Old work is nearby me and they have tons of events and good food for people to experience. When they have certain events such as Oktoberfest or even the Christmas event, it's so much fun and they have different vendors and items/themes to check out. Oktoberfest is always a fun time at old world! I've gone for the past two years and it's a pretty fun experience. It does get pretty packed so I do suggest getting a table if you are going in a large group. All the food is really good and the vibes will definitely not let you down even though it's half indoor and half outdoor it gets pretty hot due to it being packed so just keep that in mind. If I only had to pick one dish to eat, it's definitely the pretzel bratwurst. I get that every year and it's so good. Definitely recommend coming here to celebrate! read more

Beer, beer and more beer! PROST! Lol! come to Oktoberfest for a great time, a taste of the old world, surprise this is Little Munich in Huntington Beach. My kids grew up listening to German music blasting out of my husband radio, going to German school in the Lutheran church off beach boulevard and going to mass in the church of this OLD WORLD German enclave . The 1st time we walked in it was surreal, Mr Josef Bischof had built this Little Germany paradise almost 50 years ago, he was what a real immigrant was like at the turn of the century. Many shops selling Birkenstock went out of business but overall it is still very much Little Germany. We had met his son who took over after Mr Josef retired, we wanted to go to Oktoberfest on opening day but was busy and could not make it, we were so sad to find out Mr Bischof had passed away and the opening day there was a memorial for him, I would have dropped every plan to attend had I known, this is what this place means to me, a home away from home for my husband who bought his cold cuts to make sandwiches for himself and the kids for school, in the old days, schools are for learning not for free school lunches, I made healthy sandwiches w German cold cuts and cornichons for everybody. The delicatessen here had delicious gherkins imported from Germany. My daughters loved the dachhund dog race, the Oompah band, by the way on week ends come enjoy the Oompha band flown in from Munich during Oktoberfest. We went on a week day and there was only a live local band they sang in German and everybody enjoyed dancing the chicken dance. It was shocking I actually loved German food, I had a huge Polish wurst really cheap $14 it came with sauerkraut, french fries, it was so delicious, my 1st time in Munich I went back to Paris after 3 days, I could not eat the wurst or sauerkraut, I hated mustard, they had no 7up only Coke, I now only drink Coke after my husband taught me to drink this! my husband had sauerbraten and potato pancakes, sauerbraten is a German dish that was like a beef stew cooked in wine and vinegar, it was delicious. After dinner, we went to the Oktoberfest side, it was free if you show you had dinner or it would be only $5 to get in, week ends it is $30 I think as they had to pay the Oompah band. Another year, another Oktoberfest! This time, we went on the last day of the festival. It was surprisingly quiet for a Saturday night, but we still had a great time. The food was tasty, and the drinks were on point. Some people were dressed up, while others weren't, so it's a relaxed vibe where you can enjoy however you like. The setup was cute--it had a village feel with shops and restaurants around before you enter the fest area. Parking was super easy thanks to the structure right across the street. DISORGANIZED. they make everyone line up in the same line even if you purchased your tickets online. nope you have to wait with everyone. if you wanted to skip the line you had the option to pay an additional $100.00 on top of the $36 you had previously paid. their incentive was a free beer which had a value of $14 at least. food was okay and OVERPARICED. we paid over $60.00 for sausage, mashed potatoes and mac and cheese??? like how ?? i cant believe this is the best that is out there and we visited from LA for this. they need to upgrade their coordination and have service improve tremendously. read more

