I have two nieces that go their, they are non stop talking about what they have learned and the activities they participate in. Not to mention the patience the teachers have since one of my nieces is autistic, they work with her well and know how to guide her. She always boast about being the helper. Do not go to the location in Helotes. The Director walks around distracting teachers and ignores children crying. I only went there because I knew the owner from 10 years ago and she was great with my daughter. Half the staff great and half terrible. The director and her side kick refused to let me speak to the Director. The owner told me if I had any issues after the director took 3 weeks for a tour let her know. Well more issue. This is one of the worst managed centers I have ever seen. I have never faced this issue with my other kids who went to other places. They are so stretched, everyday when you go to school, you are on their mercy as to how many teachers show up. If they don't have sufficient teachers, they will turn back your kid saying they cannot accommodate him/her for today. No only this, they give very absurd suggestions that manage with some drop in centers for that day. Our child is not a thing, they are human and we can't drop them at a random place whenever Sunshine Montessori doesn't have sufficient staff. Kids do get nervous when they see strangers. This has happened multiple times with our child in this center. If both parents are working, where will you go and drop your kid? read more

Would NOT recommend this place to someone who cares about the well-being of their child(ren). My son only went here for a few days and was told they could not accommodate him. There was minimal communication with us until they suspended him and informed us, he would not be allowed back. read more

Where do I begin? I could not ask for a better school. It was a constant struggle (and tears) every morning at our former place but within two days at Sunshine, I saw a big difference in my son. He runs to the door in the morning and waves goodbye to me without hesitation! And he's just as happy when I see him again in the afternoon. I know he's being cared for, staying busy and learning things all day! We love seeing his daily log and the fun activities he did. The directors and teachers are a parent's dream. My son had a speech therapist that would visit (pre-covid) and she once told me this center was one of the best she had seen. She would constantly rave about his teacher at the time, Ms. Jessica, and how she went above and beyond in helping my son with his speech delay so happily and eagerly. I'm a teacher as well and can tell you every worker puts their heart and soul into their job. It's always hard to be away from your kids so long, but being at Sunshine Montessori gives me peace of mind that he's in good hands. read more

If you're like us after many prayers to find a center where the staff truly took care of the children....well this is the place.. we have no worries at all and honestly we're treated more like family from the directors down to each teacher. The staff are all professional, kind and love/enjoy what they do. Our princess have been here for over 2yrs now and she loves it. She is 3, counts in Spanish and completely potty trained. What I really appreciated was the teacher wanting to be on the same page as home for consistency for our princess. Don't take my word for it let your child tell/show you. My review is 2 parts; the 1st part is a fact and the second part is my own opinion. Read this before placing your kid in this day care or any other day care. I came across this article about violations in day cares in San Antonio and guess who I found on the list. http://www.mysanantonio.com/news/local/article/Day-care-center-inspections-reveal-alarming-6201205.php They had 5 high risk violation; a teacher did not know how many kids in her class, letting an unknown lady follow kids to classroom, a big whole in the fence in the playground, operation noncompliance with standards (by not informing parents of incidents immediately), I will start by saying that I am not a picky person.The only time i had to change a day care is when i moved. Of course, i always have concerns but no place is perfect. My kids spent only a month in this place.It is a bad place for many many reasons in my opinion. First, I thought i wanted a place that is a little bit strict for my kids to prepare them for school later on. They are only strict in a sense that they want kids to be sitting on a chair and not moving the whole time. They don't want kids acting like KIDS. So every time i drop them off, I hear the teacher screaming at kids to sit down. I have not seen them sending projects home like other day cares do. I don't know what they do all day long besides sitting. The kids see at least 4 teachers a day (they are not even the same teachers every day). It took my kids a long loooong time to warm up to this place especially my 1.5 years old who is a kind of a kid that would run to strangers in the park for a hug (He saw 7 teachers in a month). On top of that,the teachers in the early morning and late after noon are only watching kids. They don't even care to take kids to potty. My other 3.5 year-old always have accidents in the car on our way home because no one is taking care of him after 3.30. The late afternoon teachers are basically mute. I have not heard them speak or react when a parent comes to pick up kids. I am not even sure if they speak English. They also have a big screen TV that was always on when I am picking up. So my guess is that they turn TV at 3.30 until the place closes. They claim that they have certified teachers and they give home work to kids. Do not fall into that. They truly do not care about kids, their development, or performance. read more

