I updated this review, after receiving a response from the owner on a different platform. ***UPDATE*** I'd like to start by saying that I can admit when I have made a mistake. I did not need a breakdown of how a deductible works... I understand that. I simply didn't see the date on the statement (which was from the appointment where I left feeling down and unsupported by my physician). All of this, including my 1 star review, could have probably been avoided had someone simply answered the phone one of the dozens of times I called, months ago. I have paid this balance in full to your practice, despite Dr. Chan's poor bedside manner. That being said, I awaited an alleged text you said in your first voicemail to me, Dr. Rashmi, that you would leave to schedule a better time to talk. As I work full-time overnights at the hospital, and go to school full-time during the day, I would have liked the opportunity to discuss my feelings with you... but the text to your "app" never came. Secondly, I find it interesting that you claimed to "not discuss personal health on a public platform," yet you then falsely implied that I use one of the "many injectable medications." I am not now, nor have I ever, injected myself with any medication for weight loss (Ozempic, Mounjaro, etc.). Again, had you taken the time to simply review my chart you'd know that. Thank you for providing yet another example of a time when your practice jumped the gun before simply double-checking. It would have taken less than 2 minutes time to simply walk me back to the scale and confirm my weight that day. There's no excuse. However, I do appreciate and thank you for your constant need to make excuses for your husband. (EDITED ORIGINAL) I'm leaving this 1 star review after countless unanswered phone calls, and even text messages. I'd like to start by saying that I was referred to this practice by a friend who sees Dr. Shanthi and had nothing but great things to say about her. I made an appointment (which took over 3 days of trying to get someone to answer their phone) and was "assigned" to Dr. Chan. Initially, he seemed like I had finally found the perfect fit for a PCP. I began my weight loss journey with him and made my dedication to this very clear at my first appointment. I had to come back every month to reweigh and reassess, as I was taking medication to help. One day, I came to weigh in, and the nurse told me I hadn't lost any weight at all. When Dr. Chan came, he simply stated, "So you're not gonna be a good candidate for this medication anymore. Maybe we can try again in a few months when you're ready again." I honestly was shocked that no one ever thought to simply re-weigh me. This is especially shocking because at the first weigh-in, I lost 7lbs, then 10lbs, and then 11lbs. But no one ever questioned 0lbs... weird. When I got home and weighed myself I HAD, in fact, lost weight. I know my scale at home is different than theirs and blah blah blah, but to tell me I had lost 0lbs was incorrect. To completely give up on me and not even try to get to the bottom of what was wrong made me feel like my doctor had zero faith in me, and like he really just needed to move on to his next appointment. I told him I still wanted to continue on with this journey and would be back in a month to follow up (and essentially prove myself). Yet, when he walked me back to the front office, he told the lady at the checkout window, "No follow-up." So now he didn't even care to see me anymore for this as he had, in fact, obviously given up on me. I made a follow-up appointment anyway, as I wanted to prove I could continue on without the medication. However, everything mentioned above really resonated with me. I made an appointment with a different weight loss clinic. I have continued to lose weight and am now below 200lbs -for the first time in years. If I had given up on myself like Dr. Chan, I probably would be back to my original weight right now. read more

My GP was out of town for a month, and I was told this group of doctors covered his patients while he was out of town. I called to make an appointment, letting them know all my info on the phone, including insurance info, as well as the fact that I needed a med refill before leaving for a week long vacation, myself (that my dr would not be back before), for which I showed up to find they could not find my appointment, then the office manager rudely brushed me off, listing all the things they "cannot do" because they aren't my primary. I even asked if I could switch my primary for the time being, and they just made more excuses. Terrible practice, cheaply employing phone customer service agents to make and book appointments in the Philippines, and denying appointment confromations that one of their own (old, white, American) office ladies ultimately confirmed on the phone with me two days ago. If I could give less than one star, I would. They do not have their shit together at all and seem to be running a subpar, lazy office. Very unprofessional. Do not recommend. read more

Absolutely horrible and beyond unprofessional front desk staff! This review is specifically for the office manager named Deb. She is rude, aggressive, and probably mentally unfit to be working with patients. As a nurse myself, my opinion carries weight, and I can confidently say this is the worst service one can possibly imagine. I am usually very tolerant and patient regarding burnout and the stressors of the medical field, but this situation goes beyond acceptable. It's a shame because I have zero issues with the medical care provided by Dr. Rashmi Prakash. I cannot speak for any other provider, as I only see her. However, the front desk team is equally important when dealing with small matters like orders, refills, and appointments. I have had issues with them, specifically with Deb, as she is the office manager and is often involved EVERY single time I need something, whether big or small. Not once was it smooth and calm. And I have let it go several times because I was satisfied with the care I received from Dr. Rashmi. However, today Deb literally shouted at me for over 10 minutes without allowing me to say a word to explain what I actually needed. She just kept telling me that she has done this for 35 years and is working on it without even hearing my request. At this point, I decided enough is enough. My husband and I will both leave the practice due to her horrendous behavior. I wholeheartedly recommend that everyone stay far away from this practice, as the benefits do not outweigh the horrific front desk service. read more

