The room we rented was dirty. There was all sorts of bugs in the room. No A/C, no heat. When we…read morecalled to complain , they wouldn't answer the phone. I called about 20 times and still no response. I wouldn't recommend this place to anybody.

I would give this place zero stars if I could!! As a person who has a disease that has ruined my…read morelungs being in an environment with mold growing all over the walls is potentially very harmful. The owners are TERRIBLE people who threatened us with lawyers for telling them that their business is poorly run. It is a motel that is run like an airbnb with a code you put in to get into your room. There is no staff on site. After emailing the owners about the dirty towels, dirty bedding, dirty pillows and possible MOLD they said that it hasn't been cleaned in "2 weeks" due to a family emergency in the hospital. It seems to me like if you can't clean your property then you should cancel and refund any existing reservations. People left their shampoo in the shower the last time someone was there and that wasn't removed further proving the place wasn't cleaned. The hand towel had something yellow all over it. The bedding had some type of red sauce (maybe blood?) stain all over it and was always damp due to the massive ac/heating unit that is too big for the room. We had to purchase our own toilet paper as there wasn't any and the remote to the tv had batteries that had exploded in it. We also purchased our own batteries so we could use the tv at night. The door facing the road was UNLOCKED. The owners are not locals and live in NJ and frankly do not care about this property as proven by the fact that they're trying to sell it (for 1.1 million dollars. For a potentially mold infested motel!)

This place is simply an outstanding Adirondack experience! If you're looking to be pampered and…read morewaited on constantly I recommend The Plaza in New York City, but for a mountain experience this place has it all. Just finished a weeklong stay and had a wonderful time. Room was spotless and well maintained, as was the laundry facility. Being a fisherman, I hit the dock every morning, but first stopping at the office for a complementary coffee and baked good of the day. The motel offers guests kayak and canoe usage free of charge, with larger boat rentals available at very reasonable rates. The proprietors, Rick and Chris, are genuinely friendly and will bend over backward to provide you with anything you need (within reason). Gas grills and firepits are available, with firewood available at very reasonable prices. Took advantage of the chairs and picnic areas, both motel and lakeside, to enjoy the tranquil evenings and chat with the neighbors. Having Summered in the area for years in my youth, I try to get back every year or two. And when I do, the Oxbow is my motel of choice. For a genuine Adirondack experience, it provides everything and lacks nothing.

We stayed in one of their efficiency units-- which had a small kitchen stocked with dishes, cutlery, pots and pans-- there's also a BBQ available if you want to grill something. When we stayed there back in August, there was a little farm vegetable and fruit stand in front of their place--which was terrific, because we were able to get fresh veggies and fruits to have for with our meals. We also rented a canoe and a kayak to spend time in the evening and morning on the beautiful lake watching and listening to the loons. Additionally, there's fire wood for sale if you just want to sit by the fire pit in the evening while gazing at the stars. We highly recommend this lovely place.
