Absolutely exceeded my expectations…read more For the past 4-5 years I have averaged 25-35 hotel stays per year. The La Quinta was closer to a 3.5 star rating than many rated 3.5 star hotels. The room was EXCEPTIONALLY CLEAN, smelled wonderful and was beautifully decorated, arranged very Well and was comfortable. The clerk was professional and accommodating. The biggest issue I had was that there is NO restaurant on the premises. When I booked, the booking site I used said there was one on site. We were hungry from traveling all day, so we were very disappointed to have parked our large RV and would have had to disconnect to go out to eat. We ended up walking to Whata Burger right across the street. I do not know if the hotel had shut it down, it had recently been remodeled, again very, wry nicely. It could have been the booking site error as well. Just get something to eat before you settle in for a relaxing night. Will definitely be booking here again in my return trip in a month!

Probably the worst breakfast that I have seen at a hotel, or lack of breakfast is more like it. I woke up 2 hours early to get breakfast only to find no milk for cereal, only a pitcher of apple juice. No waffle mix for the waffle iron. And only two cups of mixed fruit (Dole sealed cup) and two sticky buns. And there were people ahead of me. I just turned and walked away.

And this morning... they are empty... so they weren't reserved. Just not what I expected from this hotel. They are usually SO welcoming and make my stay feel super comfortable. Check in was easy and friendly and the hotel is located in a great location close to the freeway and numerous restaurants. The outside of the hotel was quite run down. Oddly I would stay here again on my way to Dallas mostly because of the location and the fact that they have a pool. I did not wake up early enough to try the breakfast as it ends at 9:30 but did appreciate that the lobby area had plenty of pamphlets on things to do in Texas. Hopefully if we decide to stay here again we will be spared the extra guests in our room!

The motel is a little older/rundown but has a few upgrades. The mounted lcd TV was a nice touch. New countertops. The microwave was barely operable. The phone did not work period (what if I needed 911 and my phone died?), the tub squeaks when shifting your weight. Kind of annoying. The big thing here is that housekeeping was amazing! I had a Mexican woman come clean our room. She had bleached the entire bathroom down. She put brand new blankets and linens on our beds. She even mopped our kitchenette floor. Since it was 3 of us there for a week she also took quite a bit of garbage out for us. No complaints! I tipped her $20 because she was so thorough with cleaning. I don't know about most but I will take a run down room as long as it's clean and tidy. I would recommend this motel for those on casual business or those who just need a quick place to stay. The owners are Indian and they are very helpful and friendly. I believe his name is Mr. J and he runs the Inn with his wife. A lot of welders/construction guys stay here on contracts, my battery died in my car and two of them came out with tools willing to help. I never felt scared or unsafe while staying here. The owner walks the grounds at night to make sure everything is good. There is a laundry facility here however I did not utilize it or check it out at all. I will stay here again if I come back to Fairfield.

Both locations have clean restrooms, an indoor museum, and beautiful outdoor walkways. However, this location has larger shaded bench areas and even a playground for the kids. If you'd prefer to take a break away from the elements, they have comfortable seating inside with a built-in outlet too. This is the best rest stop I have come across. Walker County's stop comes in at a close second. I can't wait for the day AmTrak pulls through with a Houston-Dallas high speed rail line, but I appreciate the effort that went into this impressively-designed stop in the meantime.
