Last year, we decided to look into hiring a photographer to take our family pictures as we were worried that the BP oil spill could possibly ruin the beautiful white sand beaches of Destin that we love. After looking into a number of photographers, we decided on Expressions Beach Portraits and could not be more pleased. They didn't charge a sitting fee and the deposit we put down went towards our order. The price was incredibly reasonable especially considering the quality of the professional photos we received. The photographer came and met us at our favorite spot and did a great job getting our two toddlers to not only look at the camera, but also smile while looking (something we have yet to be able to do ourselves!) We were able to purchase all our photos in an electronic format and had a hard time deciding which one to feature on our Christmas cards since there were so many great shots to choose from. We have since gone back to Destin and hired Expressions Beach Portraits to do another session a couple of months ago. The quality of experience, convenience and product were consistent with our first experience. We plan to have Expressions shoot all our future family vacation photos. We were looking for a photographer who would accommodate our family of 8 and not overcharge like most places. Daymaker was it! They were on it from the beginning working with our schedule and even met us at our location. The photgrapher was very nice and polite. He took many great pictures and did not only limit us to 20 or less like most places in the area. We received our pictures back in just a few weeks as promised and they turned out great. Every side is your good side when Jan's behind the camera. She took photos of the entire fam and individual couples (future MIL and FIL, fiancé and I, fiancé's sister and her husband). It was family photos, maternity photos (fiancé's sister is expecting), AND.....SURPRISE ENGAGEMENT PHOTOS!!! Arrived 30 minutes late to the reception and the entrace included fireworks and she said "someone should have told me"- I told you by telling you what time to arrive like WHAT?? Zero outreach, communication was always from me, she canceled our engagement photo session after we had already booked tickets and hotels and scheduled all of our other wedding appointments around since we were flying in from California- zero attempts to reschedule, zero apologies, zero engagement photos for the wedding. I mean there was no lack of trying to blame everything on us- we are across the country! Every single shot her second shooter took had to be tossed. They were so embarrassing and beyond amateur. You will see her best work on her site so I will add some of the ones she doesn't show you later on if I can bring myself to. The few pictures we got from Lacey that we liked were great! But there was so many mis-steps, the worst communication and just a terrible overall experience. She brought Lacey as her associate/assistant photographer for the day. How lucky were we to have 2 great photographers?! I'm not quite positive which specific images were edited by which photographer, but Lacey posted one image on her Instagram account, and I absolutely loved it - the colors, light, the moment - just perfect. (I'm sure that specific photo had to be her editing). Overall, Lacey's sweet and calm demeanor kept me at ease on the day of the wedding; she was a pleasure to communicate with afterwards; and the photos are just beautiful and captured the spirit of the best day of our lives.
