Getting a flat is never a pleasant experience. When The AAA guy from Riggins in Cape May came to put my donut on I asked and he recommended MR TIRE. This particular franchise is locally owned so they got my business. Initially I just wanted the tire patched which at $30 plus tax is a fair price. You know this is a resort town and it's real easy for any business person to try to pad a price with an additional 100k people in town for the upcoming 4th of July holiday. They did not. I was 3 months away from springing for 4 new tires so I decided to give them the business of 4 new tires. With this large investment I had a ton of questions/prices concerns.You have to do this because you are stuck with the performance and ride of new tires for at least 3 years and I want the best tire for the price that support my driving habits. Driving Habits ---combination of city like driving 50% and 50% major Highway. I also am concerned about driving in snow. Dave and his coworker Nick didn't try the usual dismissal of a women's questions about tires. And I know this is hard because they answer the same questions multiple times/day every day of the week. I did my internet homework about the tires suggested and I felt confident in their prices. I also opted for an alignment which was reasonably priced. If you get bored there is a mini golf and driving range next door along with ice cream. Rio Grande diner is a half a mile walk. Bottom line : Dave did his best for me. Bonus: I was in and out close enough to be happy with the 2 hr estimate to do all my work. I highly recommend this place. read more

I bought my car to Mr, Tire, North Brunswick NJ location for oil change and the car was making a noise when you put your foot on the brake pedal. Upon inspection, the shop manager informed me that my rear brakes needed to be replaced (among other things he found wrong with the car), and apparently that's what was making the noise. I found it odd because the noise was coming from the front, not the back of the vehicle. In any event, they charged me close to $1,000 to get rear brakes done only and took the entire day to fix it. Once I picked up the vehicle, I noticed the car was making the exact same noise. When I brought the car back to them, (after initially contacting them by phone on the same day after picking up the car), they claimed that they noticed another noise (not the noise I was hearing), and that's why they believed the noise was the rear brakes. To make a long story short, after looking at the vehicle again, they determined the noise was coming from the tire scraping on some metal shield and for that, they wanted another close to $1,000 to fix the original problem which they should have fixed in the beginning, although they claimed they took a couple of hundred $ off for my inconvenience. I took the car back, and did not allow them to fix it, After years of going to the Edison shop before it closed down and more recently, the North Brunswick shop, I can say that Mr. Tire has some good, honest mechanics and some incompetent, dishonest ones. The problem is you never know who you're going to get when you get there. They will take your car and look at everything that is wrong with the car, other than what your complaint is. If your car is close to or over 100,000 miles, they will always find something wrong with the car even if there's nothing wrong, rest assure. In other words, they are mainly focused on what benefits them, not what you bring your car there for. I know, I speak from experience and some of them will pull every little old trick in the book. In my case, the shop manager claimed he heard another noise, but didn't hear the noise I was talking about. Well it's very interesting on how he was able to diagnose every single thing that was wrong with the car but the obvious problem, the problem which I thoroughly explained to him that it comes up when you put your foot on the brake pedal. He could have simply told me, "I don't hear a noise when pressing the brake pedal, but I hear other noises!" while they were diagnosing the problem. I'm not saying this was not the case, but he sure was more interested in re-doing my rear brakes than paying attention to the issue at hand. Prior to this, I had some issues at the Edison location before it closed down, where they did an oil change and then all the oil came out of the vehicle on to my garage floor. Yes, they fixed the problem and they didn't charge me for labor, but I had to pay for the parts to fix the problem. Same issue when they fixed my front brakes - in a couple of months the front brakes went bad after they fixed it, Took the car back to them - same thing, they didn't charge me for labor, but I had to pay for the parts - all due to their incompetence and not to mention they're overpriced and sloppy. Try to avoid them at all costs if possible. I can't speak for other locations, my review is for the Edison (before it closed down) and the North Brunswick locations. read more

I found a screw in my tire. No appointment needed to have it looked at. Within two hours they knew it was superficial, not damaging the integrity of the tire. They removed it and only charged me the labor it took to diagnose the problem. They also reset all of my tire sensors. Great service! read more

I had a slow leak in both rear tires. Didn't want to worry about my drive home from the shore and possibly having any problems so I dropped my vehicle off the day before I was leaving to have the tires looked at. They told me it would take a few hours which was fine because that allowed me to have beach time while they looked at it. I got a call two hours later that the car was ready to be picked up. It was $72. total for them to look at and patch both tires. One was leaking from an old plug and the other had a nail in it. My boyfriend couldn't believe how expensive it was for that. He said at a tire place at home (Philadelphia) it would have been $20. I needed it done and it worked out to get it there. I think I also read on here that someone spent $35 to fix a slow leak so I had that in my head. Yes it was expensive but I needed it done and it all worked out. read more