I've been going to Sunshine medical clinic for over 15 years and am very pleased with the medical practice. Dr. Shanthi has been my physician and we have built a fantastic relationship. Whenever I have had issues her first response is not to prescribe medicine, but to use alternatives. However, she is not averse to prescription when necessary. Now, her daughter and son-in-law have joined the practice and I think the Sunshine Medical Center is going to be seeing its best years yet. read more

Dr Sordal Prakash came recommended to me many years ago by a physician whom I trust implicitly. He said if he had to go himself or send his mom, Dr. Sordal is the family doctor he would see. Dr prakash's wife, Dr Shanthi, shares the practice with him and now they have welcomed their daughter and son-in-law whom I just met this evening via televisit. This family of doctors is the best there is and merits the recommendations, confidence and accolades of their peers and patients. I have cerebral palsy, a history of two different types of cancer and several other comorbidities that make for a complex medical history. I am competently and compassionately cared for consistently. It's a small non-group practice that truly practices the art of medicine while keeping up with and personalizing its cutting edge science and interventions. Some other reviews have commented on problems with the office staff. My experience with the doctors' support personnel has generally been positive. An occasional long hold or wait is a fair trade for recieving exceptional person-centered integrated healthcare. read more

I wish i reviews were read for this place before they tried to buy an IPL treatment for me for Christmas. I left a message after message for this place on the phone number that they gave no response. I looked up the main number on Google called that no response. I left a message after message after message until I had to go to Groupon and get them to refund me a credit. Now that I see the reviews it's a blessing in disguise that this place is so disorganized from the beginning I didn't even have to deal with them personally. Dr. Soordal Prakash and his wife Dr. Shanthi Prakash are the doctors at Sunshine Medical. Dr. Prakash is my doctor and he is very knowledgeable and friendly. The whole staff from receptionist to doctor are very kind and fun to work with and when you make an appointment you aren't waiting forever past your schedule time in the waiting room. If you are a new patient you might have to wait several weeks to get in but sometimes there is a cancellation. I will keep going back to Sunshine Medical. Dr. Soordal Prakash also has a background in plastic and hand surgery and used to teach surgery to medical school students. read more

I did post this same review on another review spot as well. I believe everyone should know before they go. I am self pay and I paid prior to seeing the doctor for my daughter. We saw the doctor, he recommended a few vitamins for my daughter and we went on our way. I received a bill in the mail stating that I owe $12.00. I called and waited on hold for 13 min 38 sec only for someone to pick up and say another person's name and when they realized I wasn't that person they hung up. I proceeded to call back and when I got through I spoke to DEB (the office manager) who asked for my daughter's birth date and looked up her account. I told her that we paid before the visit and she said "it was a weird amount" but that it was for a physical. I said the doctor did not do a physical. We did not need a physical. She said when we paid before she didn't know what the doctor would do in the back, I said fair enough but I came to the front after and why didn't I pay then? I asked to speak yo the doctor or office manager, she laughed and said I am the manager. I said I would like it looked into and that any other office you go to if your self pay you pay before you leave that office. She said I will let the doctor know and hung up the phone. I had a question about a new medication that I take once a month. I waited 2 days because they said I have to ask the doctor. For a 5 minute call, where he said you can take it now or wait until next month, they charged me $145.00! I called about the bill and Brittney told me "that's the way it is, it was an office visit over the phone" and literally hung up on me when I asked for her name. All 3 of us in my household see both Dr. Shanti and Soordhal Prakash. Both are very good diagnosticians and listeners. I have a complex medical history and get the crux of my care through the Tampa VA Spinal Cord Injury center. I also deal with thyroid issues and complexities related to toxic exposure. The doctors are very good and have a great bedside manner. The wait is always a bit but I chock that up to good, old fashioned doctoring. If you are looking for a doctor that is going to rush you through and not listen, the Prakash's probably are not your doctor ... but if you want good care from a team that listens and can be as conservative as you need them to be ... these are wonderful doctors. read more

I went there on a GROUP-ON ad. I paid for Two IPL treatments and at first when I met Maggie she was nice and took all my information and offered me some other treatments to tighten my skin, which I was happy to do, the cost was a bit more but I thought ok. As the weeks went on each time I went the price kept going up from $200 one week the next $300 and she told me the next would be $400 and up. I told her I can't afford that. Her reply to me was to get a loan, or a credit card, why the treatment was the same. Maggie told me I can make you so much better you will love me after I get done with you. So I stopped going, a few weeks went by and Maggie text me for my next appointment I told her I did not make a appointment but I asked her for a break down of what I was paying for. After that she never reply nor sent me what treatment I was getting and the cost for it. Out of wanting to look better and younger I WOULD SAY THIS COMPANY AND MAGGIE take full advantage of anyone that comes there. So I want to warn other people to make sure if you go there make sure you understand the treatment and get any other treatments on paper, not just a receipt. He spent most of the appointment time lecturing on the following topics: we doctors are not trained outside the box, if you dare talk to a naturopath or any natural doctor I will not be your doctor because they are crap. Serious waste of time!!!! He was also very late, even though I was the first appointment of the day and when I tried to get at least blood work out of him, he got the scripts wrong and the receptionists were unwilling to ask him to correct the mistakes, leaving me with a script of blood work that made zero sense!!!
