The location was great, right near the Mall of America, and a lot of restaurants and shops. They even offer a shuttle to the airport and Mall of America, so definitely check the schedules for that if you are wanting to utilize that service! Every single hotel staff member we talked with was so friendly and helpful, too. We never had a bad experience with any person we chatted with or asked questions of. The hotel property itself is laid out in a particular way. There is one entrance for the check-in area and breakfast spot, along with the business center with computers/printer. They also have a few areas within this building that have just nice couches and tables to sit at as well. They offer free hot breakfast if you can make it there in the morning. They had eggs, sausages, fruits, oatmeal, potatoes, pancakes/waffles, and many juices/coffee/milk options. Definitely a plus when there is a nice hot breakfast you can grab each day! Aside from that check-in/breakfast area, there are other entrances all around the property that each lead to different hallways/stairwells to get to your rooms. (Key card entry, by the way - not just anyone can enter these doors if they aren't a guest.) We actually liked this configuration, because traveling with two cats, it was nice to be able to park next to the entrance closest to our room and enter that way vs. having to take them through a hotel lobby with a bunch of other people to freak them out. I loved that you can request a little magnet for your door (in addition to the Do Not Disturb one that's in your room already), that says you have pets inside also, so the hotel staff really know not to open the door for any reason without letting your little ones out into the hallway. Our room was really nice (we booked the 1 bedroom suite with sofa bed). It had a large bed in the bedroom, with two side tables and lamps, a dresser, and a TV. It has large windows that overlook the parking lot and further buildings, which our cats liked to look out. The bathroom was right off the bedroom, with a small "hallway" between the bedroom and bathroom. That little middle area housed the sink for the bathroom, and two mirrored sliding closet doors. (These were coming off their track when we tried to open them, so we left the mirrored doors alone!) The shower was nice and large, and I appreciated that they offered shampoo, conditioner, and bath gel in the little bottles attached to the shower wall. The only thing I will note about the bathroom is that the door that closes for privacy comes VERY close to the toilet seat itself, so you do have to squeeze in there. There was a huge living room with a large sectional couch, desk area, and another television here. Someone could definitely sleep on that couch and have their own TV, shutting the door to the bedroom if you wanted privacy between the two travelers. Because this is known as one of the "extended stay" brands of the Marriott family, the room also featured a full kitchen with fridge, table, microwave, dishwasher, and cabinets full of dish-ware and glasses. As I said, we were so happy to find this pet friendly hotel that was so clean and with lots of room to run around for them. The only thing I'll note about that, is that if you have little furballs who don't like closed doors, drawers, or cabinets - you may have to block some of these drawers and closets, and anything they can get open while you are out. Even with those few quirks that I mentioned, this is a great hotel for pet parents or anyone who is looking for a nice place to stay near Mall of America. I was in Minneapolis to see the Mall of America and really scoured to find a good hotel in the area…read morethat I could stay at. After much research, I booked the Residence Inn and I was thrilled to stay here. The rates are competitive and the locations perfect for what I needed. My check in was quick and easy and I was put on the third floor. They have complimentary breakfast here daily which was a selling point for me. All rooms come equipped with a full kitchen and I had a seperate bedroom to sleep in even though I was travelling alone. They have a sister Marriott right behind them so they do share some of the services. They offer free shuttle service to and from the Mall of America which I took advantage of. For the return ride, they always pick up on the 40 minute mark and you have to call in advance so the driver can be there at the scheduled time. It's always at the North entrance #1 in the shuttle loop. The hotel does charge for overnight parking here, which is $10 a day or $20 if you do the underground heated parking. I didn't rent a car so fortunately, I did not have to pay the fees. Not sure why they charge considering it's not a "hot spot" or their short on spaces. My room was clean and well stocked but I did have a few issues. First, the bathtub was extremely skinny and very narrow. Also, getting in and out of the shower was difficult at times since the wall of the bathtub was oddly high. Shower curtain didn't do a good job and on more than one occasion I got out of the shower and had a huge puddle of water that I could've easily slipped on. Had to get extra towels a few times to clean up the mess to prevent slipping and falling. If you're here more than a couple nights, the cleaning staff will give your room a refresh and put out fresh towels, make the bed and a few other things. My only complaint on that was she didn't leave additional toilet paper which I had to get myself from the front desk. I was running really low and assumed she'd check. While it's not a huge deal, just seemed odd and inconvenient. Who wants to run out of toilet paper? NOT ME! I did get a few fresh shower towels, but not additional hand towels which I seem to have used a lot of for some reason. The bed itself was comfy, but I could tell it was time to replace it. I docked a star for this because I literally sunk when I laid down. It was not bad enough that I felt the need to switch rooms, but it was noticeable enough that I wanted to mention it in my review. I don't know if they're aware, but the mattress literally was past it's life span. I didn't say anything because I enjoyed my stay here. I slept fine but it really was noticeable that the mattress needed to go! Staff here's fantastic and handled everything professionally. Great people with quick and prompt responses to any concerns I had, questions or assistance (like the shuttle) that I requested. Would gladly stay here again in a heartbeat.

