I would have given them 1 STAR but since they fixed my bike, they got another STAR. when I dropped off my bike I was told that a tune up was $70. When I came back my feet was near double that price. I was not given a call or notice that more was required and thus a price change. When I came to pick up my bike the worker told me that he had been working in the industry for over 20 years and calling customers about a price change is not something he does. I was clearly frustrated with lack of concern for customer or empathy. It was only after I said I hope for your next customer that you let them know if a price is going to change. In hindsight I should not had paid the additional fees. read more

Great store for two reasons - First, Robert in the bike shop went above and beyond to rescue my bike. I arrived unannounced mid-ride with a serious drivetrain problem. Robert completed the repairs while I waited - thankful that I didn't mess up his repair queue for the day. He also re-seated my rear tire (I didn't do it properly at home), then gave a test ride to ensure all was well. He saved the day so I could ride the Gran Fondo the next day. Huge props. Second - while waiting for the repair I was impressed with the diverse selection of outdoor gear and clothing. My guess is if you can't find it here, you won't find it anywhere. There's not really anything bad to say about this place. Every time I go in I'm always greeted with several smiles and greetings, regardless if I'm just browsing or buying. Today's trip took me to the bike shop and I'm shopping for a new mountain bike and bike rack for a 2" receiver. I spoke with Cat in the bike shop and she took her time to explain the different bikes they had in stock and even showed me the bike rack I had my eye on. At no time did l indicate that I wouldn't be buying today but she went ahead and explained everything to me as if I were buying today. So when the time comes I'll definitely be back. Terrible customer service. they didn't seem interested to offer help, few staff were very nice but mostly they were walking around like "in a coffee shop ". Went in today with my mom's rolling walker. The brakes weren't working on one side. The guys in the cycle shop immediately fixed it, adjusted the other side, and wouldn't take payment. We love this place and stopped in here the last time we were in TR. This outfitter has a little of everything for the cyclist, kayaker, hiker, and camper. I picked up a map of the Foothills Trail and my husband got a pair of Darn Tough socks. He ended up chatting for quite a bit with the cashier, who is a runner at Furman. My husband was a runner in college too, so it was fun to listen to them. The bike shop loaned him an Allen wrench so he could tighten his handlebars. Good staff, nice merch. read more

Great service from the guys behind the counter. Super easy rental and return. They open early and close at 6 so we got half day pricing and got a cyclers view of the trail and down town. I'd recommend these guys for a round trip rental and will likely do it again if and when I come back to travelers rest. read more

I walk in very interested in getting a Feelfree lure 11.5 No staff bothered coming up to me to help, they seemed like they were too busy having fun cracking jokes with each other. Old guy that works there named Yeti was too busy showing one of the staff his pumpkin ice cream. Another older lady seemed like she had ADHD, she was more interested talking to her staff then running back and helping me. Horrid staff. They will treat you like a thief, follow you around. Offer ZERO help. Once I was in there this chick said nothing to me and my boyfriend except the second he dropped down his mask below his nose. Seriously? Then you as an afterthought say "Can I help you?" To me after she saw my face. Just moved to travelers rest and would spend all the money there but every time! This staff needs to be completely all let go and replaced with actual people that are helping. Also the staff were loudly talking rudely about the customer who had just walked outside. They carry really good brands. The store is harder to navigate than a place like REI because it is packed full of merchandise but you can find field tested gear. Staff is laid back, approaching aloof, but you can always find one of the staff helpful. read more

I am currently in the process of buying a touring kayak from them, and they have really gone the extra mile to find me exactly what I want and get it for me as quickly as possible. I can say with all honesty , that they are pretty well equipped with whatever you need for hiking , cycling , camping , kayaking or any other outdoor activity .
