Really sketchy business practice. I scheduled an appointment over the phone stating I had Groupon. They said they didn't schedule groupons on the weekend, but could during the week. I showed up to my appointment early and just happened to see a random loose paper stating they were not accepting Groupons and I would have to get a refund and pay cash. As I waited, I could not find a way to refund my Groupon, so I mentioned this and the Employee states they don't have the capability to receive Groupon payments. I could however pay cash now and redeem my Groupon at another time. When I challenged this, asking when, there was no answer. Just a lot of back and forth between the employee and someone else on the phone. I feel like they were trying to scam me. read more

Fool me once shame on you..fool me twice shame on me! My wife and I have gone to Sunrise twice trying to use a Groupon for foot massages. Both experiences were not good! When Fred and Cindy owned Sunrise in Olivette(which they sold), we were regular customers so when we made the drive out to Ballwin we expected the same level of service. Sadly this was not the case. On our first trip we said upon entering we were using Groupons but when it came time to pay they would not accept and told us we had to pay in full. This was annoying but we figured we it would be a good reason to come back and try again. The 2nd time, we booked a reservation by phone for 2 pm which she confirmed. Before hanging up we said we want you to know this will be paid by Groupon. 20 minutes later we received a call saying there were no actually open appointments at 2. In fact there were no appointments for a foot massage until after 5pm. This likely was a lie but we went with it. At 4:50 we arrived for our foot massage(with groupon) and sat..and sat..and sat. At 5:15, we were ushered into the room. We soaked our feet for the standard 20 minutes. Then the receptionist came back to tell us they had no foot masseuses available but we could wait another 45-60 minutes. At this point we had enough of the BS and left. We wrote Cindy an email and received no answer at all so apparently customer service does not matter. For those who care, the first foot massage was fine. I travel to China four times per year so foot massages are a regular treat. Typically a foot massage in China does not have you with eyes covered but at this Sunrise the room is in the middle of traffic flow so people come and go the entire time. I suspect your eyes are covered less for relaxation then for seeing the parade of staff. read more

Made an appointment a week in advance to get a couples massage. It seemed as though that didn't matter. We arrived and were told we'd have to wait a minimum of half an hour for our massage despite making an appointment. We weren't offered very much explanation as to why other than "an emergency." A call before we arrived would have been appreciated before we showed up to our appointment (don't live in the area). I purchased a living social deal for the Lily package. I didn't have much expectations, but was excited to try it out. The minute I walked in, my experience began to go downhill. I had booked the session on the phone, with a female masseuse, and the gentleman taking the booking was very professional and nice over the phone, and advised me to arrive about 10-15 min early to fill out paperwork. I arrived 15 mins before my appointment, and there was a young Chinese woman seated at the desk who did not even greet me, nor say a single word to me, but rather just took a clipboard with paperwork and gave it to me to fill out. The "paperwork" ( which is one sheet back and cover ) asks you to draw areas where you want more attention or work done, and I filled it out in 5 mins. The same woman took me back to a room near the laundry room, where you could hear the washer and dryer and people coming in and out. She never asked me if I needed to use the bathroom or if I had any questions, which I find unprofessional since I get massages pretty frequently, and they always ask you if you'd like to use the restroom before or need something to drink. I was suppose to get the foot soak/massage first and as I was trying to get relaxed, in comes a male masseuse. I was confused at first since I specifically requested a female masseuse ( cultural and religious reasons ). I explained that to him, and he was very polite about it and told the woman at the front desk. She then comes in without knocking and apathetically demands to see my living social voucher, which I thought was odd. I then tell her that I requested a female masseuse, and she proceeds to tell me again apathetically that it was not noted when I booked! I asked if that will be a problem, she said it might be, and said that I might have to wait especially since I arrived before my appointment time. I was so shocked by her attitude. I explained to her that I arrived early in order to fill out paperwork as I was instructed to do by one of their employees on the phone. I also explained to her that I have to be somewhere in 2 hours, and if this was going to go over. She then left the room, without so much as an apology for the mix up, nor as to what was going to happen next. I seriously debated leaving, or having her get her supervisor for such rude behavior. Mind you, i can still hear the washer and dryer next door. She comes back in about 10 minutes later without knocking again and asks if I will allow a male masseuse to do the foot massage part and a female masseuse to the body massage part. I said no, then she left again without saying a single word! I was about to leave at that point and was already forming this review to warn people, when I calmed myself down and 10 minutes later ( now i'm already running 10 minutes late ), an older chinese woman came in also without knocking or introducing her self ( I guess this is common in this culture? ) and just starting massaging my feet. The foot massage was good and relaxing. After the foot massage, the woman took me to another room, and just left. She didn't speak a word of english. So I assumed I had to undress and get underneath the covers. The room was clean, smelled good, but was cold and no heated bed nor comfy blankets. The masseuse came in again without knocking and started massaging right away, The pressure was deep just the way I wanted it. But I kept having to ask her to massage the areas I indicated on the paperwork. I seriously don't think they read that piece of paper, nor even look at it, since most of the masseuses don't speak a word of English! She seemed annoyed that I kept asking her to massage my neck and shoulders and stop massaging my legs ( I already had a hr prior leg and foot massage for heavens sake !!) Anyway, after It was done I dressed and left, she didn't offer any water which again I found strange since all previous massages I have received offer water and say goodbye to you. As I was leaving the young woman seated at the front desk asked me how it went, I said fine and proceeded to give me a paper with a discounted price of other massages. I left feeling like that was probably one of the worst massage experiences, since it made me upset and anxious instead of relaxed. The customer service and professionalism is horrible. If you are purely interested in just a deep tissue massage but don't care for professionalism nor if your masseuse understands your needs, then this is the place for you. Otherwise, seriously consider going else where. The prices may seem good, but the overall experience was not. read more

