Check-in was at 4. It was self check-in and super easy. The cabin was clean, and everything was in order. The office was closed by the time we got unloaded so we didn't go. It is open for guests to borrow movies or puzzles or purchase firewood. We met one of the owners the following day. Very friendly and lovely lady! I forgot my hair dryer and she lent me one. There were trees surrounding the cabin area, a swing on the front porch, a grill and picnic table in the backyard, and there is a 2-person jetted tub along with a shower stall inside. It had such a comfortable feel to it. Full kitchen and a table for 4, a small TV and a blu-ray player, and a comfortable full sized bed. The couch was a futon, so if you need another bed, it's ready to go! There was enough space to set up our large crate for our dog. We stayed at the Zonta cabin. Overall, I had such an enjoyable time. Nothing beats waking up early in the morning to some fresh, cool air, the trees swaying gently and a nice stroll with the doggo away from traffic and car horns honking and people hurrying to get to places. I got a lot of peaceful reading time done, about 4 hours' worth of hiking in 2 days, and worked on some puzzles we borrowed from the office. I absolutely recommend this cabin resort for a relaxing getaway!

I'm very happy to report that Kishauwau's cabin fit the bill nicely. Kishauwau is what I've been describing as a cabin development. There are about 15-16 cabins in an area that backs up to the Vermillion River. In fact, the ravines behind some of the cabins are very steep. Anyone with small children will have to keep a close eye on the kids every minute they're out back. The scenery is spectacular, but oh boy, you don't want anyone sliding down that ravine. Our cabin had all the basics we needed -- a double bed, a fold-out futon couch, a big bathtub with a separate shower, and a kitchen stocked with plates, silverware, pots and pans, dishwashing liquid, and more. Every cabin has a outdoor fire ring, a grill, a porch swing, chairs, and a picnic table. The larger cabins had several chairs and tables. We had a TV with a DVD player -- you can borrow DVDs from the plentiful supply in the office building. NO INTERNET! If you can't live without access to instragram, you will be out of luck. So, be sure to plan ahead for ways to entertain yourself. I should also mention that the cabin was spotlessly clean when we arrived. The grounds are neat and well-maintained. The office has simple supplies for sale such as toothpaste, shampoo, etc., along with some snacks and drinks. There is also a small gift shop. I've already recommended Kishauwau to two friends here in Chicago. I'm very happy to recommend it to you, too.

I loved this hotel…read more I stayed here on the way back east from a trip to Colorado. This was the first AmericInn that I've stayed at, and I wasn't sure what to expect. However, I was pleased with every aspect of this hotel. Check in was super easy and fast. The woman behind the desk was very helpful in explaining all of the available amenities. Near the front desk is one of my favorite parts about the hotel: a 24 hour coffee/tea bar. I'm not big on coffee, but I was IN LOVE with how many teas were offered! I'm talking 7+ varieties. It was amazing and I was delighted. The lobby was beautifully decorated for fall, and the hotel smelled really good and comforting. The decor was neutral yet welcoming, and everything was clean and well taken care of. The room was pretty nice, and included a mini-fridge and microwave. The beds were comfortable and everything seemed clean. I really liked how big the window was in the room, because it made everything seem more open and bright. Included were the standard amenities like soap, shampoo, and lotion--but a makeup remover towelette was in the bathroom too, and I thought that was pretty cool. The pool/hot tub: Probably the nicest I've seen in a hotel. Everything was clean, there were plenty of towels, and there's a shower/bathroom in the pool area, which is rare to find! I spent a lot of time in the pool while I was there, and it was really just a great time. They have an exercise room, which I didn't use, but which looked clean and updated. This is probably something that a lot of people don't notice, but the elevator was really nice at this hotel. Some hotels have elevators that are really slow or creaky and you just aren't sure if you'll make it to your room. This elevator was really fast and seemed pretty new. Wi-Fi was good. I work while I'm traveling and I had no problems with it. Had some trouble watching TV, because the satellite was going out. It wasn't bad weather, so I don't know what happened. It wasn't a big deal, as most of the channels were okay. The breakfast was EPIC!! The breakfast room is really nice, with lots of seating and decorated to go with the season. They had a lot lot lot to choose from: fresh scrambled eggs (not like you usually find--these tasted really fresh), crispy bacon, waffle makers, fresh-tasting orange and apple juice, donuts, muffins, bagels, English muffins, toast (all in baggies for extra sanitation, which was a nice touch), cereal, fruit, and a fridge full of yogurt, cottage cheese, milk, and a few other choices. They also had coffee, tea, hot cocoa mix, and apple cider mix. One cool thing? They had fresh pitchers of ice water, which is something that I often don't see at other hotels for their breakfasts. I also liked that they had wooden tongs to get your bagels etc from the toaster with, because I'm always burning myself when I get my breakfast bagels at hotels. :) Overall, I cannot recommend this hotel enough!! I just wish they had them in the east so that I could stay again. If I am ever going past this hotel for any reason, I will find a way to stop there for the night! It costs a little more than the "economy" hotels across the street, but trust me when I say that it's absolutely 1000000% worth it!

These rooms are suites with the studio being the smallest. It's great to have a kitchen area (with a dishwasher and mini stove!) and some space to relax besides your hotel bed. The studio has a 3 person couch with ottoman and it just feels "homey". The furniture is not worn and decor is not dated or looking tired. I'm so happy I found this place. The staff is really nice. The amenities are ample: a pool, fitness center, basketball court, free hot breakfast, and lounge area where check in is. Self-parking is free unlike some of the other hotels a mile away. Overall, a nice place for a single person, couple, or a family. I wanted to take off one star because the floors could've been swept a little better but minor compared to the craziness I saw at the first hotel I checked in at-- that place has 3.5 stars on Yelp (how?!?!). This Marriott is leaps and bounds nicer than that so 4 stars wouldn't do this Residence Inn justice so all the stars go to them because relatively speaking, I think this one is the true chain hotel gem.
