Found this place on yelp and based on the good reviews decided to give it a go after my last unimpressive experience at a different Salon at crowfoot. 1st visit here for a shellac mani and was very happy. I walked in at 230pm on a Sat for a walk in with no appt and was able to get in within 20 min. Staff were all nice, eqpt was Clean and good selection of polish. Stacey was my nail tek and was very friendly and nice. She did an amazing job and took great care in giving me the best mani I've had in a really long time. I now come here exclusively for my mani/pedi needs, partially due to the fact that it's so close to my house, and also because I just ADORE Tina. She's amazing. Not only does she actually listen to what I want, she remembers me every time so I don't have to hover over my nails watching to make sure she does it right. I've literally NEVER had lifting with my nails. She is so sweet, friendly, and FAST. Don't be scared though, she knows what she's doing. I can be in and out with beautifully filled nails in 45 min! She's also amazing at freehand designs, ask to see her samples, you'll be blown away! The majority of the staff here are great at what they do and friendly to boot. My sister sees Jacqueline and loves her. They have a large variety of polish & Shellac colours (more than any other nail salon I've been to) and a few TVs to keep you entertained while getting your nails done. I love getting pedicures here, especially with girlfriends, as they have a number of pedicure chairs to accommodate groups. The chairs are comfortable with massage features and the staff have NO issue with me requesting more hot/cold water for my little piggies to soak in. They are extremely thorough with pedicures, unlike some places that rush through them. The prices are on par with other nail salons in the city. However, the quality far surpasses them. It's so nice to know that they actually care about whether or not I like my nails, and I never leave unhappy. Because of this, they do tend to book up regularly, so I definitely recommend an appointment. Also, if you pay with cash, you always get 10% off. Unfortunately, the parking situation remains the same. It just plain SUCKS! Especially with the Tim Horton's right there, the line for the drive thru is always massive, so pulling in/backing out is a pain in the ass. I've been to Sunshine nails many times for my manicure and pedicures ...I'm not sure why I haven't reviewed them....so here I go! Sunshine nails is located in Crowfoot way in the NW. It's located next door to a Tim hortons. They do have parking but I found that it gets SO clustered when the Tim Horton's drive through is busy, it can be irritating. Anyway, there are 6 stations for manicures, 2 spots at each station so if you went with a gf (or bf) you can request to get a manicure at the same time. There are 7 massage chairs for pedicures. I usually book an appointment every 2-3 weeks with Jacqueline; she knows me by name, is super cute and listens to what I want! Of course she does a phenomenal job : ). Jacqueline takes her time, ensuring everything is perfect and I'm happy. I always get shellac for my nails. Shellac is a cross between regular nail polish and gel. It is applied like normal nail polish and then cured using UV light. I find that it lasts much longer than regular nail polish and the dry time is instant so you don't have to wait at the end for your nails to dry. They have a nice variety of colors for nail polish and shellac, or you could always go for a French manicure. Sunshine nails is a nice clean place. When an appointment is done, they clean their stuff right away and take the next appointment. The massage chairs are nice and they have some magazines to keep you occupied. There are also 2 televisions, which is great because I don't mind watching some Ellen DeGeneres or other day time television! They offer waxing services as well. I never used to go to these types of nail places as I was sceptical. But after my last trip to Urban Venus with a rude lady and cut open toe. I decided after Stephanie S. recommended it, to give it a shot. And I'm glad I did! I had booked an appt, even though most people don't think you have to, I just find it more polite. It was a relatively quiet Sunday and I had an awesome lady. Spoke very little English, but that was OK, I had things to read and work on. She took about 1.5 hours which I find a little excessive for a pedicure, but she did really cute flowers on my big toes, so it was OK, and as mentioned it was Sunday afternoon, so I wasn't in a rush. I felt bad for the ladies, as it was after 4 (they close at 5) and 4 people came in looking for appointments. Someone should not have to work late, because you didn't plan. I make an appt and go to this salon every 3 weeks for a mani/pedi. I always get shellac, let them know the color and how I want my nails done (square,rounded etc) They are always wonderful here and take pride in their work. They are quick, nice and all their services are reasonable in cost. Every time I have been there they never try to talk me into doing something else or selling me something else which I really like.I just want to go get my nails done and relax. I have been to other salons where they convince you to do something else (different color, gel nails etc etc) and I find at Sunshine when I make the appointment and when I arrive you only need to ask them once what it is you require - no upselling. If I get someone who has done my nails before, its great that they know what I already want. The only negative I find at the salon besides the lack of parking is I wish they spoke English. Its fine when the salon is busy and they are talking to each other, but when you are the only one in there and they are speaking Vietnamese, it does make me feel uncomfortable. There has been a few times I have been the only one in there, since I like to make my appts for when they open up in the morning and I wish they waited till I left. Been twice to Sunshine. The first time my nailfill was chipping within hours. I gave them a second chance and went back two months later for a nailfill again it was chipping within hours, edges were rough and by two days the polish was peeling off in chunks. Went back to my old reliable Angel Nails in the SW and had it done properly. Usually my nailfill lasts 3-4 weeks but having it done twice in one week is costly. They do give a great pedicure. read more