Do NOT go here!! They are scammers! They false advertise. I got the "1 hour foot massage" for $30. I made an appointment for 3:20, but came about 5-6 minutes late because of traffic. When we arrived, they asked our group of 3 if anyone wanted to use the restroom, so we did. Who knew they counted our restroom time as part of their "1 hour massage time". We began soaking our feet at 3:33. I was playing on my phone so I noticed the time. At 3:40, they started our massage so I put my phone away. At 4:14, they said we were done. I was confused because surely it hasn't been an hour. That was less than 35 minutes of actual massage time. So I complained and asked the front desk lady who rung us up. She explained that soak time is 20 minutes and massage time is 40 minutes (which we were never told), but still it didn't add up right. I told her I did not get soaked for 20 minutes and I did not get massaged for 40 minutes. She then said that I came a lil late so they cut down my soak time (this makes no sense, but ok). It still isn't an hour if you consider my appointment time as start time. To sum it up, we had 7 minutes soak time and 35 minutes massage time, which is 42 minutes combined for their "1 hour foot massage." The massage room was bright and noisy. The co workers kept talking to each other and constantly opening the door in and out while we were getting our massage. How can you relax like that? I really do not know how they are even getting positive reviews. Once again, DO NOT GO HERE. If for any reason, you make the terrible decision of going, please time them. For a real massage, go to Beijing Foot Spa in St. Peters. Their foot massage package is $29 for an hour. They will actually massage you for the whole hour AND they massage your whole body (they just focus more on your feet.) read more

The first time I knew this store, Sunrise, was in last year, from Groupon website. Today I went there with my wife for a couple massage as for the anniversary celebration. It was lucky for me to get a pretty good deal. The manager was saying that they have store promotion recently, for about 100 bucks. But, for the first time customer like me, I just needed to pay $90. As far as I know, my wife and I were counted as the third type customer-- store promotion. The other two are walk-in and voucher schedule. Considering the therapist is pretty good, I bought some vouchers directly in store, and the prices of these vouchers are at the same price as those listed on Groupon. The manager was nice and she also recommended me to purchase the daily package, which seems much cheaper than that on Groupon. I really enjoying doing massage here. The problem my wife and I had was that about halfway through our massage, the two massage therapists started talking to each other in their native language AND THEN STARTED LAUGHING. Seriously go, and if you managed to score a living social then you've hit jackpot. Extremely reasonable prices. The Spa runs its own promotions too, check their "specials" tab on the website. They also have a buy 4 get 1 free type of deal. Great location, stand alone right on Manchester (easy access if you're in West County) the place looks very well maintained and new. The rooms and check in area are very comfortable and tastefully decorated. They incorporate both Asian/Chinese (pressure point) and Western styles and the BEST PART is this amazing hot towel they use towards the end to help remove the lotion residue. I was in heaven. I booked a massage for me and my mom, we had Dakota and Rose and both were great! I seriously can't think of a better place to go for a massage in St. Louis County. read more