It's hard to give this place a 100% bad review because there are two complete opposites that will meet you behind the front counter. The first and notorious RICH is very rude, unhelpful, and honestly ignorant as well. I have had him tell me I needed to replace 3 month old wind shield wipers because he was confident they needed to be replaced... or maybe just wiped clean with a finger.... He will argue with you about what YOU need done to your car over the phone acting like a car guru when really he just wants more of your money. On the other hand there is another man, it's a shame I don't know his name, but he is a bit darker toned and probably a bit younger than Rich, but he is fantastic. He makes you feel welcomed, he is very helpful, and he is FRIENDLY. This man is the reason I come back because that place isn't all bad. It's just ran by a complete jackass. Ontop of Rich though, the place itself is a shit show. It doesn't allow online scheduling or ordering, even though it will allow you to put it through online and walk in like an idiot saying I have an appointment. "We don't do appointments" will be the response. You have to just show up at a magical time when no one else is there. WHICH NEVER HAPPENS and either drop it off or wait hours for work that takes maybe half an hours worth of time. They also may provide shotty work. I had my air filter replaced years ago when I was new to vehicles. After replacement I heard a loud noise from the AC. They dropped acorns in my blower motor. I told them afterwords to which they responded "we don't have time to look at that today, you'll have to bring it back another time". Even when they are the reasons it sounds like this in the first place?? They also are supposed to check tire and brake treads when doing rotation. Well one time my caliper was seized for who knows how long. They never reported it and I ended up needed to replace my caliper rotor and brakes instead of just a new caliper. Just to make a long story short, at the most unexpected moment I got a flat tire and I happened to have a donut in the car so I got that replaced and made it back to the hotel. I looked online to see if there was any place open and available for the holiday weekend. Mr. Tire was one of them. I called them but nobody picked up the phone. The reason for that is the phone number shown on the Yelp page is incorrect. I drove to the business and learned Mr. Tire's correct number is 609-246-5520. I dropped the car off and they finished it by the end of the day. Their attitudes were very professional, they helped me out in the best way that they could, they provided useful information about my options and they did a good job. Now I have 4 new Yokohama tires. I have gone to the Rio grande Mr. tire store for service many times over the years. l have overlooked the ignorant behavior of two of the front desk personnel. The only person you can have any respect from is Dave. He has not been there recently ( maybe because he treats customers with respect and that's not allowed). l just spent over a thousand dollars for 4 new cooper tires for my pickup. A front end alignment was included in the purchase. a few days later I was traveling on the AC expressway when I felt my truck pulling hard to the left! Felt very unsafe. The following day went back to Mr tire in Rio Grande and was told to bring truck in the next morning to have it looked at. Rude guy # one said to leave it and he might get to it, but not sure when. l told him l had an appointment. He said they don't take appointments. We drove over to Mr. Tire, were helped right away and were given a reasonable price for a new tire. Waited 20 minutes and were told they were able to patch our old tire for no charge!!! On 6/1/2023 I had a flat tire that I luckily could still add some air to so I could get to Mr. Tire. They checked out the tire and discovered a crack in my rim. They showed me the crack and explained what they were going to do. They sealed the crack on the rim to prevent further leakage of air so I could get back to the Philadelphia area. It was a busy morning there but I was in and out in an hour. The manager and mechanics were courteous and professional. And the biggest shock was there was no charge for this service since I didn't buy a new tire or rim. I appreciated this courtesy so much. I wrote a review back in September of last year when I went into one of the most unorganized and unfriendly places. When I first arrived, there was no one at the front desk and then when I asked a mechanic, was dismissed when trying to get my air conditioning serviced and recharged. After leaving a bad review, I was contacted by a Mr. Jason Shonk on September 8th, 2022 who is the district manager. He sent me an email and I called him back. We had a long discussion about what had happened and he was very apologetic and said that if I needed to make an appointment, to please contact him and he would arrange it and make sure that nothing would happen like it had previously. I decided to give them a try so I called Jason Shonk in the end of Sept/October 2022 since it was less congested this being mostly a summer tourist town. He never returned my call. So I stopped in again. This time there was someone manning the desk, I waited in line but once again, he was just as dismissive. He told me it would take days to do. I would need to leave it and drop it off some evening . Then they would need to recharge it the next day, pressurize the system and test it and then I could pick it up either end of the second day or the third day in the morning. He explained they were very busy and couldn't get to it to the following week but he wasn't sure. I didn't book the appointment because there was no sense of really wanting the job and I was simply more an irritant by my presence then him offering appointments when they could in fact accommodate me like any good reputable business would do. So then this past March, I decided to call Jason Shonk again since we were really dead now in this area and the season hasn't started. I called him on the 26th of Mach leaving him a detailed message and then I emailed him on March 27th, 2023. Neither phone call or email were ever replied to. I actually have no made arrangements to take it directly to the dealership and pay more there but at least I get a loaner for the time it will take to service. The owner of this business should REALLY take a look at his /her staff and in my opinion START OVER! They all need to go! Don't take you car here. The customer service is horrible, they aren't attentive, the only thing we get in the mail is reminders to get our oil changed. I actually drove it to Jiffy Lube in Egg Harbor where I was able to get coupons and was treated well and they did it super fast. Not having to drop your car off for all day just to get your oil changed. I am filing a complaint with the better business bureau as well as Goodyear which they are associated with just so they are fully aware of what type of people they have representing their brand. I strongly suggest those who have similar situations to report them and post as well. read more

