ABSOLUTELY INHUMANE!! I hope you plaster this over every piece of social media you can!! You actually will be saving lives!! Specifically Sunrise Tom's River. Presume other Sunrise facilities run on the same protocal but I don't know that to be fact. Day one they somehow got information from the prior intake and put that information onto my intake form! First major mistake! That person had health issues with epilepsy and a damaged liver. I do not have either condition yet it was constantly thrown in my face and after well over 25 different staff members and bloodwork that validated my truth, the BS continued!! Extremely frustrating!! Extremely short stafffed! No medical care available at all. I was detoxing from medically prescribed Xanax , which is a Benzo, that I was medically prescribed for 20 years and just needed maintenance meds To deal with the withdrawals I will have for many years. I detoxed back in January from alcohol and the Xanax successfully and felt great at a Fantastic Rehab in Florida. Sunrise Nurse Practitioner gave me Librium for alcohol , which I did not need! I was given Librium and i was told it was a a seizure med only to find out it was diazepam another benzo which put my health at risk and set me back in my recovery many months. Zeppra should have been given despite the fact I wasn't in need of detox. Kept putting meds in my pill cup that I did not need and I was allergic to and I kept taking the pill out Everyday!! NEVER got my proper withdrawal meds that I originally went in to get!! I'm lucky I came out alive!!! Many others came in looking better than they do now and they absolutely need to be hospitalized since they literally are overdosing!! A seizure happened on a patient and there was not a nurse to be found for 5 minutes and they had no clue how to deal with it!! It was mind blowing!! The place needs to be shut down like many months ago because the damage they did to people is absolutely irreversible!!! Absolutely Despicable, heartless and abusive to vulnerable people just looking for help. it doesn't even deserve a star but that was the only way I can get my review posted! minus stars are best suited for this facility!! read more

Can not give any stars.Went in voluntarily in 2020 as to NOT get addicted to the Klonopin the doctor put me on. Thought we did all the research.Was told FULLY covered under insurance,that was a lie. No real medical treatment at all, just giving you dangerous "comfort meds " that do more harm than good. Everyone treated like an addict . You would be better off withdrawing at home,save yourself some money. Force you into expensive rehab after ,telling you fully covered under insurance. Still getting bills from "rehab" 4 years later! Every time you speak to nurse practitioner, you will get billed for that on its own.Really a shame as the system is geared to get you back in so they can bill insurance again!Do yourself a favor, STAY AWAY! Wish I had read the older reviews before I went there. Customer service was horrible. Could never find my adviser. I was transferred out to a hospital because of a heart issue. Spent most of my stay in hospital trying to retrieve my belongings: got my phone after a few days; a day later got toiletries and clothes; never did get back a bag of personal items. Just got a 3-month follow up call from a salesperson. Can only guess he was hoping for a relapse so they could charge me again. If this is your only option, take it. If you have other options, take them. read more

Worst place ever. Don't bother. No help at all. If you sign yourself out against medical advice they hold your personal belongings for 24 hours (phone, wallet, ID, money) leaving you stranded in Tom's River for 24 hours until they return your belongings. Essentially, they've figured out how to trap you there for as long as they want. So, if you figure this isn't the place for you and you want to go to a different program, you are trapped. They do not care about your employment or helping you keep your job while you are seeking treatment. Many other kinder and better treatment options out there. read more

After having reviewed Sunrise detox center and their terrible behavior back in 2016, I was actually sent a BILL this last week. A bill for detox I paid for myself before they would even let me in the door. It's 5 years later and they send me a bill for $31 lol. $31. It doesn't say what it's for or a date if service. Nope. Just a bill for $31. What did I do with it you ask? I lined one of my bird cages with it just to watch him poop on it. I don't even line my cages with paper. I always use corn cob....not this time. I put it smack dab in the middle of the cage. I guess this was a desperate attempt to be relevant again. Sorry Sunrise. You're not relevant. Hell you're not even legitimate. I suggest to any family member considering this facility for your loved ones ....that you find someplace else unless of course you want your loved one to be ignored, neglected and given access to more drugs than there are out on the street. I wouldn't be surprised if staff members weren't bringing them in so they can assure repeat business. They should be closed and their license revoked. read more

