The food is almost an edible as I had to order him DoorDash, at least five times a week, hire outside care to come in for 10 hours a week because he was just not getting any attention. The head nurse Angie blames her staff for all of her inadequacies, and David the director does not listen to criticism or make any sort of changes. I would not let my father stay here if it was completely free.

Was not awake. At the beginning of his stay at the Madeline, I was confronted by one of the Resident Care (RC) ladies that he was not able to walk or feed himself. I told her that I knew that since he was bedridden in the hospital for a month and on drugs for his agitation because of dementia. He was sleeping most of the time when we visited him. LaShira Israel, Resident Service Director of the Madeline, who came to the hospital to assess his case and determine if he would be a candidate for their facility, knew about his condition, and after review, accepted him into the Madeline. One of Madeline's resources and conditions we were happy about was physical therapy. Hoping he would be able to walk. He never got any. I had to order him a walker and wheelchair, which he never used. He slept a lot because of his aggressive behavior, so they medicated him. A psychological nurse said that she would prescribe a lessor dosage. During his stay, he had fallen and incurred a lesion on his elbow. The staff at the Madeline proceeded to put his mattress on the floor and taped up his elbow wound. Shortly after this, he was complaining of abdominal pain. On the evening of 7/19/2022, I approved him being transferred to the hospital for x-rays. I never got a call from the Madeline after that. It turned out that he was admitted into Emory Decatur Hospital (EDH) for treatment. Diagnosis, among other things, was sepsis. Not only sepsis, but ... Wound type MASD/YEAST on the left, right buttocks, gluteal cleft and scrotal area Surrounding skin denuded open area, redness/drainage, odor serosanguineous Wound type right, left heel Active dry yeast rash, sites: adipose tissue folds; groin Diagnosis besides sepsis, MRSA My husband was at the Madeline for 9 days. When doctors suggested Hospice, I notified the Madeline that he would not be back. He passed away on 8/4/2022. Since then, I've been trying to get a refund of the money I paid for the month of July. Actually the only month. He was only there for 9 days. They've not been very cooperative or compassionate and even charged me more because he did not die until 8/4...they claim they never received a written 30 day notice that he was leaving. I don't feel that I should be charged for the whole month, especially Level 3 care, when he never received it. Beware. UPDATE: 7/10/2023 I received a phone call from Aventine. She told me I received the $6k bill in error. Really??? So that was removed. They also removed the $380+ bill for the 4 days he was in hospice at another facility. She said that charge would be subtracted from the days he was not at Madeline. She kept saying it's in the contract, over and over. I told her he should never have been there in the 1st place. They promised he'd get the care he needed. There was nothing she could do about that. I'm sick and tired of dealing with this place.

I placed my name on the waiting list and had to wait a year before there was a vacancy. The entire staff is amazing! Though the "baby Kroger" closed in 2022, there's rumor Trader Joe's might replace it, and Publix is less than two miles away. Now total renovations are underway, down to the studs ... plumbing, electrical, appliances cabinets and new bathroom fixtures. I'm not sure if there is currently a waiting list since renovations are underway, but it's worth checking out, as all the current residents are being shifted around during construction. It will definitely be "5 STAR" when the renovation is complete ... I LOVE IT HERE!

The staff are genuinely concerned for the welfare of their residents. They helped us arrange for services they don't provide like transportation, nursing, etc. The other residents were very nice and conversational. They always said hi and inquired about my father's well being. It was a difficult search to find places at the lower end of the price scale and I couldn't be more pleased with these folks. The location is a real bonus. It is in the heart of Downtown Decatur so you are within walking distance of just about everything you'd need including haircuts, pharmacies, restaurants, bars, Marta, even live music!

My grandmother didn't have that much dementia, but the place where we "placed" her was not nearly as wonderful as this Emeritus location. I think she would have been a great candidate for one of their "wings" - if only she had lived here and not in Rome, maybe we could have had her there. Here's the deal - Emeritus has 11 metro-Atlanta facilities, four that are dementia-specific, so to speak, and over 400 locations nationwide. From meeting with one of the key folks today, and meeting other staff and directors, it is clear that they are committed to the very best in patient care and treatment. Each resident has a nameplate on the door, and a photo/collage type thing next to their door with whatever they feel portrays them best- family pics, notes, etc. Even better, the four "sections" of the facility are decorated like....things that make you happy! My favorite was the "beach" themed room- and the hair salon! In one corner of a wing, they even have an old-fashioned mirror/dressing table and vintage dresses next to it. Wow. Beyond the aesthetics, it was clear that the staff really cares, and that anyone whom I love would be well tended to at this place...I witnessed staffers calling everyone they saw by name, carefully tending to the sofas in the lounge area, checking on people in their rooms or in the common dining area or group activity area. Really, it was - overwhelming. Bob Carr and staff do an incredible job, it seems - if I get totally *out there* one day, for whatever reason, this is the kind of place I would want to be.

Not being from the area, I trusted them because they specialize in working with families in finding the best caregivers and vet each senior living facility to find the best fit. My 62-yr old sister is a military veteran and is independent but needs some assistance with her daily health rituals and consistent administering of her medication. Following six weeks of physical rehabilitation, living independently was no longer an option for her. We toured a couple of other properties around Atlanta, but she liked Coventry Place instantly. We met with the director Christina, who was warm, genuinely friendly, informative and super knowledgeable. I believe that Christina's compassion and understanding helped both my sister and I feel welcome and at ease. I also appreciated that wherever we went in the building, Christina always greeted residents and employees by name, and with a smile. It's amazing how much the little things mean when you are going through such a transition. The facility itself is wonderful--conveniently located, clean, bright and full of residents of various ages, so my sister doesn't feel like an "outsider" given her age. Large and inviting community rooms and exterior courtyard; library/game room; full kitchen and dining room; different chefs and DELICIOUS food! Staff here are great too. They are very responsive, accommodating, and really seem to care about the residents. There are plenty of activities offered and to choose from. Although I live out-of-town, I speak with my sister regularly and she has already made friends and is extremely happy living at Coventry Place. Respectfully, I am at peace that she is safe and given the proper care that she deserves. My mother had been a tenant at one of the Columbia Senior Residence properties for over five years. After being diagnosed with early dementia in May 2023, she gradually could no longer care for herself. I took her to live with me, but she refused to give up her apartment. So, while she lived with me, she continued to pay for an empty apartment until December 2024, when she gave notice that she would not renew her lease. In February 2025, I had moved her out and posted a glowing review of the support provided by the property manager and the on-site team. I did not realize at the time that it was only part of the transaction, and my experience on the other part was dramatically different from the first. I think this is entirely unacceptable and quite egregious. To start, the fact that my mother gave the required notice two months before moving out should have avoided this issue. After moving out around the 17th of February, she was charged for March rent. To make it worse, that money still has not been refunded. My mother has since passed away, and despite my constant follow-up with the property manager. I feel like we were being taken advantage of because my mom is gone, and I am not a Georgia resident to fight the issue. I was initially disappointed that the problem occurred. I feel that she is being cheated out of her money, which has hindered my ability to honor one of her final wishes. I've tried sending emails, sent a letter to an executive, and never received a response or resolution. All I want to do now is complain.

I felt entirely confident and grateful for the care they were providing with complete devotion, round the clock. I don't know what I would have done if they had not received my partner when they did. Her experience of her final weeks would have been entirely different if she had to remain in the hospital or go home to less than ideal levels of care. I was unable to attend to all her physical needs by myself at home. She was supported physically, medically, psychologically and emotionally with great dignity by the hospice team assigned to her, which included a wise and empowering social worker.
