The best part was Tim created custom covers which he stuccoed and painted to match our house and they blend in absolutely perfectly. I had been worried that adding hurricane shutters to our home would be ugly- Tim and his team ensured that nothing could be further from the truth. We had an appointment for bind fittings for our vacation house in Edgewater, Florida today (August…read more7, 2018) at 2:30pm. We received a phone call around 11:30 on August 7 asking if we could make the appointment at 12:30 instead. We were unable to make the 12:30 appointment due to prior obligations and asked to keep the original time at 2:30. Budget Blinds then decided to cancel our 2:30 appointment for seemingly not wanting to wait around until 2:30 to complete the measurements and allow us to order blinds to be installed. We are not from the Central Florida area and are disappointed in how Budget Blinds handled their obligation to us as paying customers. Where we live, it is unheard of for a company to cancel an appointment and forego a paying customer. Seemy turning down business appears to be the Budget Blinds way and we will be sure to discuss this issue with the owners/representatives of the Budget Blinds company. We understand a desire to head home early (by pushing our appointment up two hours), however, Budget Blinds cutting their nose spite their face (losing a paying customer because we could not accommodate a change in appointment times) is not smart business and damages relationships in the community. Unfortunately, we will have to find another company to work with and wait for new blind for another year!

Now, I understand that everything, as in every little thing, has to be custom made to fit to your application, and I expect it to take some time, but for me, with hurricane season bearing down on us, four months seemed an awfully long time. Now, having said that, once our shutters were complete it went REALLY quick...only two days! They arrived with all our material on a Thursday morning, and were finished by Friday afternoon. The quality, and craftsmanship of the product is top notch, I doubt anyone installs a higher quality shutter than these guys. Let's talk about the installer (yes, one person installed all the shutters on our entire house) Bill. Bill is a credit to the Custom Storm Shutters Direct team. It's taken me 5 yrs to post this review and obviously I should have posted it a long time ago. We…read moreordered plantation shutters for our windows and for a 3-door slider door for the patio. First, they didn't get our order correct. We ordered the "Hidden Tilt" and that's not what we received. We were told that's not what we ordered but we were able to prove we did with a copy of our order so we were reimbursed for that issue. They offered to not install and take them back to a shop to fix but after waiting weeks for delivery we decided to just keep what they delivered. The shutters for the windows were great. No complaints. My real complaint is with the shutters for the sliders. We have 3 wide glass door sliders and the company apparently doesn't know how to install them. The shutters are very heavy and need to be reinforced in the middle, which they didn't do so not only does our middle shutter sit0020on the floor, it's nearly impossible to slide. Because the top is slightly deflected or bowed in the middle, the two side shutters do not sit properly either. We have big daylight gaps in parts and overlap in other parts. They had to install the side frames out of plumb by 2 inches at the bottom than the top so daylight would not show to compensate for the bowed middle. After the first attempt at installation, they were horrendous and the installer said that was the best he could do. Quickly after the installation we called the company and complained. They sent the same installer again and he made them a little better but said we had to decide which horrible look we wanted and keep it that way. But the dragging on the floor panels got worse over time. My husband has been adjusting them as much as he can, which by the way the installer told us we would need to do. We've had it that way for almost 5 years and I just can't stand looking at it and not being able to use anymore. A few months ago, my husband called and asked about getting them fixed. We were told that since it's been 5 years it would cost $75 to have someone come and just look at them and then $75 per hour if we had them worked on. My husband pushed back but was told by the company that they've installed many of them in the last 5 years without any complaints. I find that hard to believe or they've actually learned how to install them in those past 5 years. Either way, they should at least send someone out to look at them and correct since they should be able to see in our record that we weren't happy. In my opinion these shouldn't be sold if they can't be installed properly so my warning is to not order these blinds from this company for wide slider plantation style shutters.