Took my sister and mother in law here for bridal nails and am so embarrassed by my choice of salon! The shellac on my mother-in-law didn't last 1 day. We were told if you rip off the nails it's damaging and to come in to have the shellac removed. We booked an appointment to have our chipped nails removed and what did they do - peel it off. Then charged us. My nails look damaged and diseased now. For $280 I would highly reconsider read more

I've been getting my pedicures at Sunshine Nails for about a year now. Usually I pop by a day or two in advance in order to book an appointment, but they can sometimes do walk-ins as well. Lately there has been a younger guy working at the front desk; he is really customer-service oriented and makes booking, arriving and paying quite a smooth process. I've always been happy with my regular pedicures, but recently I started upgrading to shellac polish and have been SO impressed. I had a shellac pedicure done at the end of June, then spent the summer trekking through Central Asia. After SIX weeks of putting my feet through "heck", my pedicure still looked perfect (just a little regrowth). Although there is a slight additional cost to the shellac, Sunshine Nails does it so well, and makes it last so long, that I'm actually spending LESS on my nails now than I did before. I have no plans to change my pedicure provider in the foreseeable future! (They also offer a 10% discount on cash purchases; pop into the bank next door before your visit.) read more

I always go to this nail salon on my way home from work.It is right beside the Crowfoot LRT station next to Tim Hortons. Nothing appealing to look at on the inside but is sanitary. Quick and efficient service. Only $20 for a shellac polish change on toes or fingers. Great colour selection.They always do a great job, never miss any spots on my nails or hit my cuticles with the shellac. They have massaging chairs to sit in while they are giving you a pedicure or polish change. I showed up 2 hours early for my appt and they were able to fit me in. I have never had gel nails/nail enhacement or acrylic or anything done, just shellac, but I am very happy with the service. I was a client here for about three years and used to go only because of Tina. She cared about her clients and always did a great job. If there was an issue she would go out of her way to make sure it was fixed and would try and fit you in if you had something come up unexpectedly. She remembered exactly what you wanted so you didn't have to ask each time. I have tried other technicians when Tina was away and none were as good. She has left Sunshine Nails but I have found her at TJ Nails across the street still in Crowfoot. I am happy to say that I will be seeing her later this week. Never know what you'll get when you go to this salon - sometimes friendly, sometimes surly. I've had numerous infections, some bad enough to need a doctor visit, from pedicures. They assure you they sanitize the tools - but when I was getting a manicure once the girl picked up the trimmer she had just used on me, and proceeded to clean under her own nails with it! Went here for the first time to get a fill and was extremely happy with the service. I walked in without and appointment (on a Tuesday) and they had taken me in right away to a lady named sandy. She was very gentle and really took the time to make sure everything was perfect and I left 100 percent happy with my nails. One week later they still look perfect and she went in so close that it doesn't even look like they have grown. Price is good, especially with 10 percent off when you pay in cash! I went to this nail salon after reading the reviews on Yelp. I wish now that my friend and I had not gone there. My friend was wounded repeatedly by her attendant who when she said "ow, ow!", the lady looked at her and rudely said back, "Ow? REALLY!?" and kept working. The job was rushed and in my case poorly done. The polish itself was old, or off or something and caused the finish to look terrible. The person kept putting more and more layers on trying to smooth it out. I kept asking her to stop and redo it and her and the other attendants kept insisting its because its shellac, it will look good after it's done (I have had shellac and this is not the case). They were talking to each other in another language about the problem obviously agreeing there was one,while telling me in English, oh its fine. Finally I insisted that it be redone and they took it off, and the said oh yeah its the quality of the polish. If they new this from the start, why try to keep going and push me out the door? The lady doing manicures across the room stopped with her customer and just glared at me for a full minute over her face mask. It was so obvious and rude I did not know what to do. Another girl took over, finished the polish, which ended up all over my toes and sent me on our way. At $55 EACH for these pedicures, I would much rather go to a real spa. Also the salon was not very clean. Old paint was on everything, and the customer bathroom was dirty and used as a storeroom, with no paper towel. I have to be honest I looked at the website to find a service with high ratings hence, going to Sunshine Nails. The salon itself is clean and there is parking if you go during the less busy times. I also found out that it is easy to miss the parking at the side of their building. I got a pedicure and must admit that the pedicure process was great for the most part. It is long and you get a great massage of the feet and legs with this amazing exfoliator mix. The two issues I had was the fact that if you wanted to do a mani pedi some of the employees would have people soak their feet in these inexpensive tubs of water if they were working on the mani first. In addition I decided to try the shellac for the feet and was happy with the outcome but disappointed with the process. For some reason they used a UV lamp made for hands instead of feet so my feet really hurt when I was holding the lamp against the side edge with my feet. It also seemed like they only had the one lamp, or perhaps it was the only one in working order(?) Either way, I think for the cost there should be the correct lamp used for the respective body part and/or purchase more lamps for the store. read more