Really did not want to write this review but it's been weighing heavy on my heart and feel I need to. I want to make sure other people don't experience the same things I and the people in my party went through. We were celebrating my fiancés birthday party this last Sunday during the Oktoberfest. We were having a blast and food and atmosphere was great. When I went to the bar that serves hard alcohol and beer in the outside patio I ordered a beer for myself my fiancé already had a drink back at our table the bartender asked us if we would like a to try a "SAMPLE" of the peach schnapps and my natural reaction was oh wow thank you sure. Bartender poured out two shots and got me my beer. He charged me 48 dollars. I got sticker shock from the price. I told him whoa that a bit much for a beer did you charge the shots I thought you said they were "samples". His response was oh no I never said that I asked if you wanted to have a shot of the peach schnapps. I was really flustered and stood my ground and said no you clearly said would you like to try a sample of the peach schnapps. There were two ladies close by that overheard me and approached us and said yeah he did the same thing to us too, we ordered 2 beers and he charged us 68 dollars Bartender started to look nervous and began apologizing he said I'm sorry for the misunderstanding I thought I was clear and the two ladies said no that's very misleading. There was a long line behind me and I was so bothered by it I just paid. I did not go back to that outside patio bar, there were multiple stands and two other inside bars where they were not pulling this trick and serving drinks. I was little embarrassed by what had happened so I did not bring it up right away. I mentioned it later to my group and come to find out it happened to three other people in my group. At this point I was very upset and asked to speak to a manager the security guard directed me to a guy named Ron and when I told Ron what was going on he said he would look into it. He later approached me and said I apologize for the misunderstanding. I said said it's not a misunderstanding it's a very underhanded way to make extra money for the bar. Most people when you tell them "would you like to try a sample of blank" don't think they will be charged for it so it's very sneaky. Then when confronted about the high tab denying they used the word sample is even worse. He said he would credit me back in my card and return the price I was charged for the two shots. When I said it happened to three other people in my group he said sorry there's no way for me to track all the purchases. Told him that's bad business to do these underhanded tricks. Beers are already expensive here as it is over 20 bucks for just one. Please people if you go don't try the samples at the bar and if you do ask if you'll be charged for them. I've wanted to go to Oktoberfest fest for many years now. My husband's friend had extra tickets so we went last night. It was fun. Nice to get out. Had a live German band/music. I had no idea Oktoberfest here would be so crowded! I still had a fun time regardless, but I will say it was PACKED. Pretty disorganized, we had to figure out what each lines were for. They are open on select days so keep that in mind! Wed & Thurs are free. Friday-Sunday range from $10-20 I believe. You still have a book an online ticket for Wed & Thurs even though it's free. When we got there on Wednesday at 6:30 PM, there was already a line way out the entrance. They make you go through security & scan your ticket. The two food lines were pretty long & it took about 30 minutes to get to the front & grab our food. The hardest part was finding a table. We had to share a table with another group. All the tables inside are reserved. It was really lively & there's girls who come around trying to sell shots of jager. I really wanted to drink beer from the glass boot, but you have to buy the glass from the souvenir shop, which costs $40 for the smaller one. Way too expensive in my opinion. The grapefruit beer was really refreshing. If you try to buy drinks in the patio, it's cash only. The pork stew just melts in your mouth but was really expensive at $26. The pretzel was only offered in the large size at $12, but it was moist & the dip was delicious. The bratwursts were nice & juicy despite having no sauce. I liked the Hungarian Bratwurst (smoked pork, garlic & paprika) which had a spicy kick over the Nurnberger bratwurst (pork & veal) which was more peppery. The bratwurst combo was $24 & the single sausage on a roll was $12. The potato salad & Sauerkraut were suoer tasty to me. Overall, pretty fun if you have low expectations. I came this past Saturday and our group all had tickets but the line wrapped through Old World in between all the shops. SUPER long line....we were told it would take 2+ hours. Disorganized for sure. I'm sure people in line didn't have tickets, some w/ tickets and some not smart enough to go to the front of the line and upgrade to a front of the line pass. We ended up doing this and SKIPPING the long ass line by paying an extra $60 at the door. This came with a free beer ticket at least ($18 value). USE PROMO CODE "OKTHB50" for 50% off tickets online. I suggest using this for the VIP one ($100) which comes with a front of the line pass and a free beer coupon. Inside it was still a good time!!! Full of fun energy. Octoberfest beer garden - I haven't been here in years but I my son (22) asked about it and we went. What a blast from the past. We went on the last Thursday of October, so it was still free, crowded but not overcrowded and fun! Beers