We were "desperate" to get our loved one into treatment and Sunrise Detox was our ONLY choice at the time. Although the site states "sliding scale", we were not even given that option and paid cash. And they insisted that he leave one day earlier than we had paid. I am sure we would have been given a sliding scale fee if they took any information about our financial situation especially during these times. Counselor unprofessional; told me he would not talk to me and told me my relationship with my son was toxic (after 2 days of tx). Counselor refused to talk to me after that even to the point that when my son called from the counsellor's office, the counselor told him "don't tell your mother I am in the room". He also told me he had a very heavy caseload and his time was limited. (5 min sessions). Three phone calls to director - no return call. My daughter and I did most of the calls for his continuing treatment after detox, I heard they had "preferred" treatment centers so I don't think they really even looked. We (my daughter and I) spent hours on the phone finding a treatment center for him after discharge which was not a "preferred" treatment center of theirs. On a positive side, one counselor (Jessica) was emphathetic to our situation. Also, other patients there seemed to offer more therapy than the clinical staff. Don't bother going there. The only return call you will receive will be from the "friendly" admission dept to obtain the admission. read more

This company is only about the money!!!! They billed me for my stay that my insurance paid for. The accountant Bonnie- gave me false dates and amounts when I tried to reconcile my account bc they said they never got payment- of which I personally took to their ga facility- just to find out that their facility actually cashed the check 2 years ago, yet their intake team, (Michael, Stewart and Joshua) called me a thief and accused me of insurance fraud, when in reality they've had their money the entire time- I call that double dipping. But to make matters worse- I tried to speak with the manager Brian- who stated that he's in the corporate office and manages all facilities, hung up on me as well when I brought it to his attention. If you go here- keep track of every dime and stay on top of payments given so that you don't end up with false charges on your credit. read more

I was a patient at Sunrise this past July, 2017. If you are paying out of pocket, as I was, I suggest you find a doctor to detox you in an outpatient center, and save your $10,500. I've tried to call them 3 times since leaving, and have been given a total runaround. I have a simple question as to the dosage of one of the meds I was put on there, as it seems to have helped, but was practically hung up on by the nurse. I was now the property of "medical records" which doesn't answer the phone. While the med techs were helpful, all other "counselors" simply try to shovel you into another of their affiliated programs, to get more money, then drop you like a hot potato afterwards. My own medical records shouldn't be that hard for ME to access. I am sure it wouldn't have been too difficult to have given me a straight answer if they are actually in the business of "helping people". It is also a revolving door for addicts to get clean so they can go out and get high again. I can't imagine who's paying for all these admissions! read more

Recently I did a 10 day program with Sunrise detox at the cherry hill location (they don't have a page) and was extremely unsatisfied. The staff was extremely unprofessional and inconsiderate to those, who are most, at their worst time. My personal counselor, was always "busy" and whenever I needed something, he had something else to do or take care of. Not once did I have a one on one session. I was told from the call center that the beds were QUEEN sized then arrived to see a twin XL size bed. I was also told that patients could make phone calls from a landline phone at any time -- not including that it costs money and can only have access from 11:30am-11:30pm. The food was clearly frozen and not much was fresh than the yogurt that was an option for breakfast. The eggs were made from powder and there were very limited vegetarian options. Too add, the nurses have a "station" where you can receive appropriate meds when needed and they always seemed frustrated. Overall the atmosphere was not comfortable and the staff was horrible. I would never recommend this to someone seeking detox and had I not been given FALSE information upon arrival I would have chose another detox center. To end on a positive note, the beds were comfortable and the center was always kept clean! read more