Overall, we had a great time and the property (which was renovated in 2023) is in exceptional shape. The only reason for the missed star is due to a couple of the amenities (see below). Check-In: This was a breeze. Super quick, they found my reservation (which was through a third-party), found my IHG Membership, gave me a free gift, and I was off to my room. The lobby was clean and well-kept. No strange smells like you sometimes have...just clean and inviting. The Room: My son and I got the King suite, one bed, with plenty of space, a TV, desk, closest, two side tables, a microwave and cooler. The bathroom was clean but had two things that were a bit strange. The shower door only opened one way, but it seems that it should have been reversed because ours opened at the back of the shower, so you had to reach in (or step in if you aren't tall), turn the water on and get blasted by that initial cold. Secondly, the bathroom door did not have a lock on it - maybe this was intentional since it was a single bed, but for those with kids, this could be awkward. I know even my wife wants the door to lock if it were just us, so I thought this was weird regardless. No coffee maker in the room, but you can request one if desired. Our door was not air tight but we did not have issues with noise on our stay. Fitness Room: did not visit, but looked to have several machines and weights. Nobody was there when I peeked in. Pool - Pool was indoor, not heated. There was limited seating inside (10 chairs I believe). Additional seating outside. The chairs were limited enough that while I was in the pool with my son, a group came and started moving our stuff for us. We ended up having half a sports team come in and in got REALLY LOUD REALLY QUICK. So if there are more than a kid or two, the sound will echo and it won't be relaxing at all. NO HOT TUB. Breakfast - Continental, with bagels, biscuits, bread, cereal, hard-boiled eggs, juices, milk, coffee, and tea. Pancake machine was operational and clean. Hot offerings included sausage patty, turkey sausage patty, biscuits and gravy, and two kinds of omelettes. My son and I made a pretty delicious breakfast sandwich using the sausage patty and an egg/cheese omelet on a bagel. The serving area is EXTREMELY SMALL, so once it got busy, seating filled up quick and it was difficult to maneuver through the serving area, especially with people going in different directions but all trying to pass through the middle. No bacon unfortunately, but still above average for a normal hotel breakfast. Other amenities: Ice machine on every floor, 24 hour station for coffee and tea in the lobby, multiple well-lit entrances around the building. It threw us off while looking for the Comfort Inn signage. Registration was fast, no hassles. We had prepaid upon booking. Anyway, the room was renovated from two rooms to make our unit a suite. It had a living space and two full bathrooms. The room was spacious with a small section for the kitchen amenities including a mini fridge, microwave, coffee maker and a sink. The room was clean, no foul smell and included two queen-size beds, nice and very comfortable. Shower had good water pressure and flow, no backed up drains. Our stay also included complimentary breakfast with cheese and veggie omelette options, pork sausage patties, pancakes and waffles, fruits, bakery items, cereal and morning beverages. Attended a con here. While most of it took part in the larger hall spaces, they had room parties at…read morenight in the actual hotel rooms. It was a lot of people and the rooms were extremely hot (it was spring time so air probably wasn't on but definitely needed to be for the amount of people attending). Some rooms were smaller, some were suites.. Overall decent sizes. I feel the decor was a bit dated but not a big deal. The lobby is really nice with plenty of seating. Not really sure what the actual parking situation is because we parked at meters a block or so away and walked over each time/day. Years ago (when I was in high school) I attended DECA conference here which was really fun. I don't feel like much has changed

Stayed here for a three day conference and I would not recommend unless you like bed bugs and glass…read morein your food. If the way in which management handled these two separate situations I wouldn't have to leave this review however when a sister is met with "maybe you brought the bugs" or "maybe you put the glass in your dessert" something has to be said. Additionally downtown Minneapolis has left a lot to be desired but this particular hotel is in a seedier/unsafe portion of downtown.....so I would not recommend venturing out at night alone.
