I put out the maid service request sign and told the front desk about it, showed it to them and confirmed that they would have it cleaned before I got back at 2:00 pm. I asked them to clean it that morning when I was gone and it had not been cleaned when I got back at 3 PM. They said the reason was that the sign was on the ground and that made them think that I did not want to be disturbed despite the fact that the curtains were open and you could see no one was there. To make matters worse, that night I was in bed and a cockroach crawled across the bed. A picture of the dead cockroach is included after I killed it. On top of that, they argued with me about why they didn't clean the room. Then they came up with every excuse as to why they could not reimburse me for the room. After they blew me off a week, I called back asking about the refund and they hung up on me. Do not stay there!!!

I asked and was told that Weaver Hotel was the best so I headed back to where I parked and went in the door which led to a gift area. I purposely left my boots unzipped. As I stood there and waited for someone to notice me I looked around. The dining room was empty except one table with two gentleman talking quietly. When an employee finally noticed me I was asked if I was here for takeout and then as I answered the person that asked walked away into a noisy kitchen shouting "hold on I can't hear you". When I told her I wanted to eat, she passed me off to another employee who then assumed I was there for the takeout and commenced ringing me up for it. I then told her again that k wanted to sit and eat and asked if that was possible. She said yes and pointed to another employee whom she said was the cook. She told the cook that I wanted to eat, to which the cook replied "ok", didn't look up at me, and walked right past me. As she walked away, she shouted over her shoulder "what do you want?" I said I'd take the lunch special and she walked away. I stood there and said "do I just sit anywhere?" Yes, was the response. I was then brought my food, never checked on again, never asked where I was from or how I was, nothing. I guess small town hospitality or just manners and kindness in general isn't a thing here. Not saying everyone isn't probably a good person at heart and means well. Just optically, it looks really bad- like you judged me and didn't want me there. I truly felt uncomfortable the whole time and I don't recommend unless you fit the type of person they're used to, evidentially. And I'm 6'4 and white! Maybe just take a look at how you treat strangers that are nothing but polite and kind. Food was really good and fast though to be fair. Oh, and then as I waited to pay, my waitress walks by and says "oh and you can't tip after paying with a card". Lmao. So I tipped $10 and said have a great day to which one of them replied "yep". The food was plentiful, included in the cost. The property takes great pride in its service to its guests. We felt like one of the family by the time we left. At that time, the hotel had many wedding guests. We had a spacious room with the best view of the Kansas prairie. You just opened the curtains and there it was - as far as the eye can see, free of the burdens of big city life. A police officer had just pulled someone over in the parking lot for some alleged traffic infraction, just as we were pulling in. A suggestion is to go the speed limit and don't hurry to your destination.

We went ahead and went to our destination in Mankato and was hoping we could find a hotel we stopped at the Crestview and it looked like it had been closed up or abandoned. I went to the door and it was locked. There was one car in the parking lot and had junk piled out in front. After looking at it there's no way in the world. I would wanna stay there. One entrance door, but then it veers off to 2 more separate entrance doors to each establishment. I never went to it due to several circumstances, but they have a "grab and go" type breakfast. It was explained to me that it's not a continental breakfast, but just fruit, yogurt, coffee, and juice. Got there relatively late due to various reasons and it had been a very day! After unloading everything, I noticed the nightstand between the 2 beds was dirty/sticky. I wasn't the least bit impressed, but thought things happen. Next I went to put stuff in the refrigerator only to find a small pint of ice cream in the freezer part. I probably should have just called the manager at that point because from my experience it only goes from bad to worse usually. I took a shower and then went to get in bed, but the sheets were DIRTY! The bottom sheets had multiple stains on them and I also found dried food on the pillowcases. I called the manager on duty, which was around midnight by that time. She said I'll switch your rooms. I had to go back down to the main entrance to get the new set of keys, which it would have been nice for them to be delivered considering I had to gather up everything. Before I could even leave the room (within 5 minutes from calling) the front desk called to ask me if I was coming up there? Well dang I just got out of the shower, so I needed time to put some clothes on and drive down to the office!!! So, we had to move all of our stuff to a different room in the middle of the night after a LONG day! Last thing I wanted to do! We get to the next room and find some type of bug on the bathroom floor, it got smashed. The bed was as hard as a rock with a dip in the middle, enough said! Pillows were flat as pancakes! It's like this motel is the gift that keeps on giving and not in a good way! After all that happened I decided upon checkout I would talk to the person in charge, which happened to be the same person that gave me the key in the middle of the night. She apologized and said it's just difficult to find help because nobody wants to work. I don't see how this should be my problem? I paid (almost $100.00) for a room/service in good faith, but yet due to several circumstances that failed expectations. I was also questioned why I was just getting any that late?