Honestly disappointed 100%. I have inform the daycare about how my daughter is and how the old daycare would just put her in a high chair. Four staff members I have talk to have told me they don't have high chair there only chairs that are in the table... well they lied they put her in one just because they couldn't handle her / accommodate to her.. when they should have call me that she was having a bad day at less but no . I also had inform the daycare that she does bite when she upset because she don't speak yet she had just started st and ot . I told them I redirect at home and if they tell her "oh are we biting, we don't bite " she would stop . Everyday that I pick her up I ask how was she doing did she bite today and I would be told she doing good and that she hasn't bite well that was a lie bc they don't want her there no more at the daycare that Friday would be her last day she only been there for maybe a month. Also on top of all of that she been so hungry coming home it's like she doesn't even eat there . At her old daycare before this one she would want a snack to hold her over until dinner well it's like she eat two whole dinner since she started this daycare . I'm just questioning my self like why take on a child after I explain how she is and what she does know that you agree to take her on and yet you can't. Like your daycare is a part of raising start program and the teacher get grant to go to school to help kids more with and learning and ect but I don't see and hear them using all the tools they should have been taught . When i pull my daughter out they didn't know where her extra snack were , or her cups . They just don't act don't communicate like they should be . It's just funny that they can't have her there no more but yet there kids in her class that keep on pushing a lot to where the other kid would fall abs cry but yet that kid still there I honestly wouldn't recommend at all. read more

We love this school! The teachers are all so welcoming and my daughter can't get enough of this place. Going on 4 yrs now and the things this school has instilled and taught her will definitely go a long way. Curriculum is very structured yet still very fun for kids to absord and learn. My little one is now 5 years old and has attended SMA for 2 1/2 years. I am a single mom and the staff there has been more than amazing. They have worked with me and have helped me out when ever they could. I feel as if everyone is a part of our extended family. Maddi loves her teachers and loves all of the fun activities and even the homework. We absolutely love SMA and recommend it any chance we get. Thanks guys, and keep up the great work. read more

I have a bad experience too, had my baby there for couple of months were the worst months ever, she had all kind of bits and scars, the worst of all, the supervisor there convinced my that my daughter is bad and aggressive to the other kids beating and thats how she got bits and scratches, finally when i went to pick my daughter after work i saw her with big scratches in her face and as usual the supervisor said " thats how kids are" when i got into an other daycare my daughter stopped crying when i leave and when i come to pick her up. And the new daycare always praise how sweet she is to everyone. This daycare got me misunderstand my own beloved daughter. Stay away from this daycare parents please!!!! read more

I have had my 4 year old at this location for over a year now and I have seen him go to through different teachers. Every one of them has made a positive impact in his life because he shares everything he learns with me every day. He never cries when I drop him off as he did for other day cares, and every time I pick him up he is very happy. And as at any other day care, where there is many children, he has had an accident here before, but nothing mayor. He was well taken care of and I was notified immediately even though the incident was minor. Still a happy boy when I picked him up. In my opinion, when children get hurt outside of home, it takes them out of a certain comfort zone which only endures them a little more for the harder bumps of life, so it was not really a big deal to me. All the staff has always been incredibly nice, from the owner to teachers I don't know. I don't plan to take my son out of this daycare any time soon. read more

Avoid this place at all costs. The director is irrational and gets defensive when you address situations that pertain to her family. (Directors daughter is the assistant director, and her grandchildren both attend this school as well) the directors granddaughters behavior is simply out of control. She bit 7 students in a month, according to the biting policy she should have been expelled for one day, but she did not expel her. When I addressed the situation with the owner Gina, she was unaware of what the biting policy even was. Instead of moving the child with behavioral issues out of the classroom, the staff moved my child along with the 4 other children that were bit to another classroom. Management then changed the biting policy to accommodate the granddaughters needs. When I addressed the change in biting policy with Gina she informed me that they "didn't change the policy. We originally had a very generally biting policy in place. So we took out the old policy completely and inserted a new one." The owner herself (gina) and the director Alice both stated they could not expel the granddaughter as she was having issues at home and having a hard time adjusting due to her parents going through divorce and the grand father having a heart attack. The grandson has gone to school on multiple occasion with lice and instead of removing him they very recently allowed him to Stay in the classroom and informed staff not to let anyone know. Management did not post there was a lice outbreak as they should! The granddaughter has bitten staff members as well, but staff will not come forward due to fear of being fired out of retaliation. Management Falsify's food meal program forms, coaches staff on what to say when licensing comes, destroys incident reports, changes incident reports to fit their needs AFTER the parent signs. The owner "refused services" to us after licensing showed up "and she put two and two together." We are the second family to be kicked out of this facility WITHIN A WEEK TIME FRAME for "calling licensing" on this facility. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COST. FYI, there is a law that states a facility cannot refuse services out of retaliation for licensing being called, but this place will find a way around it. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COST!! Gina is not around enough to see that her precious director (Alice) and the directors daughter(Diana) are going to run this place to the ground. I PROMISE YOU'LL BE DOING YOURSELF/Your children (more importantly) a favor! THIS IS NOT AN ACCREDITED MONTESSORI FACILITY! Extremely high employee turn over rate due to unfair management! Alice/Diana are extremely unprofessional when addressing staff, it's no secret why they cannot keep staff on board. read more