are now ~$20 and brats $12+ (good) but it's a $6 Starbucks world now, which I'm still trying to getting used to. Improvement in infrastructure since my last visit and decorations which made it even more German! The mid-week smaller polka band on the side stage was great. They played all the polka favs and some rock hits too (Beatles), and they even pulled out the ginormous 15 foot horn! Glad we did because if we didn't, we wouldn't have had a table! We literally snagged THEE last standing table. Every single table was reserved. So everyone had to stand if they didn't reserve a table. And throughout the night, because it was raining, they PACKED the small inside area and it just became uncomfortable, especially since people can't have a drink while on the dancefloor, so it limited the space even more. The ambiance was eh. I've been to other Oktoberfest locations that felt more lively and engaging with more culture built into their presentations. And there were definitely boring parts that just felt dull. Parking was free at the structure so that's good. Food was also really good so I can't knock that. That's a star kept on alone because their bratwursts were super delicious. And the cute little German grandpa host was another star kept because he's adorable, fun, and has been doing this for so many years! This event is a scam. They charge you $25 a ticket and then you go into the event and beers are TWENTY DOLLARS EACH. And they aren't even special hard-to-find find German beers! It's just Spaten and Warsteiner which you can find at any Total Wine! Brats are $14 each without anything on them, but a combo with potato salad and sauerkraut is $24?!? This was our first year participating in Oktoberfest at Old World. We were there specifically for the Dachshund races and nothing more. Ticket Prices are pretty reasonable and we got there early so we didn't get long lines like another reviewer started so that's a plus, BUT the place gets crowded and it does so pretty fast. Once we picked our seats we weren't able to get up without someone wanting to take them, so we had to take turns using the restroom, walking around, getting drinks. It was chaos. I couldn't even enjoy the event because if we walked around we'd get stuck in a crowd of people for a few minutes without any movement. It was frustrating. We didn't try any food because we were still full from the big breakfast we ate. It looked so good though. The dog races were fun and fun to watch. Compared to Oktoberfest at the Phoenix Club which may be the best organized in Socal in Anaheim & Alpine Village in Torrance with their huge tent, Old World in Huntington Beach may be the most intimate in size. The event that may be unique to Old World is their parade held as the opening to their Oktoberfest. It has a small town feel where men in Lederhosen bear flags of Bundes Republik Deutschland, Bayern, U.S. and play an accordion & drum while women & girls in Dirndl bear the Old World banner. They march throughout the village going around all the shops. Be sure to visit Eschenburg Delicatessen run by a quietly charming German lady which reminds me of going to outlying villages in Bavaria. Entry fees vary by the day. See posted photo below. There are arrogant Bratwurst w/ cheese or steamed in IPA on a roll, BBQ Pork sandwich, roasted chicken, sides of German potato salad, Sauerkraut, sauteed onions, mashed potato & gravy. For the unadventurous, there are hamburgers & hot dogs. Of course, there are German beers vom Fass/on tap such as Paulaner Oktoberfest, Spaten Oktoberfest, Warsteiner Oktoberfest, etc. Unfortunately they offer Bud Light (Ugh!) that no self respecting German would ever put to their lips as heresy against Reinheitsgebot, the German Purity law for beer "by Duke Wilhelm IV of Bavaria, the decree allows for only hops, barley, water and, later, yeast in every Bierkrug." Ragtag Bavarian Umpapa band, small courtyard for outdoor drinking, small room indoors, make for a claustrophobic experience. Not for those who are enochlophobic. Been to this place several times for special events for a few years now with my group. In the beginning they were pretty neat. It started out so nice. But over time, they slowly started to go downhill. The last time my group and I visited them for Oktoberfest we had a disappointing time. Their communication was poor getting back to me about a reservation. When we started eating, one of my guests went to use the restroom and the floors were dirty and had food around the tables and one of my guest slipped on it and really hurt their wrist. Later on, when I had a billing issue they first told me would be fine and they'd refund me no problem, then later when I called to confirm someone else on the phone said "well do this as a favor this once but normally we don't do that, next time you'll have to pay and take the food home." Disappointment. We come with a large group and buy from