I didn't do the repair myself because I couldn't get the plastic cover off the ball to make the repair. Anyway I brought the part and vacuum into the shop and asked them if they could replace the part. They said they couldn't, that they charged $89 just to take the vacuum, and that the vacuum was no longer sold they didn't want to be responsible if something happened when they took the vacuum apart. I asked what I should do, they said, buy another vacuum. They then tried to show me another similar Dyson for sale in their shop for $100. I told them, no thank you and left. I then went to the Dyson Service Center today with the vacuum and they fixed it in less than 10 minutes, for $63.40, including an additional hose ($9) that also needed replaced. My question is why have a sign outside your store that says you service Dyson vacuums if you don't??
