It was decorated with Tim's heirloom antiques and the garden was picturesque. As soon as I booked the stay, Tim emailed me confirming my stay and asked if I had a check-in time in mind and any dietary needs that he needs to be aware of for breakfast. This is a one bedroom Bed & Breakfast and Tim truly treats you well. It is very evident that he enjoys what he does and he takes care of his guests. Walking in, he offered me iced tea and gave me a tour of his beautiful home. There is a story behind everything and he can tell you all about your journey around the world. There is no TV in the room but he has a huge collection of movies that you can watch in his "den." I woke up to the smell of coffee and a delicious breakfast served on fine china over candlelight.

Curtains are black out and a/c works well and isn't too loud. There is shampoo, conditioner, shower gel and a makeup cloth and hair dryer. The not so great: decor is dated but I don't mind such things, The biggest "ding" is that there is no elevator. The hotel is only two levels but if you have a lot of luggage or you're disabled, it could be a big problem. My main complaint: the bed mattress is/eas horrible. Squishy but not soft and not firm. I can't explain but it was not a comfortable bed. Pillows are fine. The breakfast is OK. It's probably about the same as some other higher end hotels. Nothing else special to eat after breakfast. You're limited to Subway or PizzaHut for later. Having said that, this is a small town in Kansas at least an hour from larger towns. There are only three hotels. This is probably your best shot

The common areas are lovely, the kind of place you could imagine hosting a family meetup Christmas celebration, especially in the library. Didn't get in the pool, but it was heated and very clean. The breakfast had options like the usual eggs, sausage and potatoes, but also included carnitas, taco bar to make a breakfast burrito, overnight oats and chia pudding. No. It's an older spot that you can tell the owners have tried to update as best they can. It's not fancy and you can't control the temp in the room because there is a central thermostat somewhere. That being said, my room was comfortable. Not too hot or too cold. And j like that there is a ceiling fan for air movement. The bathroom isn't the cleanest I've ever seen in my life, but it's good enough. The drain is slow, but the water pressure is good and the water is hot. The bed is basic. A little stiff more me, but fine enough. A 30-something inch flat screen, microwave, and fridge. Small coffee maker. 68 dollars a night! The owner was nice as could be. My interaction with him was super pleasant. I'm pretty sure this is the only place to stay in Abilene. I'm passing through to check out the Eisenhower museum. I'm glad I stopped at this little retro spot. Edit: there are a couple more places to stay. And one holiday inn. But I'm still glad I supported this business.
