This is my "go-to" nail salon in the area and I also recommend them to any one who is looking. Their regular pedicures are a great price. For $25 they do massage, hot stone And use paraffin wax on your heels. I'm usually the type to go in and out, I don't make conversation much, and I've never had a problem. Everyone is nice enough. Yes they may not all speak perfect English but I didn't expect that. I've now started to do acrylic on my nails with design and I haven't been disappointed yet. This place is nice and some of the staff are really kind. The owner Charlie does a good job on the nails but some of the staff just do not have the same skills. I paid 63 dollars for a basic pedi, a fill, terrible reshape (coffin nails) and a poor paint job. My daughter also got her nails painted (which literally peeled off about an hour later) I tried to give them several opportunities because there are maybe 2 individuals who do a really good job. However, between the costs and the ridiculous wait times I do not think I will be back. The attached photo is the outcome of what was supposed to be coffin nails and I was supposed to have a sunflower on the ring finger (which they were unable to do so she just painted over the design attempt). The nail polish is also uneven and there is lint stuck in between the polish. read more

This is my first time coming to Sunshine Nails. I took my mom for a spa day since we both are always working and wanted to treat ourselves. This was the definite right place to go. It is around 25 minutes away from where I live and I can already tell that this will now be my go-to nail salon. The staff were not only friendly but made sure that me and my mom had everything we needed. The spa pedicure took around an hour and every second was enjoyable. The place is VERY clean and organized. They made sure to ALWAYS get sterile equipment which some salons don't do and which was very appreciated. The pricing for what we received was more than acceptable. I have been a customer here for some time. Ivy does my nails and I am happy with them for the most part. Last time I went, ( 2 weeks ago) I got a basic pedi, by a girl I do not know, she didnt understand any English, so I couldn't communicate to her what I wanted. She did the callus remover and when she was scrapping my heels she went right down to tender skin and scraped some of that off along with the callus. while trimming my cuticles on my toes, she actually cut my skin. She started to polish with clear and not the gel color I chose. Now it is time for my fill, I had a simple design that consisted of 2 lines, and gel color. When I was finished, they told me it was $95.00, I paid the bill, left the tips for both girls, went to my car. I thought it sounded expensive, so I went back and asked Ivy if the price was correct, as she started to explain everything, I realized that it all adds up and I said "OH OK" and I turned and walked out ( Ivy was still talking as I walked out). Well it is time for my fill, I called to make an appt with ivy and the girl on the phone told me "NO, NO MORE, YOU TO ANGRY" I said excuse me ( I wasn't sure what I was hearing) and she told me, "NO NO MORE FOR YOU, YOU TO ANGRY!" I don't know how I was so angry. all I did was ask for clarification on the pricing, I didn't even complain about the girl who butchered my feet during my pedi, Oh well, there are plenty of other salons in Rockland that will be glad to take my money. The salon is very clean...I walked in with my daughter and was seated for pedicures and gel manicures within 5 minutes...finished with our pedicures, which were awesome, and then were seated for our manicures. My daughter's gel came out fine but the woman that was doing my manicure recommended a powder manicure over the gel. I insisted initially but eventually was talked into the powder which was $10 more than the gel. She dipped my nail 3 separate times in the powder-and it looked extremely clunky but I figured she was giving herself some room to work with. She went over my nails with that smoothing machine ONCE and then moved on to the next hand....then reached for the top coat! I asked her if she could file my nail down a bit more on the bed because it was way too thick and she was visibly annoyed but obliged. Long story shorter...she had to file them down 3 times in total and try to give em a lil shape so that I wasn't entirely embarrassed to walk out of the salon. She talked about me bad in her language to her colleague and in turn the colleague told me that if I wanted thin nails I had to ask for that! Huh?! I told her I wanted a nice natural looking nail. Since when do you have to request that the powder not sit 4 inches above the nail bed??? The owner NEVER came over to address the commotion which everyone in the salon could hear. There was a woman sitting next to me, getting gel, and her nails were very nice! Maybe getting someone who can actually shape, dip and paint nails in this place is the luck of the draw. Terrible customer service at this nail salon. The prices are not consistent at all. They have prices for some services on the wall and the pedicure spa treatment book. At my last appointment, I learned that they charge extra for long nails ($5) for dip powder but not gel polish and think that it's ok to charge after services are finished. They do not have signs posted about this additional fee. Ivy was very rude to a lady that asked why they were being charged extra for long nails. She didn't explain to the lady she just said that they have always charged extra. I've been a customer since they opened and I have long nails and do the dip powder manicure, same as that lady. I've never been charged extra. It's like different workers charge differently which is bad business. It made me think about what else are they overcharging for especially cause most people don't ask for a price breakdown. I'm thinking I will be looking for another nail salon. The massaging of my hands during + my back after my manicure were also wonderful although brief. Sunshine is a clean and beautiful place. I loved that I had a connection with my nail tech Adrianna. She has a heart of gold. Very pleasant person and she loves her job. I recently encountered a situation on Aug 21,2020. I called to schedule my appt and I agreed to come in at 5:00 pm that same day for a gel mani and pedi. To make a long story short. I made it to my appt on time and Adrianna worked on my feet while my fingers was wrapped to get the gel removed by her. While sitting on the pedi chair. Charlie the male that works there said to Adrianna that your appt is here. She mumbled and was not happy that she had to rush or did not know how she was going to deal with me and the other customer who is patiently waiting. Adrianna kindly excused herself and told me she could not finish because she had an appt and I did too. She wanted me to come back so she can provide the lady full service. Which I meant nothing to them. Her advice to me was not valid. I was referred another tech name Amy to do my gel mani. I was furious because I made my appt the valid way !!!!!!! Amy, on the other hand agreed to do my mani. But she rushed my nailed to get someone's else's nails done. She failed to soak my nail and push my cuticles back. I asked her why she did not soak them. She said my nails was too week. ( which was an excuse) She basically brushed me off and sent an in happy customer away. I paid 58 dollars unhappily and for the way I was treated. I will never refer anyone there and that was my last visit. Everyone should be treat the same no matter what the color their skin. I sense there was a role of racism and unfairness. If I was white. I called at lunch to make an appointment for a regular manicure. They didn't take my name or number which should have been my first clue. I got there at 5:50pm, told the woman I had an appointment and for what. She told me to sit down along with 3 other people who were waiting. A few minutes later another woman came in saying she had an appointment at 6 for a mani/pedi. She was also told to sit down at 6:15 she asked how long it was going to be and was told another 10-15 minutes. After another few minutes they moved us to stations with no technicians. After another 20 minutes and no further communication I got up and left. No one asked what was wrong or even checked to see if I ever got help. The place is clean. The work wonderful. This would be my go to place EXCEPT for the fact that I was overcharged by $15 for my nails. I usually pay $30 for a gel pedicure, and $40 for gel fill in with gel polish. This time, the male owner told his mother to charge $15 more for design when previously I was not charged for the same exact work. I went here about 4 times in a row for a dip powder manicure and regular pedicure. They do an ok job on both things and I like dip powder so I kept going back. Every time I went I had an appointment and I would have to wait at least an hour for them to at least just sit me in the chair. The fourth time was the last straw. We did come on a Sunday but we had made appointments so we figured it would be fine. It was packed so it took almost an hour before they started my sisters nails and mine. That was the only downside.