I want everyone to know that they should not patronize this merchant Sunrise Day Spa Ballwin. I ordered a voucher for a massage through Amazon Local. When I called to set a appointment I told them that I had a voucher. She told me that I needed to schedule this a week out.The voucher says on availability. Now if I am paying cash they can get me in right away but if you use a voucher that they participate in they jack you around. I tried to book a week out and every time I gave them they were booked. STAY AWAY from this. There are many good spa's here locally that will honor their vouchers at anytime. Spread the word. I called Amazon and they refunded my money right away and are taking them off the merchant list. They will be gone before long I will make sure everyone I know is informed. read more

This is my favorite place to go(Ballwin). Normally I walk in, either early in the morning or late at night and they are always able to take me. I'm horrible at making appointments so it is great with my schedule. I never have just one therapist I go to. Each one has listen and followed through with request. Never rush, very affordable, and a FULL 60 min! Not 60 min with a 45 min massage. They are the BEST! read more

I absolutely love this place!! As a massage therapist myself Sunrise is a great spa to spend a couple of hours having me feet massaged, then laying on a warm table for a wonderful massage!! The therapist there are well trained and do a great job!! The only drawback is the language barrier. I used Living Social to try this place out for a couples massage. I will say that we were extremely disappointed. When making the appointment, they never took my name or number (which made me question them from the get go). Upon arrival, they were friendly enough and had us fill out paperwork. Being a massage therapist for the last 13 years, I understand this. What I don't understand is them NOT even looking at it prior to coming in the room for massage. When the therapists came into the room, neither one of them introduced themselves or asked any questions about the medical information that we filled out of the form (being that I walked in in a cast and on crutches, you'd think they would have at least asked), The purpose of the forms are to find out what the client's needs/goals are and how the therapist can effectively help the client achieve these goals while medically not putting the client in harms way. The best way to achieve this is to talk to the client and go over this form. Neither therapist did this. I told the therapist multiple times to lighten up. She would briefly and then go right back to the elbows in my back. I was there for relaxation only and left with multiple bruises on my back and glutes. Technique was poor to fair at best. The areas that we needed focused on (my neck/shoulders and his quads/hamstrings) that was reported on the form, were given very little attention. Both myself and the other person with me have had several massages by multiple therapists. He was just as disappointed as myself. I would say that based off of technique, communication, and the vibes being put out, it was the worst massage that I have ever had. I would not recommend this place. read more

Very Unprofessional. No paperwork to fill out. Eager to collect my money. I paid $70 for a 90 minute massage, that lasted 75 minutes. She Never told me what was going on left room for 5 minutes returned with rough warm things and rubbed them on my body. It was a pat-rub massage & I was looking for a therapuetic massage. Awesome relaxing massages! I would have liked to have known what the ladies name was who gave me a massage so I knew who to ask for the next time. We got the lily massage and it was fantastic. I would have liked to have been offered some water after the foot massage before we went in for the hour massage. Other than that it was great! My husband and I purchased a Groupon and had a couples massage. We had an amazing experience. My husband is already planning on returning, and paying full price! The staff was very friendly and we had no troubles understanding them at all. The massage room itself was clean, smelled great and was very relaxing. The couples massage room is right off the lobby so we could hear the door when people came in but I think the ladies noticed this as well and turned up the music a tad bit to drown it out. The massage was great and I felt like they each focused on the spots that we indicated on our intake sheet. I have a lot of left shoulder pain and haven;t had ANY problems since I left there. I bought a Groupon for a couples massage. Before I purchased it, I contacted the business by email to make sure there were male and female massage therapists available, as I prefer male and my husband female. I was assured that there were, so I bought the groupon. When I called to make the appointment, I could tell that the receptionist did not speak English very well, so three times I told her we needed a male and a female therapist, in which she responded yes, yes each time. When we arrived at our appointment, I noticed there were only female therapist walking around. Before I went on the massage room, I again asked the receptionist if there was a male therapist there for my massage. She again said yes, yes. My husband and I got ourselves situated on the massage beds, and the therapist came on, two females. One of them said to me, "female ok, no male". I said no, I wanted a male therapist. She went out to talk to the manager. The manager said the male therapist was sick, and only female therapist was available. I said no, I will only have a male therapist. She then said she would call the male therapist. I said no, I don't want him if he's sick. She called him anyway, but there was no answer. On the way out, one of the therapists handed us a coupon for two foot massages. Had they looked,at our intake forms, they would have noticed that I have had a recent foot surgery,mand my left foot was NOT to be touched at all. We drove an hour each way, so we had our wasted time and gas money, and no massage! The least they could've done is called us and rescheduled. I definitely feel this was the old "bait and switch".
