Our fall haul from Howard's Apples! Pie pumpkins to paint, apple cider, a box of apples, and apple cider slushees
    Ashley M.

Okay adorable little family owned farm and shop! Honestly this would be so easy to miss but missing it would be a huge mistake, especially during the fall. They have an inside shop, an outside tent, and even a kiddie roller coaster outside! I visited during fall so I can't speak for what's going on here during spring and summer. Came during a weekday and it wasn't busy at all, had no problems parking in the gravel lot out front. In the outdoor white tent, there was hay bales, corn stalks, white pumpkins, huge orange pumpkins, little pie pumpkins, and different kinds of squash! All of the pumpkins were so well grown and so cute. None of them were rotting and they were all super fresh. Inside, they have tons of produce and things like local maple syrup, jams, dips, and candy! Most importantly, they have apples and fresh apple cider! We picked up a gallon for $7 and it is delish! The real reason we came, however, was the apple cider slushees that are $2 a cup. Unfortunately I wasn't able to take a picture of it because I was too busy slurping it down. Not too sweet and sugary, but tastes like fresh, homegrown apples in slushee form. How fun! Loved my time here, can't wait to come back. Come support a local business for your pumpkin-apple-cider fall haul!

This place is so great. I can't believe I'm the first person to write about it, let alone add it to Yelp. Like, was I even there? Am I having an Inception moment? (Spoiler: Its real.) Alright, this place has almost no internet footprint. You wouldn't know about it unless you were looking for it, so hopefully, this review will help you find it. I only found it because my friend took me here today. Howard's Apples is located down the long stretch of Bainbridge Road. When you pull up, you'll immediately see their corn maze and mini kids "rollercoaster." There's 2 areas: an outdoor area filled with hay, pumpkins, and flowers, and an indoor market. Howard's, in general, is pretty compact and filled with exceptional items. Holy moly. All the produce and bakery inside the small market are incredible. You can't beat the quality, freshness, and beautiful colors. I picked up the most perfect zucchinis for .75 cents. Inside, they carry everything from squash to potatoes, tomatoes, sweet corn, and various apples. Several people appeared to be inside doing some major part-grocery shopping. The Honeycrisp apples I bought are the best apples I've ever had in my life. Unlike the crappy grocery store Honeycrisps, these actually have the most satisfying flavor and firm crisp to them. They have a drool-worthy bakery section, filled with maybe 10(?) types of pies. I bought the red raspberry and dutch apple pie home for my family, and it has the most homemade, rich flavor to it... and no fake ingredients in it. Yes! Overall, 2 pies, some other assorted bakery, zucchinis, cucumbers, a bag of apples, and a few random things later: only $40. I really loved the freshness of everything here... I can't wait to return when it actually becomes fall (versus this 90-degree weather fall stuff).

This is a Hollywood movie come true!…read more The Sirna's were your typical urban-dwelling family with regular city-type jobs up until a few years ago when they decided to buy a plot of land and move out to the country to start farming. Today, they do a great job encouraging and supporting local farming initiatives while taking their hard-worked goods to weekend markets in Cleveland suburbs like Shaker Heights and South Russell. They also operate their own storefront on their land open during growing season which features their own goods as well as stuff from local farms and wineries (cheese, sausages, canned goods, wines, etc.) - again, supporting the local farmers and businesses. One story I always tell people is on one weekend I was desperate for some dill as I had a bunch of baby cuckes at home ready to be pickled. She ran out of the store and came back from the fields a few minutes later handing me this gigantic bouquet of dill weed for about $2. Now I only needed a few sprigs for the pickles but boy the house smelled great for a week! We participated in their CSA one year - a way of buying a share in the farmers' operation. For an up-front lump sum fee, your share nets you a weekly bag of whatever the crops yield that week. This goes on for several months while crops can be harvested. While you don't usually get a choice of what you'll receive (it's whatever is ripening that week!), every bag has an abundance of food. This is perfect for the family that has flexibility in preparing and eating a variety of vegetables from week to week. We received throughout the growing season (not in just one week) corn, potatoes, tomatoes, green beans, radishes, zucchini, butternut squash, yellow squash, kohlrabi, onions, and much more. On weeks which were light on crops, especially in the beginning, Sirna's substituted freshly-ground peanut butter and local honey. Sirna's also does a Fall festival open house with hay rides for the kids. Located along 44 about 2 miles south of 422, Sirna's is definitely worth your while to stop by here one of your summer/fall weekends and support your local farmers.

They do have varieties of meats as well, including Amish chicken. They carry Amish fry pies too, sometimes from Der Dutchman! We also love the fancy pastas available, and that they carry Original Bagel company bagels from Bohemia, NY (this New York girl is very particular about what she calls a good bagel!). We've been going here since before my baby girl was born in 2025, and we've been bringing her along with us since she was an infant. The staff recognizes her and is always so friendly and sweet with her, and she always enjoys shopping with us and picking out an 'emotional support fruit' to carry along on her shop. It IS important to note that the store is on the small side and that the aisles are quite narrow. It can also be packed during peak hours, so you just need some patience. It's worth it!
