Sunset. Sunsets work looked super clean and business looked well organized! I reached out to Marcus and set up a appointment for a estimate. When I met Marcus I knew he was the man for the job . I explained what I was looking for and my budget. He was very informative. Listening to him explain his thoughts on what do to my yard , was very clear. I could picture it . We set up a date right then . Marcus kept in contact with me throughout the entire process. I would text him and and we would always answer back . I saw another reviewer mentioning that Marcus was ignoring him. I don't know the circumstances on that . I do know that Marcus is a very busy man. He's not sitting behind a desk. He's actually working right with his crew. I have had to wait for a call while he finished pouring concrete. I was told to just text him and he will get back to me . Marcus was very easy to talk to . He answered any & all questions I had. They just finished my yard the other day. And I have to tell you it looks fantastic!! Marcus and his team did a wonderful job . Everything is very clean. I love my yard!! They connected my sprinklers to my energy efficient irrigation system. Then explained about watering schedule. I even got a detailed text from Marcus on how to take care of my lawn. Had our pool redone by Sunset Landscaping in 2021. Did a good job, until we found out there was a leak in the rock foundation that didn't get sealed. So getting them to come back out to repair it was a project. Then within 2 years of the pool getting redone, the cock all around the pool is coming out everywhere, and we have been continuously losing tiles around the pool. I would think that the tiles wouldn't be falling out this soon after remodel. Also, we got pebble tech done, and that is sooooo rough. We have children and they also end up with scrapes all over them every time they are in the pool. It is also very uncomfortable to sit on while relaxing in the hot tub. read more

This is a great service to hire. I found Marcus very knowledgeable in my needs, and offered alternatives to consider to help keep costs down. His crew was super efficient, and they got the project done early and with beautiful results. They knew I wanted to build a garden strip next to my walkway and offered to cut it out a little wider for me to help me get it started - no charge for that, and there were heaps of roots from my large tree they had to deal with - so it was very much appreciated. I'll definitely be hiring them again for more projects. So much to do around here and they have a wide set of skills to help with pretty much anything you need around your landscaping. I worked with Marcus starting about 2 years ago at my new development house. Only things I. The backyard was the pool we just had put in. And it's a good sized lot plus the front area I had redone. The work went well, and I was pleased. Few months ago I worked with him to add a couple pieces in the back and swap out stuff in the front that they had planted that I did not like and had said I didn't want that type of plant. He replaced them no charge. Didn't even get a bill for the pieces I added that I planned to pay for. But after the moving of plants things started not working right. I have a few plants that have completely died. And have just discovered today the additional sprinkler system he put in is leaking. Half the plants moved aren't getting water and are dead. And I have a puddle forming where no water should even be. I had been concerned that the soil my trees are planted in has shrunk and roots of the trees are visible under. I was told it was fine. After the horrible winds 3 of my palms went down. I had to get ropes and get them reset. His dad came and looked and agreed something wasn't right, but Marcus insisted they needed to root (2 years after planting) I'm afraid these are going to fall on my fence or worse, one of kids or dogs the next time it storms. These trees are meant to withstand winds worse than we got and I'm not going to be able to rope them to my fence much longer. And ever since then it's been silent. I had told him I wanted to do more work on the from April/May to remove the 2 trees that was planted when built and replace with something else, and when I reached out to start the project, nothing. I've text and emailed multiple times. If I don't get it fixed more plants are going to die and my front yard is looking like trash because of this now. read more

Started out good. I called Marcus to have an estimate done for a walkway. He came out a few days later to measure and said he would get with me in a day or two with hard numbers for the estimate. He did. Emailed me the proposal , then followed up with a phone call. I told him I was in a bit of sticker shock (haven't had concrete work done in quite a while) and needed to think about it. I emailed him back about a month after initial contact and asked for a rebid based on some preliminary demo and clearing work I did myself. I even sent pictures. I waited almost two months for a response......... Crickets...... No response, nothing. I got another bid in the mean time from another contractor who was on it. Went with his competitor who banged the job out and got it done. (Outstanding looking too!) No, I didn't bother calling Sunset again. I figure if I had emailed for a re-bid that I would have received an email in return one way or another. Don't know what the circumstances were not contacting me back, but I will not be using Sunset in the future, and I do have more concrete work to do. Update: Within a few minutes of me posting this, Marcus called me. He apologized for not being able to find my email and us not being able to work on this project together. 5 stars is not enough for Marcus and his crew at Sunset Landscaping. From the inital meeting to the finish, Marcus and his team were the ultimate professionals. When we met Marcus for the estimate, not only did he listen to what we wanted, but offered suggestions of how to enhance our design ideas. He saw our vision and made it come true. He communicated in a timely manner, listened, and answered ALL of my questions, including maintenance and care of the landscaping. His crew cleaned up daily (even assembling our fence boards back after removing them daily for access) tried to keep the dust at minimal, were very conscious about my dogs needing the backyard at times, and even provided a portapotty for their crew-which never smelled or caused any inconvenience. Marcus matched the concrete beautifully in the backyard and even put a deodorizer in the turf for the dogs. Our backyard is not only dog friendly but spacious and has new outdoor living space. Our front yard was transformed from a desert oasis to the most beautiful yard on the block. Not only did they pour a 3 car driveway pad, but they created beautiful light-up steps, and laid sod with new irrigation. Additionally he allowed us to select which plants we would like in the yard and added custom lighting all around. All we can say is WOW! Neighbors stop by and admire the work, design, and craftmanship. The attention to detail was phenomenal! Many days, his father, Robert, ran the work crew. He was very attentive, answered my questions, set the watering timers and even explained how to get a watering permit from the city to make sure my new sod and plants could receive the extra waterings they needed. Once they began working at our house, they gave us timelines and hours they were working and made sure to communcate with us daily. We chose Sunset Landscaping because they were a one-stop shop-demo & removal, concrete, turf, sod, and design--they did it all! Like I said, these guys are awesome! Marcus and his team did a great job for the most part except for the finishing details and follow-up. Marcus and his team covered INE of my sprinklers with a path and also broke another one. They also removed some rock and tree stumps. They filled tree stump hole with sand? It looks hideous. Also where the rock was removed Marcus had continued to say he would come back and fill in with dirt, but never followed up. I had to buy over $200 of dirt and fill it myself. Lastly, he replaced the broken sprinkler which broke again a few days later and we had agreed on sprinkler replacement for the one that was covered without asking by the pathway and he did not do what we had agreed on. I really wanted to leave a good review and like my lawn, but I paid a significant amount of money for mediocre work with lack of follow-up. Three star rating because my path and concrete are beautiful, but he never even finished the job and I've had to spend more money fixing things. read more

We met Marcus while getting our pool done as he did our pool decking (which he and his crew did an incredible job). He was immediately responsive and receptive to our vision of our front and backyard. He went over every detail, offered suggestions, and provided a quote right away. In the back we got a large retaining wall with lights, new irrigation, new sod, fence around pool equipment, and rocks around the pool. In the front they cleaned up large bushes/tree, put new cement to extend our driveway, and cement steps with lighting. During the construction process, we had great communication and updates on what was happening. Every day the guys came to work, they did an awesome job and worked hard. They were very considerate and always cleaned up after themselves. The process went very smoothly and are so grateful for their amazing work!
