I go every year. It's so much fun. The crafts are unique and the atmosphere is casual.

The event brings in a lot of vendors in and around Huntington Beach. This was my first Taste of HB event. There were breweries, wineries, food, and even grocery vendors. The food and drink is all inclusive with admission which means you get your money's worth just by walking around and trying everything out. It began at 11 am for VIP and 12 pm for the general public going until 4 pm. If you brought your lawn chair you can camp out for the entire time enjoying the live entertainment and sunshine. You park at the HB Sports complex where parking is $1 for the entire day or you could valet for $5. Highlights for me were the spicy edamame from Reef's Edge Grill (Shorebreak), Three Twins ice cream, Strongbow cider, Pan Roast from Ritter's, and the corn and watermelon samples from Solita's Tacos. Great event and can't wait to check it out next year.

It was a little hard to find empty tables to seat since there weren't much seats avaliable. During tasting hours, we tried so much food from the booths. I appreciate how Taste of HB has many tasting booths (40+) for everyone to try! The lines weren't that much of a wait, but there was a lot of people so it was hard to get through. We went for multiple rounds for most of the booths and enjoyed every booth's food! Our experience here was enjoyable. They had bands playing and other giveaways going on. Parking wasn't a haggle. I'm planning to go here again this upcoming year! Can't wait. You guys should go check it out.

The cruise of lights is put on by Orange County's Philharmonic Society. Tickets were $26 per person and the proceeds go to youth musical education programs. Not too expensive and for a good cause, I'm in! We met in a plaza, where they took you by school bus to the yacht club to get on the cruise. Everything ran so smoothly, from check in, the bus ride, and until arriving at the dock. My group, and the people in my line had come early. There was a line that later formed next to us as people trickled in later, closer to show time and even late! Yet, they all got on the boat first. My line was left getting on an already full boat with what looked like only poor seating was left. I didn't think this was really fair as we'd braved the cold for much longer. They were really trying to get a few more of us on the full boat. I tried to keep the holiday spirit but was not getting on that boat. Other in line expressed that they were not happy either and none of us wanted to get on the full boat. We were all able to get on the next boat :) It also said that there would be Christmas music and there was! It was fun, there was a live local high school band performing for us in line at the dock. Christmas music was also played on the boat. It also stated that there would be a narrated tour, but I will say it got a little awkward some bits, there were few giggles and wandering eyes. I don't know what I was expecting but it wasn't a description of the decorated homes like "on your right is a home decorated with white lights and red bows". I do wish more homes participated, there were even times where we were left in dark, because of how dark a certain area was! This doesn't count against Cruise of Lights though, just a thought on what to expect. Despite those little tiffs, everything was still enjoyable. Even the fog cleared up so we could see everything better. Although a little unorganized, there were many staff members directing, and all were very nice. The cruise definitely got us in the mood for Christmas! Would I do this again? I would, like I said it is inexpensive and it goes to a good cause, they mean well. I'd do it again, but with so many other Christmas events/activities available, Cruise of Lights probably won't be at the very top of my list.

Plenty of tables to sit at and enjoy the event. There was a variety of traditional and Japanese street food to try in one place. I had the Tokyo Yakisiba spicy noodles with egg and it was so good (it was worth the wait). You can see Happy Man cooking the food and spreading his happiness. Shake Ramen was a different kind of way to eat ramen and it was so tasty. The fried Oreos from drizzle were so addicting and melted in your mouth . It was nice to see everyone coming out to support OCCBFest since this was the first time in 3 years. Entrance was free and parking was free, plus free entertainment. The Orange County Cherry Blossom Festival has been inspired by and helped to fund an international student exchange program between Huntington Beach and its sister city, Anjo, Japan.

Sponsor Yakult was giving out free samples of their probiotic drinks and tote bags. Hubby's not shy. He scored two bags and too many of those little samples. He really liked the yogurty taste. "Um, hon? I asked the girl and these drinks are supposed to be a one-a-day dose. How many have you had so far?" We planted ourselves smack dab in the middle of everything, kicked off our flip-flops and wiggled our toes into the soft sand. The gentle breeze was so welcoming! There were a lot of people, but there was plenty of room for everyone to claim their own little sandlot. http://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=Tuq59VSdqnCmotr_910JoQ&select=hX0Miqre_4i_oY-_i7r6AQ As we ate our bento, we enjoyed watching more and more kites being launched upwards. We saw the honored Japanese Kite Master, Mikio Toki, running this way and that. Had a great vantage point to watch a graceful Sport Kite Ballet. Amazing what those guys did! Listened to the beats of Myo Onji Daiko group. The hubby was kind of regretting not going into the garage and digging out one of the kids' old kites. I could tell he was wanting to fly one! Some folks had fancy kites. One guy had a camera tied on his kite line and he said that he had it on automatic. Pretty cool idea! Overall, good fun for all ages whether you're a spectator or participant. This was a really nice afternoon! I had a lot of fun just people-watching. Little kids are so amusing. Why? As I recall Nguyen hue didn't have a food court. This had a food court which took over a side street n boy was that fun, they had my favorite "banh khot fr Vung Tau" grilled lobster tail. Soups, pancakes etc.. all the yummy street food you can afford wo having to sell your house these days. The flowers were amazing orchids, gladiolus there were many juicery stands, beef jerky stores, I bought a nice fake Chanel sweater only $25 just as good as the real thing. They also sell red envelopes for "lixi" happy or lucky money, on week ends they had live music n lion dance. I love the Asian Garden mall the only indoor mall we have here. Vietnamese from 49 states came here every year n most will immediately make plan to move to this land of milk n honey, it used to be really easy to move here n so cheap too. An average home I used to sell for $140k is now $1.4 million in Little Saigon so most VN tourists will just hang out here enjoy the ambiance, the food n have to go home, even then it's so worth it to visit a home away from home.

Think glowing sunflower rooms, swirling balloon installations (like walking through a shower of balloons), lantern decorating stations, misty walkways, and tons of interactive photo ops. It gives indoor theme-park energy, so lots of walking, lots of movement, very hands-on. A few realistic notes for parents: Bring hand sanitizer. This is a highly interactive space and kids will want to touch everything. There's also mist in some areas, so if you have allergies, just be mindful. The only downsides: There was a noticeable mildew smell near the restroom area, and in one darker outdoor section I stepped into a puddle from something dripping overhead. That could've been a slipping hazard, especially for kids. I alerted staff immediately. Creativity and imagination factor? 9/10. Maintenance concerns brought it down a bit. Even with the hiccups, my kids couldn't stop talking about it afterward. It's a fun, visually stimulating experience and worth checking out at least once.
