advantage of. The diagnosis was lost compression in the 8th cylinder. They gave us two options: replace the 8th cylinder for $4,200 with the possibility the cam was also damaged, or a full engine rebuild for $11,000. We also asked what they'd buy the truck for as-is -- they offered $12,000, which was reasonable given a working truck was worth around $24,000. We declined the sale and gave them the go-ahead on the cylinder repair. One hour later, they called to tell us the cam was already visibly damaged. That was hard to believe that quickly, but we told them to stop and put it back together. Then, less than an hour after that -- while the mechanic was supposedly still working on our vehicle -- he personally texted us asking how much we wanted for the truck. At that point, we knew exactly what was going on. When they called to settle up, they hit us with a bill for around $2,200, claiming 16 hours of labor. We pushed back hard. We gave the go-ahead, they called us back within an hour saying the cam was bad, and reassembly takes less time than disassembly. There is no world where 16 hours of labor applies here. After that conversation, they dropped the bill to $1,165 with our labor being $600 -- which tells you everything you need to know about how legitimate that original number was. Then came the pickup. My father sent someone from his company with a truck and trailer to retrieve the vehicle. The moment he walked in and identified himself, the man behind the counter accused him of trespassing and threatened to call the police. As he stormed out, our guy asked for the service manager -- the man behind the counter pointed at the door and said "he just walked out." When checking out, they threw the keys and receipt across the counter, which is very unprofessional and disrespectful. The police did show up. Our guy complied fully with everything asked of him. The officer's solution was simple -- take the truck and trailer across the street to load up. That's what we did. From the suspicious cam diagnosis, to the mechanic privately texting to buy the truck, to the fabricated labor hours, to the way they treated the person picking up the vehicle -- this place is not somewhere you want to bring your car. Learn from our experience and go anywhere else but this place!
