sunflowers and pumpkins in a greenhouse
    Kristen M.

Visited the little shop at sunrise farm and loved the ambiance, selection of handmade and unique gifts and the friendly staff. Being mid November, there were plenty of items and displays for both Thanksgiving and Christmas. The soft holiday music playing as I browsed put my spirit in a festive mindset. It was fun to look through all the items made with love and even start to purchase a few little gifts for the upcoming season. Outside of the handmade and specialty gifts, they also carry pasture raised brown chicken eggs for $3.50/ dozen as well as several other local fresh and specialty food items. The reason I couldn't give 5 stars here is because I feel the pricing is quite high, even for this type of specialty shop. The eggs were reasonable, but the gifts and grocery goods, with a few exceptions, were priced much over where I'd expect.

Pick your own pumpkin patch option!

I have been to this place multiple times and can't get enough of it. Even though there are farms with more veggies offered, this is an adorable place and a one stop shop for gifts. From cooking utensils to holiday decorations, they have everything you need to make your house a home. They also have the most adorable baby clothes you will ever come across. From onesies, to blankets and bibs, to knit sweaters and shoes. I can't get enough of them! Now, more about the food. During the fall time they sell apple butter and pumpkin butter that is to die for. They also have pumpkins for sale and the option to go pick your own pumpkins from the patch if you'd like! But seriously, their chocolate. Oh Lordy lord. From chocolate covered graham crackers to dark chocolate covered marshmallows. If you are a chocolate lover, stay away, because they make it impossible to say no! I highly recommend this place for holiday shopping, home grown veggies, and amazing chocolate for the whole family!

    Beautiful- so much to see!

Love this place- any season, any day... just a beautiful break from the pressures of the day. I remember coming to this place as a kindergartner with my class.... and always return to see the beautiful displays, tasty treats and friendly people. Go! You won't regret it!

This is exactly one of those events that makes you want Downtown Cleveland to be just like this all…read morethe time: Lights, cheer, positive energy buzzing about. The holidays are officially here! In case you haven't been to Winterfest before, this is a daylong celebration of the start of the holiday season. It culminates with the lighting of the tree in Public Square, an outdoor concert, Santa and fireworks. In the middle, there's a Holiday VIllage market with lots of local shops, fun for the family, sleigh rides and more! It's put on by the Downtown Cleveland Alliance with lots of partners, sponsors and such that help fund the event. It's the perfect activity for the family and, the best part, it's free! Heck, even bring a date to this terrific event. It's really magical. Just hang on to the young ones at nighttime, because it gets really crowded and easy to get lost. And by free, I mean as long as you don't fall for all the sneaky vendors trying to sell your kids glow sticks, and other over-priced, useless pieces of crap. You know those things will most likely be lost in their toy boxes, never to be remember again. I would suggest, as long as the weather is decent, to park in the flats and walk up. Not only will it save you money on parking, but you'll also avoid most of the traffic heading in and out. And also be aware that the freeways will be clogged. It's the nature of the beast, people. Overall, this is a great, family-friendly, free event that really kicks off the holiday season. It's not to be missed! I mean, why would you want to? Oh, and try stopping by the Winter Wine & Ale Fest afterwards. It's not free, but its a great time! Just pick up tickets beforehand to partake in lots of wine, beer and local food tastings.

It was located in the square and the decor was very Christmas-y. People actually dressed up for this so not your average get together and pretty classy. Jazz music was playing in the center of the court and huge Xmas tree in the middle for more picture taking. The food was unlimited and tasted very good. My favorites were the Zoup (pumpkin & lobster bisque) and Mac n Cheese with Short Rib Meat. There were a total of about 6-7 food places, and plenty of wine and beer. For a great Black Friday deal, I got my ticket for $25 versus the full price of $50. This was worth the deal because you get 20 drink tickets - I had 16 left at the last hour and pretty much didn't really need them. I would definitely go again next year. Free coat check and parking, I don't think anything can beat that! Plus, a Yelp booth was there so I got my gear.

