I had heard so much about the newly remodeled Super ShopRite in the Blue Star Shopping Center that I decided to check it out for myself. Unfortunately, I wasn't very impressed. For such a large store, I found it overwhelmingly crowded. Parking was a complete nightmare, especially if you need handicap-accessible parking. Once inside, there were so many shoppers that it was difficult to walk down the aisles without constantly having to maneuver around people. Even though I went during what should have been an off-peak time, the store still felt packed. The layout also wasn't for me. It felt more like a huge warehouse with grocery aisles than a traditional supermarket, and I found it difficult to navigate. On the positive side, the store was extremely clean and offered an impressive variety of ethnic foods, specialty items, and products that you may not find at other ShopRite locations. That was definitely one of its strongest points. Unfortunately, I also found some of the shoppers unusually rude, which is something I haven't experienced to this degree at any of the other ShopRites I regularly visit. My guess is that because this location is so large and well-known, it draws huge crowds from many surrounding towns. Checkout was fine, although I do wish the employees I encountered had been a little warmer and friendlier. Overall, I'm glad I checked it out, but I'll definitely be sticking with my favorite ShopRite locations. For me, easier parking, aisles that are much easier to navigate, smaller crowds, and consistently friendly employees make for a much more enjoyable shopping experience.

Sadly, I'm not sure how to edit this and even the location is a bit off now. Minor complaint is that I wish the ready to eat food bar and sections were a bit more affordable (imagine if they had a soup and sandwich or hot food deal) and I do think the old ShopRite had more sales, especially on frozen veggies and dinner items, but their selection is impressive and I rarely have to wait on line to checkout because they have so much self-checkout stations.

Autumn Harvest had every dried herb I needed + more! The owner is so friendly + helpful and took his time to weigh, bag + label each herb for me. While he did so, my boyfriend and I looked around. He sells a host of natural products, supplements, drinks + there's the cutest little grocery area in the back. There's really something for everyone. I really appreciated the patience he had with us + the care he took. :) I will be back! Places like this are rare + it's my pleasure to support!

I called to report this and was told that they could do nothing about it because I live out of the area and couldn't physically come into the store. There was no solution offered to simply charge back my credit card, and even though I have a stop and shop card, they refused to do anything about it. I am really disappointed with this level of disservice as my local Stop & Shop always goes above and beyond. Be very wary of purchasing anything perishable in the store.

People were being swept away on foot and in cars due to the strong winds and flooding, and these employees thought it was appropriate to almost literally kick customers away in this emergency. Coming back from a trip, my boyfriend and I drove past it, and I knew we finally had to stop by--and I am so glad we did! It is the cutest shop inside, packed with a ton of different products ranging from fresh vegetables, canned goods, and international specialty items to homemade desserts and fully customizable hot and cold subs. I loved how fresh and clean everything was. The staff was incredibly chatty and warm, answering all of our questions and speaking about their products with so much genuine passion and pride. The place has its own ample parking lot and is quite cute. It is small though and has some fresh produce, dairy, and pantry items at the front, but nothing extensive. Having said that, they had bags of allergen-friendly bread crumbs made without eggs (we haven't seen this before anywhere) which I purchased for my kid with multiple food allergies. Towards the middle, there are baked goods.. cookies, cakes, bread, pies. Something to note: everything has a sticker with "Tom The Green Grocer" on them (or other stickers if it's not made there... I'm assuming the items with their sticker means they're made there) but there are no ingredients listed at all. No names either and if there are, it's generic like "assorted cookies" and the pies had the name written on the boxes (peach, forest fruit, mixed berry, blueberry crumble, apple crumble, pumpkin - off the top of my head). I ended up buying a peach pie for just under $25 each. At the back of the store, there are the prepared foods, cake slices, and sandwich counter. My daughter was eyeing the Oreo cake slices but I didn't get one for her on this trip. The slices are not equally sized and wrapped in cellophane; I noticed some are slightly bigger than others. I'm sure I'll get one for her eventually and I'll report back on that once I do. I'm under the impression a lot of people that go there are regulars. The employees there are... there somewhere (they sort of blend in... I didn't really notice a uniform). We weren't greeted when we came in and weren't asked if we needed any help. It might be because they didn't know, since the cash register has the cashier facing away from the door, but as we walked around, it seemed like people became sparse. Service was lackluster and I don't actually recall a smile. Luckily, when I finally grabbed what I was planning on buying, a new employee was manning the cash register. She answered questions with direct answers, no elaboration. I'm still not sure if the answers were adequate, haha. I had asked what was in the Forest Fruit Pie and she mentioned blueberries and strawberries. Then I asked what was in the Wild Berry Pie and she said "berries." I sort of gave up on it after that and just checked out. An intriguing little neighborhood food-centric shop. I wish they listed out the ingredients on all their baked goods and prepared food and they were a little friendlier and helpful. It was glued to the pie pan (I believe the filling bubbled through and got between the pie and the pan) so none of our slices are whole since we need to scrape the bottom out, but they aren't too sweet, the filling doesn't taste artificial, and the crust is nice and flaky/tender. I'm hoping the fact it was stuck to the pan is a one off and they usually aren't like this. The next time I get a craving for pie, I'll go back for round two and I'll be sure to note whether or not that one is stuck to the pan.

We notice the cashiers are consistently charging for items not purchased and overcharging for items (ie charging for a 5lbs bag of onions instead of a 2lbs bag). A one time or 2 time mistake is one thing, but when it happens more visits than not, it makes you think either they are incompetent or dishonest. A wicked thing to do esp to the elderly who are on fixed budgets. Buyer beware- check your receipts if you choose to shop there.
