After 42 miles on the trail individuals in the group had some equipment issues that needed immediate attention before committing to the next 45 mile section of trail. We were not anticipating staying in Piseco but it was a must. We approached this picturesque historical Adirondack property (not far from Piseco Bob's and the NPT trailhead) after 4 days on the trail... without a shower... to inquire about rooms to sort our issues in a dry place. We smelled like a gang of wet bears that just emerged from hibernation... wandering a hot landfill for food; absolutely repulsive. The inn keeper, Jen, is very accommodating to hikers. She was able to rent us 3 rooms (cheaper than any mainstream hotel ...anywhere on the planet), offered us hot coffee, and assisted us in finding laundry services to clean our heavily punished clothing. We were also invited to the $12 breakfast buffet and told to make ourselves at home while on the property (kayaks, beach, porch, etc). Jen and her staff are amazing humans and infinitely accommodating. They are truly the unsung trail angels of the NPT.

The hotel is up to par with many boutique hotels that we've stayed in countrywide. The decor is classy and decorated with lovely old pictures of Boonville, the staff was very friendly and helpful. The lobby had a cute sitting area and a breakfast room, plus they were well equipped with maps for snowmobiling, and the local area. Our room was roomy, clean with a comfy bed, a mini fridge, and had plenty of info about the surrounding towns including restaurants, and fun local activities. If I wasn't a native, this would be certainly helpful.

I tried to discreetly report this to this to the general manager so that they could address it. The manager yelled at me, spoke over me, and called me "trouble". I would not trust these people with your families. I had my two little boys with me and I am very disappointed with myself for trusting this place with their safety. The box springs looked to be about 20 years old and weren't wrapped. Additionally the jetted tubs were dingy, there were lots of overgrowing weeds, and the bolts in the waterfront Adirondack chairs were loose. We stayed on Friday June 29th. We were staying at the motel for the weekend to attend a funeral and wake on Sunday July 1st. We were also planning to celebrate my husband's birthday on Saturday. We drove an extra 4 hours to go home Saturday and come back Sunday since we couldn't stay here with 2 little children who were very unhappy to be in the car. I had to clean my funeral attire on hot heat to destroy any bed bugs and damaged my dress shoes. I had to spend my Monday morning before work going to the doctor look at the bites. I can only imagine what other unsafe conditions exist at this motel. I would not trust them with my family again. It is a shame that they are ruining such a beautiful location with mismanagement and also soiling the reputation of a great area.

The people at the barn were very friendly and helpful. The trails could have been a little clearer, but it was still an enjoyable ride. The main lodge was a log cabin, with beautiful views and a couple of fireplaces. I had expected the decor inside to be more rustic (Yellowstone-ish), but some areas were not, which was a little disappointing. The food was nicely presented and delicious. But the time it took from ordering to actually getting the food was very long. The meals, I thought, were pricey for what you got. Also, there are two different menus. Ours was the same 3 or 4 entrees for Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner for the entire 4-day stay. We went off the property for a couple of meals to have something different. There is a gift store on the property, which is in great need of a facelift. The people who work there were very nice and went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. Check-in and check-out were easy.

We visited this resort many times when we were kids and had wonderful memories, but this trip made us wish we had left those memories in the past. For the amount of money we paid, the experience was unacceptable. The food was terrible. There was very little variety, and it felt like we were eating frozen TV dinners every night. Chicken was served repeatedly, the quality was poor, and there were almost no appealing options. The pools were disgusting. One of them had a massive clump of hair floating in it, which completely turned us off from swimming. Cleanliness throughout the property seemed to be a major issue. The horseback riding was another huge disappointment. Our family consists of experienced riders, yet every ride was restricted to walking only. There was no effort to accommodate different experience levels, making the rides incredibly boring. To make matters worse, the trail guides and trainers came across as rude and unfriendly. The rooms were equally disappointing. One of our family's rooms had so much mouse droppings that housekeeping had to come back and clean it again. Finding mouse poop in a room you're paying premium prices for is completely unacceptable. Overall, this resort feels like a shadow of what it once was. It has become an overpriced tourist trap that no longer delivers the quality or experience it advertises. We left feeling ripped off and extremely disappointed. Save yourself the money and book somewhere else. We certainly won't be returning.

Prices vary depending on how much you can and want to spend and how much room you and your others need. Besides all this, the chapel services can meet the spiritual needs if you want that. The music has been exceptional. The snack shop (TeePee) is great, ice cream cones are huge, sticky buns a great habit. The fact that most of the people on staff and probably most of the guests are followers of Christ makes a difference in the whole atmosphere. Fun, wholesome, considerate, and kind people are everywhere.

People down here do not know about it. This Camp has so much to offer, you feel like you missed so much when the week is over. Most of us feel that its continued success and growth is/was due to Norm Sonju, the former GM of the Dallas Mavericks. His fingerprints are all over the Camp. Still fairly conservative in music and preaching along evangelical lines. One summer, they had Alistair Begg, Sinclair Ferguson, and John Guest back to back to back. We were hoping to see Queen Elizabeth that summer!!!! But it is rare to have three Calvinists in one summer!!!! David E

Very cute cottages, I hear its great for cross country skiing, ice skating, real reindeer's!, and…read morenordic bowling. I went here on my one year anniversary for one night and it was very cute. The owners greeted us warmly and warmed up our cottage before we got there. The cottage is a very simple layout, full kitchen and ours was the Ruska which has 3 bedrooms. Even though we were there in December they did not have enough snow for cross country skiing or snow shoeing. It was a bummer but the owners let us rent our sleds and ice skates at no charge because of mother natures inability to cooperate during the holiday week. They also set up a nordic bowling game on the frozen lake which was fun. We were also able to take a hike on the snowshoe trail which also appealed to us. The negatives were that their food if you chose to eat at their little restaurant was terrible (bring your own food!) and that when you do cook you have to make sure to clean up after yourself (no house keeping) It was a nice get away with the hubby however I want our next winter escape to be a little more pampered.