Not sure why there aren't many more reviews for this farm! My family and I went for their fall…read moreevent that includes a hayride, corn maze, pumpkin picking from the vine and a play area for kids. Entry was $5 and kids 2 and under are free. The entry fee gets you access to everything mentioned. There were 3 food trucks in front, and also their main building consists of fresh picked vegetables (a big assortment of peppers ranging from mild to hot) and other handmade local goods. Prices are very reasonable as well. If you don't want to pick your own pumpkin, there are also ones that you can just choose and purchase in front of their main building, along with cornstalks. Let me tell you, this hayride is by far the best I've been on. From the cleanliness of the farm and the hayride, to the organization and friendliness of the employees. They close at 5pm on Saturdays, and advertise that their last hayride is at 4pm, but they went until almost closing due to there still being people who wanted to ride. There were 2 tractors that took patrons to and from the pumpkin area. The ride to the area was about 5 or so minutes, and coming back was about 10 minutes. While riding, you get views of the whole farm, a view of a pond and also ride through their orchards. The tractors and seating area were clean and in good shape. The pumpkin patch had a lot to choose from and different shapes, sizes and colors. Many were still on the vine. The price for the pumpkins is $0.42 per pound. I got one huge pumpkin, and 4 small ones for $12. Not bad at all! This farm has yearly events, and I can't wait to return. Definitely recommended!

We are new to the area and when house hunting last fall, we spotted the hay bale minions. My husband is a huge minion fan so he made our poor realtor go back to take pictures! We didn't realize at the time that the hale bale sculptures are an annual event at the farm. We've been back to get fresh produce and went to the open house a couple weeks ago and took a hayride tour of the farm. Looking forward to fall produce and seeing what this year's hay bales are!

The actual restaurant is also very good. I don't know if they have an actual chef but a lot of their menu is chef quality so kudos to Maize Valley if they're not actually using a chef. My friend and I spent the day at the Lavender Festival at Maize Valley Winery this past Saturday…read more After browsing the many vendor booths throughout the festival, we stopped in the winery for lunch. There was a line when we arrived, but we were pleasantly surprised to be seated within about 5-10 minutes. Instead of a traditional server, each table had a QR code that allowed us to order both food and drinks directly from our phones. We had no interaction with any server, we had one member who delivered our food and wine flights to our rebel and left. The system worked well and everything arrived quickly and efficiently. We both ordered the Lavender Salad with added chicken. The salad featured mixed greens topped with feta, cucumber, red onion, lavender-pickled blueberries, candied pecans, and a lavender blueberry dressing. It was fresh, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. We both agreed it was excellent. We also each ordered a wine flight, which included four 2-ounce samples. I sampled the Sinfully Red, Mad Cow, Hanky Panky, and Redneck Red. I enjoyed all four wines. Most were on the sweeter side, while the Sinfully Red was a nice dry option that provided a good contrast. The Lavender Festival itself was wonderful, with plenty of vendors to shop from and lots to see. We also tried the lavender lemonade, which was refreshing and perfect for a warm summer day. One thing that surprised me was the additional charge to access the lavender fields. It was $10 to walk through and take photos, or $20 to take photos and cut lavender to bring home. Personally, I felt the $10 photo fee was a bit steep and not quite worth it just to snap a few pictures, but I understand it's a business and an additional way for them to generate revenue. Giving this review a 3-star instead of a 5-star because I felt the food and wine flight was a bit pricey and I did not like that they charge you to walk through the lavender field. I ended up paying almost $45 for a salad and flight as there was a large tip automatically added onto my order. I wasn't given the option to add a customized tip. I didn't even receive a text receipt to my my phone showing what I would be charged and the addition of the tip, so I thought that was a little bit sneaky and unexpected. We had the food delivered to our table. No other interaction took place. Overall, despite those two things mentioned, Maize Valley did a great job handling a very busy event. Between the beautiful festival atmosphere, tasty food, enjoyable wines, and efficient service, it was a fun day.

Some apples are bad but you'll find many good ones. There are different brands of apples such as Fuji, Granny Smith, Golden Delicious, etc. I've found some really big apples which is also cool and fun to find. They are open all year round at all their locations but for Apple picking, that is seasonal only which is in the Autumn season (around September - October) Prices are reasonable for Apple picking. I forgot how much it is per pound but I'm sure it changes often.
