There were ample amount of classes to take advantage of, with many different sempai's and sensei's sometimes from out of state and out of the country! What was great about the exposure to the guest instructors was that you were then exposed to different teaching styles and philosophies even though the principles of Aikido are all the same which involve philosophy, spiritual and of course martial aspects which train in effective ways of defending oneself. The school is great for adults, kids and as a result families. The parking is plentiful, except on testing days and seminar days. Overall I enjoyed my time here. The senior students for the most part are very supportive but just like any school many of the other students are a mixed bag. Still, if you're going to train in Aikido, in NJ, I recommend here. Basically, I'm a joy to be around and clearly destined for the Olympics someday. Or whatever the complete and total opposite of that is. That said, I still am able to enjoy, push, and be proud of myself here. The instructors' patience will probably get them canonized someday, and the students are all really supportive and friendly, so it makes it a lot less nerve-wracking for beginners. The school is also really involved with the community and everyone seems invested in making the world at least a slightly better place. The instructors will work with you and whatever limitations you may have. Trust me. I have plenty. And thanks to BBJJ, I now also have sick abs and can throw my much larger boyfriend around a bit better when he acts out.

I checked out Ju Jitsu, Karate, Tae Kwon Do schools not knowing what to expect and found myself talking to a lot of "martial arts factory salesmen" running the schools. When I met MASTER MA for the first time he immediately struck me as a REAL instructor and the friendliest person you'll ever meet. I did a trial lesson and, although I was very intimidated, they explained things in a way that made sense and made me more confident and comfortable as it went. I joined and built myself up over the years. I'm very happy I picked this school. The lineage and the instruction you receive is undoubtedly authentic as you can trace the instructors training through Grandmaster Kang the owner of the schools (who's father trained in the FIRST Tae Kwon Do school in Korea). Some students go to class almost every day and some students go once a week or so but the instructors keep everyone on pace for their goals and there are many black belts that help out as well. I'm in the adult classes but seeing the kids classes everyday, I'm amazed how far the kids come no matter what their skill level and maturity is when they start, the instructors do a great job of keeping everyone in line, in shape, and having fun, all while imparting knowledge. Tae Kwon Do is such a great work out, the system has a generous learning curve, and you find yourself in great shape overall (cardio endurance and strength) with increased physical ability, this school is the best choice and the classes ranging from traditional, sparring, cardio, stretching, etc.. are always fun and different.

They don't just hire instructors off the street,. Each instructor was a student and have been with TKT for at least 15 years.They only hire from within and are very particular about how they conduct their business. They take particular interest in each of their students which is a high feat in itself. If you are dedicated to the art of taekwondo and show you take it seriously the instructors make it a point to work on every aspect to ensure you will improve in your strengths and perfect what you excel at. If you are lacking in any particular aspect perhaps it s because you need to work harder at it or put more practice in. By the way what other martial arts school encourages you to attend every day? Also, as an avid long-distance runner, I also (ironically) needed to develop and strengthen my bottom half, so what better way than capoeira? Thank the universe that I found Mestre Foca and Instructora Rouxinal. They provide an open, welcoming space to learn and become part of the capoeira community. Each class includes aspects of capoeira, so not just training but also music, singing, and words of wisdom about capoeira, training and Brazilian culture. Both are incredibly warm, understanding and encouraging. There are a wide range of students, and they are able to facilitate the classes so that everyone learns and advances at his/ her own pace. Since joining the group, I've not only developed stronger legs and rear, I'm also learning how to strengthen my upper body. I've also started to learn how to play the berimbau, sing capoeira songs, and keep a positive space for the roda (the circle where capoeiristas play). I'm continuing to learn about capoeira and all its complexities, history and ways that it can positively shape my life.
