This review is of the Woodruff Family Housing at The Shepard Center in Atlanta, GA, for their…read moreoutpatient patient and patient families. This is mainly for informational purposes. We are staying here while my husband rehabilitates at Pathways. Before coming here, I searched everywhere for pictures of the housing so I would know how to prepare. The building is older but serves its purpose well. You'll need to bring cleaning products including a vacuum, mop, bucket, etc. This particular unit had a few of these items but we had to move rooms and the next one did not; be prepared for them to not be available. The kitchen is stocked pretty well although, ours needed measuring cups, spoons, mixing bowls, mixer, and kitchen towels. The refrigerator is full sized but, on the smaller side. There is an ice-maker. There is a standard coffee maker, no k-cups, only ground. There is a microwave and our kitchen happened to have a crockpot, although the first room did not. The hot water takes forever to heat up so run the water for about 15 minutes before stepping inside to shower. They will gladly provide you with any medical needs you may have such as a shower chair, lifted toilet, etc. The towels and washcloths are a step below a hotel and SMALL. My husband found them too rough for his sensitivities. Myself, I thought they did a great job exfoliating, so just your preference. We ending up buying some and made our stay more comfortable. Bedrooms have two twin beds OR one twin bed and one hospital bed. Please confirm with your case worker what your needs are!! Bring blankets and mattress toppers for your comfort. The beds aren't the most comfortable but will suffice; they remind me of dorm room beds. We brought a king sized tri-fold topper, pushed the two twin beds together and made a king sized bed. Obviously this required us to bring our own bedding but completely worth it to us. Hey, if we are going to be here a while, let's make it comfortable!! Keep in mind they can't take donated mattresses when you're done so either meet a neighbor who would appreciate it or be prepared to leave with it once it has expanded. Trash bins are on the ground floor through the parking lot. At night it's dark. The first time I chose to bring mine back in since it was a good walk in the dark and there was a running, white van parked nearby. Hey, I've seen what happens in the movies!! Lots of renovating/construction going on but they are doing an adequate job of rerouting you with very little inconvenience. Security is very friendly and helpful. There is a secured parking garage. You have to have a key card to access the garage, your floor, and your room. There's plenty of handicap parking right by the door of each floor. There is a mailroom. If you're ordering Amazon, I recommend the Amazon Lockers located about a mile or less down the street. There is a delay from the mailroom (I am on day 4 of packages I know have been delivered) and they are not there but a VERY limited time on weekends. They do bring your mail to your room and if you are out, they open the door and place it and any packages just inside on the kitchen table. Very convenient and takes any worry away of your packages sitting out. Be patient .. I was told many are volunteers. Internet is okay at best. The TVs are smart TVs so your apps are available. There is a TV in the living room and bedroom. There is a laundry room on each floor. Keep in mind you can only access your floor. There are 2 washers and 2 dryers. They actually provide the detergent. It's an off brand powder and obviously you can bring your own, as we did. I have not seen any fabric softener so you'll need to bring your own either way. There is a floor downstairs that has couches, games, movies, etc.. Should you need the Shepherd Center or want to utilize their cafeteria, there is a walkway located in the garage area. You are only outside of the building/inside the garage for a very brief walk. The Shepherd Center also sponsors a Family Dinner every Tuesday night at 5:00. The food is furnished by local restaurants and local people that generously donate. It's FREE! Afterwards, they play several rounds of bingo with generous prizes. Mrs. Shepherd, herself, attends almost every meal. She is the very elegant lady on her motorized cart assuring everyone's needs are tended to. Should you need Piedmont Hospital during your stay, if capable, I recommend walking there. It's less than an 8 minute walk. Piedmont makes you pay for parking every single time you leave the hospital. I think the first 30 minutes are free but, then it's $7-$10 according to your stay. I walked every time of day, from very early morning, midday, and late a night and felt very safe every time. I hope that you find this information helpful for your stay! However, I received written correspondence faulting me for a busy schedule and other untruthful allegations about missing appointments. They never inquired about recent injuries keeping me from PT. If you schedule an appointment you need to tell the patient and not note cancelled in their patient portal when they weren't aware of some of the appointments due to a miscommunication error. It didn't warrant the action taken. I've received a great deal of care denial with this healthcare system, so I shouldn't be surprised.

She took a genuine interest in my mother, medically and personally. When my mother died at home at around 1:00 a.m., she came to the house to pronounce her death and assisted with calling the cremation society to have my mother taken to the mortuary. She told us what to expect and was sensitive to my father's feelings about seeing his wife of 71 years leave their home. She was with us throughout this process until 4:00 a.m. in the morning. I would greatly recommend her and Sovereign Hospice.

