Driving from Asheville, NC to Traverse City, MI and needing a pet friendly motel for my wife, dog and myself, I googled "Chillicothe Ohio Hotels", which returned this place. I chose Super 8 by Wyndham Chillicothe @ $74, noticing "No prepayment needed - pay at the property" I entered my AMEX no. to hold the room. Entered address into GPS and learned this wasn't in Chillicothe, OH. It was in Chillicothe, Missouri! An hour later I called the Super 8 to cancel. I couldn't understand the woman who answered the phone very well, but told her i needed to cancel. She said some things that I couldn't understand, but thought I had cancelled. While I thought she agreed, I wasn't totally sure, so I called back to clarify and then understood what she actually said was that I could NOT cancel because I needed to cancel at least 24 hours before. I pled my case that I had only placed the hold an hour or so before and what she was asking was impossible. Still I thought I'd be okay, because I was to "pay at the property". Upon returning home, I checked my AMEX to find that I was in fact billed, $84.65 for the room in Missouri, as well as a room we eventually stayed at in Circleville, Oh, the Hampton Inn. Still I wasn't overly concerned, foolishly thinking that Booking.com, would certainly correct the error, but instead more frustration ensued. read more

This place is not clean, they got a ant problem, under age teenagers that doesn't know what's goin on, and the one that does know what's goin on is unprofessional, cussing at you can't even give the corporate number or his name. The water went out and they didn't even notify us at all like we didn't need it. Mind you we are a crew of 30 plus. I neglected to take pictures, duh. But we had to repeatedly ring a bell for service. The man came out after 5 minutes of nonstop ringing to check us in. Walking to the room we had to move a cleaning cart out of the middle of the hall so we could get by. Once inside we found that the shower head was broken, and the safety bar was missing. There was no shampoo and the hairdryer didn't work. Also, there was coffee and filters but no coffee pot. The ceiling in the bathroom was badly stained from water damage and light bulbs were out. One bed had broken springs and was very uncomfortable and made all sorts of noise. We also found the outer wall had signs of water damage right next to an outlet. Also there was an ironing board but no iron. Note to self: always check yelp first. read more

We needed a room near Trenton for the Missouri Days Marching Festival for Friday the 14th to Saturday the 15th of October. Do to last minute changes we were left with no other option but to stay here. I should have known from the looks of this place that it was going to be hell but I ignored the little red flags (the Super 8 sign not being lit up, the cops sitting in the hard to find parking lot) and shrugged it off. BIG MISTAKE! Check in took much longer than it should have, the girl at the front desk had no idea what she was doing. She asked me for the credit card she had on file so she could charge it, but I booked and paid through Hotels.com and apparently this girl had no idea how that worked, so I walked her through it. After 45 minutes and 2 phone calls she finally gets us booked into our room. A friend of mine was also staying there and said she had the same issues with check in, she said the girl seemed high when she would speak with her, I thought the same but just figured she was a little rough around the edge. We were tired and had to get an early start so we brought all our stuff in the room without checking it first - another big mistake. The floors were obviously cleaned with a dirty mop or just a dry mop because they were sticky in spots and left our feet black. The bathroom door frame was busted, random food crumbs on the floor, sticky fingerprints on the mirror, cuts in the window screen like someone had once tried to break in or out. Most of this was brushed off because there was no where else to stay. The next morning we got up for breakfast and the darn pancake machine wasn't working, the "fresh" biscuits the older Indian lady brought out were cold and hard. I spoke with an older Indian gentleman (the owner) about getting a late check out (check out is 11 I only needed until 12), he unhappily agreed after a little persuasion and we left for the Parade. We returned at the hotel at 10:22 to find housekeeping in our room playing on her phone and watching tv from the edge of the bed, the bed stripped down to the mattress cover and bathroom picked up. Some of my items were still in the room when we left for the parade (charger cords, $40 cash, and food in the fridge). I went to the desk to let the girl working (who happen to be the same girl from the night before) know that its not check out yet and housekeeping shouldn't be in there. After 4 times of telling her that we still needed the room and that I had stuff in there still she asked me if I wanted her to tell housekeeping to stop so we could get back in there... Well duh! The blonde heavy set housekeeper gave me a dirty look because we interrupted her play time I guess. What we found upset me more than anything. The cash and food were gone, there was a gross blood stain on the mattress cover and a bed bug trying to hide. When I went to confront the front desk about these finding they were no where to be found. My fiancé wouldn't let me keep waiting after 30 minutes. He threw our stuff in the bed of the truck (didn't want to risk bed bugs in the cab of the truck) and we left. I tried numerous times to contact the hotel owners but keep getting the run around. I guess Wyndham doesn't care what they put their name on anymore. I tried to review this place on hotels.com and, of course, it conveniently doesn't work. read more

This is the worst hotel I have ever had to stay at. I booked through Hotels.com and the reviews there were decent. We requested a non smoking room but they tried to put us in a smoking room. Even the non smoking room smelled like smoke. There was nothing good about this place. The tv was not working and my door wouldn't lock. read more

I rarely leave reviews but tonight was a bit unsettling. We arrived and the hotel clerk stated he didn't have our reservation. His remark "That's why you book with us and not online." was the type of customer service that brought me here for a review. We have stayed here several times in the past with mediocre service and it's simply 'a room' - exactly what we needed at the time. It was almost a joke to him that we were standing there calling the booking site to figure things out. The booking site stated there was no reason they shouldn't have our reservation so we're working to get a refund. At the end of the day, we chose to go get another hotel with how we were treated. All in all, if you're wanting treated like an actual guest, go somewhere else. read more

