At every visit, they made us feel like our pets were their only patients. We were never rushed and they thoroughly went over every process and procedure our pets ever needed. They patiently answered the numerous concerns we had as first time pet parents and offered little snacks to the goodest boye and girl. We moved away and believe you me, after every visit at Benny's new vet, I always say to my husband, I MISS NICKERSON ANIMAL CLINIC!! Seriously contemplating moving back to Michigan just so we can be close to NAHC.

But then Dr Almus sold the business to a company called National Veterinary Associates (NVA). Once they purchased the practice that's when we noticed the cost of getting our pets taken care of started to rise even more and certain services being cut. Yet, we stayed loyal. The last straw so to speak was last December (2025). First off, three different vets misdiagnosed our cat for numerous months. Then, because Nickerson was listed as having a USDA veterinarian and we needed our two cats to have a specific health form filled out for international travel. With everything going on at that time, I was pretty sure that this step was going to be a non issue and these forms needed to be filled out within a certain time frame before traveling internationally. So I call to make the appointment and was advised that the person I had the plans with had been 'let go' and no longer worked there. When I brought up the fact that I needed the forms filled out by Dr. Merle, I was advised that they would call back in a couple of days after their staff meeting with corporate. No one called back, so I did and was advised that they are no longer offering that service. (Mind you, getting two cats this official health report/paperwork is NOT inexpensive.) I immediately requested that they email my records for our two cats to me as soon as possible, which they did. I quickly got online and found that St Joseph Animal Wellness had USDA certified vets and called them. They were amazingly helpful and kind, got our cats in, properly diagnosed our one cat, and they were able to get us our health certificates within the proper timeframe that we needed. My advise for anyone in the southwest Michigan area is support your locally owned veterinarian clinic/health centers for your pets. Vet care for our pets is already getting really costly, no need to line the pocket of some faceless corporation who doesn't really care about your pets or situation.

They never were as good as his old groomer and frequently gave him patchy spots, especially around his legs and neck, but it was never enough to complain about. What motivated me to write this review was just today we pick our boy up from the groomer around 4pm and took him for a walk this evening. It was dark, and we were shocked to see when we came home all 4 of his paws were bloody. They trimmed the nails on all 4 paws past the quick. We called to tell them and to make sure the person who did his nail trimming knew they caused all 4 paws to bleed. The person we spoke with told us it is normal to cut to the quick and keep it short. They said this happens when "we don't keep up with his nails". But he had gone for grooming 6wks ago and walks about 2.5 miles every day. So his nails were not long to begin with. They told us to apply some Kwik stop to his nails and he would be good. They did not offer any compensation. They simply told us the who did his nails "usually does keep them short". I am not a groomer, so I cannot say if this is normal or not from a technical standpoint. I can only say in his nearly 5 years of being groomed, we've never experienced this before, and Mutterly Love seemed pretty convinced it was normal.

I bought the bag a…read morecouple weeks ago, but didn't look for receipt as I had used my rewards card I assumed they could look up. I was told that without receipt I could only exchange for the amount (55.99). This was NOT a problem as I need dog food that my pet can eat. I picked up a 13.5 lb bag of Chicken Soup for the Soul that was 39.99 and had an attached coupon for $6 off and two 4.5 lb bags of Chicken Soup for the Soul dog food that were each on sale for 11.99 and each had a $3 off coupon attached. Because the manager pressed the wrong button in entering the coupons and instead hit "Manual MFR coupon", it completed the transaction before allowing him to enter the $6 off and both $3 off coupons. He said I could have the one 13.5 bag and one of the 4.5 bags (not both) and that I could take the two attached coupons from those two bags ($6 off and $3 off) to use on another purchase later. He was mostly concerned that his drawer would be off by the $4.25 amount that his manual coupon press did not print. He could not void what he had done, so I walked out with what he would allow. The $40 bag minus $6 and two $12 bags minus $3 each should have been $54. I should have been given both of the 4.5 lb bags in exchange. Unfair transaction because manager did not know how to ring the exchange and pressed an incorrect button and also could not void his mistake. So, life goes on and I am concerned for my sick dogs recovery. Beware of greenness dog food and beware of --- "200% guarantee" - that was printed on my exchange receipt. Thank for reading and following along with this easy math problem and my experience. Lessons learned. Have a nice day.