However, the front office staff and office policies have not been a good experience. I recently moved out of state and attempted to access my records via the patient portal and could not access them. Per an email request, I received a phone call saying I could complete a form for my new physician (I've already done this) and if I wanted my records I could PAY A FEE for them to be provided via CD. I have two overwhelming concerns: 1) I and/or my insurance company have paid through the nose for medical care for the past 8 years; and 2) who uses CDs anymore-- new computers don't come with a CD drive! What century are you in? Everything is cloud-based now and precisely why I should be able to access my records via the portal. As an example, I can access my Emory and Mayo Clinic records today (some are over 2 decades old and others over a decade old). This is a terrible business practice and nothing but a MONEY MAKER for this practice. I'm hugely disappointed in this nonsensical practice. And, I would also be concerned about a medical office SNAIL MAILING private, medical records. Isn't this a HIPAA privacy concern?

In January 2025 I made an appointment for the earliest new patient appointment, which was in June 2025. I decided to wait for the appointment because I really appreciated the philosophy found on the website and definitely liked the glowing reviews. I had positive interactions with all staff I encountered and the clinic was clean and bright. The provider I met with suspected a new problem/diagnosis and so started a work up with labs and imaging. Clinic staff did follow up with me once labs resulted out and referred me to a specialist. The ordered imaging was performed ~2 weeks after my new patient appt but I never received follow up, from the NP or anyone else at Ponce Primary Care re: the imaging results. It has now been ~3 months since my last communication, specific to my care, with anyone in this office. I decided to reach out to discuss the standard of care, which I felt to be lacking. Dr. Chad Costley did return my call within an hour or so and he did verbalize disappointment with my situation. He assured me that my experience is unfortunately the exception to their typical patient experience. I was informed that the NP I had been assigned to was "only part-time and here less than a month". I did not ever receive any communication from Ponce Primary Care to notify me that my assigned provider was departing or to invite me to call to schedule with another provider for seamless continuity of care. I was told that my imaging results were never sent by the imaging facility I went to and that "this is where the wheels came off". That is absolutely possible but it was also not confirmed to be true at the time of the statement. The report not being in the patient chart does not mean it was never received by the ordering office or sent to the ordering provider. Sometimes things get scanned and assigned incorrectly, or not scanned at all. Lots of possibilities there. To me, that shows a lack of accountability for not holding a supervisory review of a departing provider's caseload/EMR task list and it also fails to consider that an out-of-state fax number associated with the ordering provider could be the problem. I waited 6 months for a new patient appointment and, whatever the circumstances, was lost in the shuffle. I will not be continuing with this practice, although I'm sure they have many satisfied patients as evidenced by their overall rating. My advice if you wish to establish/continue care here: Be able to advocate for yourself and for your own healthcare. Be knowledgeable about when to follow up on your care in case the practice doesn't. If the wait is still 6 months out for a new patient appointment when you try to schedule, do not think an extra special or VIP experience awaits you - realize that they just might be too busy to accept new patients.

From start to finish, everyone was extremely helpful and nice to us as I escorted my Uncle to every area of the hospital. I came to the emergency room because I believed I was experiencing a medical emergency--not because I had a choice. I left not only grateful for the medical care, but shocked by the charges that followed. As an insured, working American who pays taxes and health insurance premiums, I found it difficult to understand how basic items and routine services could be billed at prices that seem disconnected from reality. Patients don't comparison-shop during emergencies, and they shouldn't be financially punished for seeking care. The standard response is always, "That's just how healthcare works." But those prices are set by people. Leadership chooses the policies that determine what patients are charged. The medical staff earned my appreciation. The billing practices earned this review. I hope the leadership of this organization takes a hard look at whether its financial priorities truly reflect its mission to care for the community.

My mother would call for help and no one would come. I hired a person to come sit with my mom and they found a way to kick her out of the building because she was bringing up issues of negligence to attention. I was traveling and a friend stopped by to see my mom. She called me hysterical because my mom was in her urine and feces . I have photos of this happening TWICE. But the worst part is my mother had been complaining of pain in her leg. I asked the staff to do an x-ray. They never did. After my friends call I took my mother out in 24 hours and put her in a 4 bedroom home. They proactively did the xrays and determined my mom fractured her hip. That is a death sentence. My mother told me she tried to get up to go to the bathroom after waiting forever, and she fell. She was #&#(#(@ BLIND!! How hard is it to help someone to the bathroom??? I guess to Tucker Wellness, it was worth letting her die. I had few options for my mother as she was on Medicaid. In hindsight I should have not gone back to work and just let everything go financially to keep my mother alive. It wasn't worth it. My mother died in pain. DO NOT PUT YOUR LOVED ONES HERE IF THEY ARE UNABLE TO MOVE AROUND, TALK, SEE OR THINK FOR THEMSELVES.

The meter was broke so I had to get assistance from the parking assistant. When I finally got in the building after waiting in line, they informed me that I was 11 minutes late so my appointment was canceled. I explained I had been there for 20 minutes trying to park but it was broken and they provided no guidance on how to park in their garage. I just moved here from out of state. Once I showed them the address THEY provided in Mychart, they realized they never provided parking instructions or the address to the garage. They told me I can try and come back 4 hours later after I already took off work. They provided poor communication and were extremely rude. I will never recommend this office or location.