My husband was here for a 3 night stay and it was very difficult to communicate with the staff regarding questions I had such as his length of stay, progress, visitation, and continued treatment even though my husband signed a release for me to have his medical information. I had to initiate all communication, and for 2 of his 3 days there, I drove to sunrise personally because I was unable to get in touch with anyone. I felt that the councilors were very inexperienced and their procedures somewhat unprofessional. My first visit to Sunrise, the councilor met me in the lobby to talk. Another person was in the lobby so we stepped outside to have our conversation. He answered most of my questions and was very helpful and took my number so he could call me back with some information I had asked for, however, he never did, and he neglected to tell me he didn't work weekends (this happened on Friday afternoon). The weekend councilor also was helpful the first time we spoke, but then did not return my calls when I had more questions. When I did reach her, I felt like I had to pry information from her. She also gave me the wrong number to the treatment center my husband was transferred to, and answered many of my questions with a one word answer, "nope." I was never inside the facility so I can't critique the comfort, cleanliness, or level of care given to the patients, but as a family member involved in the care and treatment of one of this facility's patients, I was not impressed and I'm relieved that my husband's stay was only as long as it was. read more

When i entered upon sunrise detox the tech's were great. everything went smooth and i was in there within no time. however I cannot say good things about nursing. now there are some good nurses, but majority of the nurses were terrible. A patient would ask for meds and they would say "Do I have to get up, I just sat down." Or i heard them say "Dinner is being served...why don't you go get dinner." INSTEAD OF GIVING A PAITENT MEDS AND TRYING TO KEEP THEM AS COMFERTABLE AS THEY CAN!! They were very dismissive and rude to the patients. I have been to other places before and by far this was the WORST MEDICAL STAFF EVER!! They were unprofessional, cursing all the time and by far the Laziest. Also I am not a complainer, I have never complained about a facility but I believe that this place warrants it. I would recommend the place to go to, but after this nursing staff and when someone is feeling very uncomfortable, and being in the situation that there in, I would not recommend someone to go here. read more

To start this review I want to ENSURE you all I have NO affiliation whatsoever with this center, the success of this center or care if you decide to choose this place over another. I write this review because I nearly did not come here because of all of the negative/inaccurate reviews so I felt it was only fair to write what I would call an unbiased and accurate one. I am very thankful I ignored the "haters" and chose to come. The complaints about staff I've read about must've been written by people that still think the world is flat. The technicians (the staff on hand at all times available to clients) could not have been nicer, accessible, constantly looking for ways to help and make the stay as comfortable as possible but most importantly they ALL genuinely care about the client's wellness and level of comfort throughout the stay. The senior staff was equally as accommodating ensuring all of their support staff was doing everything possible to ensure the aforementioned attributes were consistently adhered to. The nursing (meds team, practitioner and director of nursing) were extremely genuine. For example, I had some vital sign complications in which all worked tirelessly to ensure it was managed safely, properly, under control and ultimately safe to leave. Most importantly, there is a carte blanche open door policy. If a counselor, med nurse, technician or even the sales team had a door open, access was open without an appointment. Always greeted with a smile and never felt like I was bothering them for simple or complex issues. Anyone that has been to a similar facility can surely relate this is EXTREMELY rare! The facilities were spotless, rooms were comfortable, food was above average for a detox facility. Group meetings were available 4 times a day and no pressure was put on to attend as they all were fully aware of the difficulties of rest/lack of energy while going through the detox process. I hope this helps people out there that are unsure of Sunrise due to negative reviews. Most reviews are written by people that are pissed off, not people that had good experiences. Let's be honest, addicts and alcoholics are very irritable and pissed off early in detox and my guess that is the root cause of the negativity was much more related to those symptoms rather than what Sunrise had to do with any of it. I am writing a sober review based off of an entire stay and can say with confidence this is a much better representation of a client's experience than nearly all that I had read prior to coming.