Naturally, there aren't a whole lot of options in some of these small towns. And Super 8 can be a decent chain. This one, however, I would stay away from. Overpriced. Unfriendly staff. Extremely uncomfortable beds. Tiniest bathtub I have ever seen. Mildew, holes in the walls, worn out sheets and towels, etc. The wireless internet kept going out. There is no elevator (not fun when you have a heavy suitcase). But hey, they do provide you with a special soiled (but laundered) towel for cleaning your guns. read more

I am a fan of Motel 6 but you can not be too choosy on the road. This Super 8 did not quite win me over. Check-in was slow as the staff were pre-occupied with some mystery embodied in a stack of receipts. Our room ran near $80, which is about $20 more than I tend to pay at Motel 6. We arrived to find the AC running hard, gracing the room with a mildew aroma. The wireless Internet was kaput but the bathroom did come equipped with a soiled-but-laundry-clean rag for use in the cleaning of firearms. The bed was clean and comfortable, until about 4am when the mobile hunting dog kennel parked outside our room commenced a canine symphony. The night clerk, who was a nice enough fellow, carefully studied the situation and concluded that maybe he could ask the guest to move their truck to the other side of the parking lot, so as to annoy other guests. I checked with the local police, who confirmed that as long as the dogs had "enough food and water" that it was legal enough to keep them locked in a vehicle overnight. At 6:30am the alarm clock went off. Fortunately this was after a few good nights of sleep so one bad night would not wreck me. We slept in a wee bit and therefor missed what they offer for "breakfast" but the nearby Country Kitchen got the job done. read more

I gave them a 1 star only because I could not give them a 0. We traveled across the country with our reservation for a king bed, non smoking room. When we arrived, they said they only had 5 king non smoking rooms and they were all full. They offered us a smoking room, which we can't stay in. When we declined, they said they would give us a 2 double bed room for an additional charge of $25. We were told they were not sold out either. We had to ask to speak with the manager 3 times before he came out from his back room. Not because the girl at the front desk wouldn't get him, it was becasue she called him to come out and left to go get him to come out...but he would not. When he finally immerged from his back office he introduced himself as Binay Patel. We were clearly an interruption to his day. He could care less that we traveled across the country and had a reservation. He first informed me my reservation was wrong. When I showed him, my reservation he just said too bad. He said his computer said we requested a smoking room and it wasn't his fault. I too feel as though it wasn't my fault as I have proof of what I reserved. I find it puzzling he would lose a customer over $25. Incidentally, we stayed here 2 weeks earlier. TV did not work. Called the front desk and spoke with the same manager. He remembered. He said they would send someone up to fix...but they never came. We left and went to the Fairfield Inn just down the street. It costed me $115 instead of the $25 upcharge at Super 8...but it was worth it. Newer hotel. Beautiful lobby and great friendly staff. Stay at the Super 8 at your own risk...and hope you don't have to speak with Binay Patel. read more

When we arrived at Super 8 Chillicothe Mo. There was a large group of people out side drinking. When we opened the door to go up stairs to our room 229 there were a few woman inside on the stairs drinking and talking loudly in the stairwell. One didn't even move for us to carry our bags upstairs. We got to our room opened the door and it smelled bad of smoke. ( supposed to be a non-smoking room) checked the room out and it seemed ok. Tried to turn the tv on and the remotes would not work. Went in the restroom and the door handle was coming off. The ceiling had black mold all over it. ( My grandson was having asthma attacks almost immediately after we got there). The staff was unable to change our room till the next day. Needless to say it was a long night after a 12 hour drive. Our little guy could not breath well. The next morning about 11 we got a different room. It was better everything worked thank goodness. The door knob was coming off in this room also. I think next time we will pay more money and not stay at this location read more

The room was OK and the "Barko Lounger" chair was a surprise. I travel light so going up the stairs was no problem. Wonder what a handicapped person would do since there is no elevator? Isn't there a law about that? My main concern is I paid in advance in May and the clerk charged me again when I checked out in June. He had me in file and pulled up the paperwork easily. Didn't really notice until I was going over my Mastercard and thought "twice in Chillicothe, MO?" Yes, I am trying to resolve the $65 SPECIAL rate I was charged. Twice. read more

It is a simple motel. The price is reasonable. While nothing is overly fancy, it is highly recommended for the price. The staff, for one, is very friendly and very helpful. The beds we had were very comfortable and the linens were both clean and in good condition. Yes, it is a bit older, but everything was adequate and the fixtures are clean. The bath may be tiny, but it was completely new. The breakfast is fine. Enough variety to satisy a family. While nothing fancy, I highly recommend this motel. Very fine facility for the $$. I've certainly had much worse for the cost. If folks want a fancier place with newer amenities, then they should go pay twice the cost elsewhere. read more

I was skeptical about staying here from reading the reviews posted. I have to say that the hotel staff are all very friendly, management included. The room is clean, breakfast is great & the linens are all clean. The reason I specially mentioned the linens is because people stated that the towels were not clean, absolutely not the case. Terrible customer service! We made a reservation and our car broke down 1.5 hrs away from the hotel. We notified the hotel immediately that we won't be able to make it and they still charged us for the night. The reservation was reserved and cancelled in less than 4 hrs and they still charged us! We even stayed in another Super 8. We travel this route all the time and will never stay at this hotel! read more

WARNING - Do Not make a reservation with this Motel. If you need to cancel the reservation (even with a 10 day notice) they will run the charges while you are on the phone canceling. When you call the Super 8 franchise number, they can;t hardly help since they are independently owned but operated as a Super 8.