the market and Bakery, but I'm now looking for a new place to celebrate oktoberfest. No more dealing with their attitude. My wife and I went on October 1st, 2023, and didn't like it. First of all, the food price is prohibitive. It was $24 or $26 a plate is very costly. That plate gives you one hot dog or one piece of chicken and two side dishes. It's a total rip-off! Secondly, beers are not cheap as well. One cup of beer costs $18 plus tax and tip, so you are looking at an average of at least $20 a cup. The ambiance is below average. Nothing was going on aside from a live band. The whole experience could have been better. I would never celebrate Octoberfest in that place again. They overhype it since the area is a German setting, but trust me, it's not worth it. SteelCraft Garden Grove, CA, Octoberfest is WAY BETTER. If you can't go to Germany for Oktoberfest, the next best thing is to hang out at Old World. The official Oktoberfest celebration, which includes lively music, mouthwatering food and lots of beers. It normally starts from Mid September to October. It has been a while since I have been to Old World for Oktoberfest, so It was super awesome to be back after few years off. The original Oktoberfest celebration started in 1810, when Bavarian Crown Prince Ludwig married Princess Therese Von Sachsen-Hildburghausen, all the citizens were invited to the celebration. Since then, the festival has grown and modeled after it all over the world I was lucky enough to be invited by my friend, Alan with Azoulay, who was hosting this event. I got in with free VIP admission. This included free food (bratwurst or chicken with 2 sides), free dessert (german apple strudel), free german or domestic beer. I also got to be seated inside with VIP table. It was definitely a great time. This place was pack to capacity of 2000 people. I would suggest you get tickets ahead of time and get there early to find seating. PS, this place has free parking. The weather was perfect to be outdoor as some activities were outside (ex: Weiner dog race, kiddie tent, food /alcohol/ merchandize vendors, Creepy reptile exhibit). It was definitely children friendly as they had children Halloween contest. Indoor activities including : other contest, live band, more food/dessert vendors and dancing Overall, this festival was enjoyable, casual and lots of fun. You can easily meet people and enjoy the night away. I highly recommend you come to this festival at least once. I've been coming here for years and it's going downhill. Waited in line for almost 2 hours. We had tickets and reserved a table for $200. Didn't matter. They try to get you to buy the VIP passes for $100 per ticket to skip the line. We got to the front of the line to say they were at capacity and made us wait another 30 minutes. How could they be at capacity if we bought tickets and reserved a table 2 months ago?? Next year we will go someplace else. What a scam. read more

BRING CASH!!! we went last night 10/5 and since i only needed to purchase my ticket we had to get them at the door which was $10.00. Normally we would take the Groupon deal which was 2 tickets for $8.00. Parking for the event is in the structure across the street by the apartment complexes but you can also try to find parking in the old world lot if security doesn't stop you. Most of the booths were Cash only!! they have a few Atm machines available. Restrooms are located at the front of the event and they have hidden ones inside the Old world restaurant behind the stage !! There were plenty of seating areas if you came early but once around 8/9 it overall got packed. A few stands offered food but mainly Cash only, The funnel cake were about 8/9 dollars each and the Bratwurst cost about 9. They offered a variety of traditional German Beers and also non Germans beers like Bud-light. read more

The lines are ridiculous. We got the ticket online but it looked like it'll be another 2-3 hours to get in. We ended up paying for VIP but man, there were more lines. Beer? There's a line. Food? Line. Forget about finding a spot at a table because they're all reserved. There's no open seating. We asked one table and a fellow patron flashed his phone with a text that will be $40 per person to sit 20 minutes at his table. He could have declined and said no, I'll charge you. But he just gave us a stank face and flashed his phone with the info. WTF. After a little bit of time, I took my dirndl-wearing butt outside and left the venue. Completely ridiculous and absolute huge fail. Been here many times and enjoyed. We prebought a table and tickets.. $300 for a table plus the tickets, and we are forced to wait in the same line as everyone...including those without tickets. Been waiting an hour now to get in. Total ripoff. 2 stars for music and beer only. They are trying to get people to but their priority passes for $100. But isn't reserved table the same? Not in this case.