I have a company truck so I have no choice on where I can go for tires, but I can tell you I will never bring my car to this place. An hour doesn't mean the same thing at Mr Tires as in the real world. 2 hours an 20 minutes and my truck hasn't moved. I have to concur with all the other reviews in regard to terrible customer service. The hours of operation state 7pm. I showed up at 6:20pm wanting to buy a tire and simply have it mounted on my rim. I had got ten a tear in the side wall of my driver's side tire an hour before and had the donut on my car. All I had to do was hand them my rim and get them to install it. Easy quick sale for them. The staff milled around looking and now again from the back area as I stood at the counter for 10 minutes. So now it's 6:30pm, the dingus from the back comes forward and tells me they can't help cause they are leaving in 15 minutes. BS. For the owner:Train some true front end staff. Make a sign stating when you will service the last client prior to closing. Staying at a campground close to Mr. tire auto service the person on the next site next to me had got a nail in his tire I drove him to Mr. tire auto service to see if they would be able to plug the tire the person behind the counter was extremely rude and stated in his own way we don't plug tires here we patch them. This location will try to scam you. They especially try to prey on older people and women who may not know about tires or service. There is one especially rude, condescending, egotistical man RICH that WILL LIE TO YOU. My wife went in for a simple screw plug/patch repair. Told her tire was damaged on the "inside", as he surely suspected, and would need a new tire. When she was called to pick it up he told her the lug nuts were bad AND the lug plate had to be replaced too for an additional $250. Nearly $500 total. My wife now sensed something was not right. This resulted in a fight with this con man who basically threw us out. This was a blessing because down the road they plugged the original tire which was fine and there was nothing wrong with the lugs. $30 total. read more

I was DESPERATE to get an oil change before driving from Avalon back to Hoboken. It was a rainy Saturday and everyone I called said they couldn't help me. Mr. Tire said that if I could drop it off then they could do it in a few hours. Sure enough the car was done at 5:30PM even though I said that I didn't mind waiting until Sunday. I was vacationing in the area - about 150 miles from home - when a warning light said i had low tire pressure. A very nice young man named Antonio came out to the parking lot and offered to put air in the tires. He took the initiative to do a visual check of my tires as well. That's when he found a screw in my tire! He even refused to accept a tip from me. He referred me to the manager - Mr. Rich Rallo - who is pleasant, knowledgeable and extremely accommodating! I have been coming to Mr. Tire and formally Vespa's for many years. The front service staff has been the same. It's usually Rich or Dave and sometimes they're both there. I have received excellent service whether I'm having routine oil changes, buying tires, brake overhauls or major repairs. For serious mechanical issues often Jim the service manager will discuss your options. They have always tried to go the extra mile. Since they take unscheduled walk-ins it can be very busy but most times my car was ready same day. I recommend them. read more

I was sold four tires and an alignment for a thousand dollars. The tires were supposed to be good for 60,000 miles, at 30,000 they were shot. We were told 4hrs they will call us back. Within the 2hrs our suv was done. Fast service which is A+ especially we're here for a vacation. I've had a few unsatisfying experiences here but this last visit was the final straw! I created this account specifically to warn people of the risks of taking a vehicle here for repairs. Last week my truck was making a squealing noise so I took it in to be repaired. Later that day I received a call advising me that the truck needed rear brakes and the front wheel bearings needed to be greased. I picked the truck up the next day and, $450.00 later, I instantly noticed it was making the same squealing noise as it was when I dropped it off. I drove it for 5-10 miles thinking maybe the new brakes needed to adjust themselves. When the squealing didn't stop, I took it back the next morning and spoke with the only desk clerk (?) that I feel is helpful. He had the truck looked at right away by a mechanic. The mechanic, who was also helpful, drove the truck and then brought it in the garage and put it on a lift. After looking at it he called me in the shop and showed me the squealing was coming from the front brakes, drivers side in particular, which were obviously in need of replacement. He also showed me that the drivers side wheel was not spinning freely as it should and demonstrated by spinning the passengers side wheel which did spin freely. There appeared to be a problem with the brake caliper on the drivers side. I asked how this could not have been diagnosed by the original mechanic who determined the truck only needed back brakes and the front wheel bearings greased. He replied, understandably, that he couldn't answer that question. I told him that I couldn't help but feel as though the $450.00 in work that was done was unnecessary since the squealing didn't stop and I was now being shown the noise was in fact coming from a defective front wheel that had been allegedly greased. I never do this but wanted to take a moment to thank and support this business. I had a nail in my tire and came here this morning to get it fixed before a two-hour drive home. The workers were knowledgeable and friendly. They let me know what to expect and completed the work within the time frame they told me to anticipate. They even brought a chair outside for me to wait (only allowing one person inside at a time due to COVID). I would highly recommend if you are in a pinch like me! read more

Today I called about getting brakes checked over the next few days and was told I would have to leave the car for several hours. I asked for an appointment and was told it doesn't matter...a little rude. I scheduled an appointment with the dealer for a cheaper price, nicer manners, and also provides free shuttle service.
