I was unsure about location to propose so Ikaika consulted me on a phone call about potential locations and times available. He was very detailed and thorough about pros and cons and tailored his service towards my preferences. Ikaika also offered back up time slots in case other circumstances changed our scheduled shoot. Ikaika was responsive throughout the day of the photoshoot. Proposing is stressful enough and Ikaika made the coordination process seamless. We got hit with rain several times, and instead of letting it derail the session, James just rolled with it. We ducked under trees, waited out the showers, and he extended our time so we never felt cheated by the weather. We have daughters who are 2 and 5, and anyone with little kids knows how that goes. The process was fast and simple--find an available date on their calendar, and either pay a deposit or the full amount. We booked a mini session. For a family of 3-6, the shoot is 30 minutes and you receive 20 photos. In addition to that, I added the sneak peek package. Since we were visiting Kauai from California, I did what most people would do when they vacation--check the weather app. It showed rain for the entire week! You can imagine how devastated I felt. I sent an email and asked for their recommendation on how to proceed. They reassured me that island weather is pretty tricky and no weather app is ever accurate. I trusted their judgement, and it gave me confidence to move forward. Fast forward to the day of the shoot. We shot at Kalapaki Beach--a beautiful, iconic beach. It did not rain, but it was overcast a bit for a period of time. That didn't bother me because they took great photos. We're grateful for their patience with our two rambunctious boys (ages 3 & 5). They worked so well with them, and our boys felt really comfortable. At one point, Kayli asked our youngest to "run to Uncle Matt" and I thought that was sweet--felt like we were treated like family. On top of that, they made sure we got all the shots we wanted--I think we may have went over the 30 minute limit. But I could tell they enjoy taking photos to get the best shots. They are so great to work with. At the end of the shoot, Kayli had a special surprise for our boys. She had them pick three things from a Magic Box full of small trinkets and toys. What a sweet and thoughtful gesture! Our boys loved it. Overall, our experience was lovely. From their first response to post photoshoot. Kayli and Matt are responsive, kind, patient and passionate about photography. They are truly professionals. I would absolutely recommend them. When we go back to visit with more of our family, I mentioned to both Kayli and Matt that we'd love to bothem again.

Me and the hubs…read morehad a civil ceremony in our hometown of San Diego but wanted some nice "wedding style" photos while we were in Kauai for our honeymoon. First and foremost I reached out to about 3 other photographers on the island, the prices were a bit high for a short session. Also because I wasn't familiar with the area I asked the other photographers if they had any suggestions, most of them were pretty vague and didn't give me much feedback. I e-mailed Josh via his website, he replied pretty quickly and I sensed the enthusiasm in his e-mails he suggested a few places in the vicinity of the area we were staying at, I Googled them (all really beautiful) and his prices were very reasonable! He was our dude! Josh is really a chill and nice guy and also very professional (he was early and flexible with our meet time) and makes you feel relaxed throughout the whole session. Even the hubs who isn't really the let's pose and take pictures type said it was a cool experience. He gave us great tips on poses and was very easy to work with. He took us to a beautiful pretty much private beach on Kauai with a gorgeous backdrop of trees, ocean, rocks and that gave a great variety to our pictures. We highly recommend having Jake as your photographer when you're on Kauai. He has a very quick turnaround for your pictures, even surprised us when he used a drone to give us a beautiful overview picture and he made a wonderful slideshow with music for us of all the photos he took.
