While travel through northern Illinois had the need to stay over in Freeport. Decided to stop at the Super 8. This is one of the nicer Super 8 motels that I've stayed at. The room was clean and comfortable and the rate was reasonable. Breakfast was available, but the only hot item was waffles from the ubiquitous waffle press. A little more variety would have been nice, but I'm not complaining. All-in-all, the Super 8 is not a bad place to stay in Freeport. read more

So i booked this place through Orbitz. Checked in, front desk was not good, didnt even say hello. It gets better later. The lobby was dirty, couches super old, only two treadmills in the workout room, I mean that was all, two threadmills, nothing else. Inside the room, it was dirty, bathroom was somewhat clean. I didnt trust them enough to ear their breakfast. Upon checking out, they charges me $75 more. I went to the front desk and the clerk was sleeping in another room. He was rubbing his eyes and acted like i was bothering him. He said the overage is an orbitz problem and not super 8 problem and that there is nothing he can do. I was upset at this time and he proceeded to go back to sleep in a different room from the front desk. Never stay here. When I arrived the parking lot was abandoned. First red flag. Next they put me in a smoking room after I reserved a non smoking room and played dumb. It reeked of bad smell. They put me in another room. That room looked nothing like the photo. It was missing trim on the wall, it didn't have an island in it, no hot tub just jets in the tub. One light worked. The pool was under maintance. No one else was there. Not friendly. I left an hour after I got there. Still got charged for both nights and did not even stay there. Was just staying the night for a bowling tournament and wasn't looking to spend a fortune. Was a little skeptical but was not disappointed. Outside needs some updating but the room was clean, shower head amazing, working AC and staff was friendly and helpful. Disappointed breakfast is only for a couple of hours and selection was small but for the price of hotel what did I want out of a free breakfast? I would stay here again! read more

At the last minute Friday night I had to drive to Freeport ,I called super 8 before coming to make sure I could bring my dog,the girl at the front desk was wonderful,caring and kind.it was a long year for me,I buried my son, had to put down my dog and was traveling with 3 grandons and my 15 yr old dog.i must admit I was a mess when I arrived,drove 4 hrs.when I arrived and got to my room it was very nice,very clean and comfortable beds.my dog who is old,on meds and is nearing the end of her life fell ( something that she's been doing lately,a employee who worked there immidetely came to help me.by the time I left the next day I felt refreshed and cared for.breakfast was great,so much of a assortment.i travel regularly and I must say this is the best super 8 I have ever stayed at.thank you to the owner and all his employees for helping me through a hard time I was going through read more

Avoid at all cost. The staff is not trained. The staff does not seem to care about the guests. Even though we had a reservation and confirmation number, it still took 45 minutes to check in because the person at the front desk did not know what rooms were occupied. The room we were given had urine on the bathroom floor and all over the toilet. When I told the woman at the front desk, she said - "ewww, but I'm not gonna clean it." There was no housekeeping and there were no other rooms that were "cleaner" available. I had to get cleaning supplies and clean it myself. There were cigarette burns on the bed spread. Our sheets were dirty, the lobby smelled like weed, our toilet didn't flush, and we had no hot water in our shower. I reached out to customer service and never heard back from anyone at the location. Wyndham first tried making me sign up for their reward program to be refunded. After a week and a half of arguing they agreed to refund me 2/3 of the cost. Upon arrival, the front desk clerk was wonderful, we had booked through Wyndham Rewards and prepaid our reservation, which was for 3 nights. Before leaving the front desk, I had ask if we were required to do anything else and they said no. This trip was accompanied by my brother, myself, and my 2 kids. At midnight I received an alert from my bank, stating I was charged $40 from the hotel. I went downstairs to speak with front desk and he was incoherent. I've booked through Wyndham many times before and stayed at other Super 8 motels, never have I ever been treated so poorly. He put his hand in my face and said he wasn't speaking to me. His speech was slurred and I had to repeat my question regarding this extra charge. He then informed me that the $40 charge was a "surcharge" and that it was a 14 day hold for debit card users. After speaking to John the night auditor, I just went upstairs to sleep. I wasn't about to argue about the charge or wake my kids up to relocate to a different location. By 7am, we received a call from the front desk (Morgan). She ordered us to vacate the room immediately and hung up on me. I went downstairs yet again to get some clarification as to why we being forced out of our room so early being that we paid for 3 nights. When I got there, Morgan was being slanderous and disrespectful, I was being cursed at. She said, "Fuck off, fuck you", slammed door and ignored me. I have all of this recorded. Is this really how you treat YOUR guest? Is this what you call HOSPITALITY? I called Super 8 customer care and they explained to me that their front desk (Morgan) told them we were charged $40 due to lack of proof that we had a Friends & Family Voucher for our stay. None if that made any sense. First, John told us it was a $40 hold for debit card users. Then, Morgan tells them it was for not showing our voucher. Regardless, we were definitely not staying here another night. Besides the front desk clerk that checked us in, the rest of the staff was shameful. I sincerely hope the management of this property will reconsider how they are running this Super 8. If not, they will surely loose all their guest and business. read more

Long story short BED BUGS & run down facility. We should have went to a different hotel after the first 5 minutes of being our room. It smelled like someone had just got done smoking a cigarette thought I booked a non smoking room but whatever no big deal. Next I notice the smoke detector was hanging halfway off the wall and being the nice guy I am I fixed it. Next I tried to call down to the front desk but the phone didn't work. So me and my girlfriend go down to the lobby to meet our friends staying there and they begin to tell us there gross room story my friend took a shower and when he dried himself off he noticed blood on his towel so his wife looked him over and they could not find a cut anywhere. nasty! We all go out come back later and get ready to go to bed. My girlfriend made me check the bed before we laid down and I noticed a couple black dot stains on the sheets I figured they were burn stains. We laid down and within a couple minutes I kept thinking I could feel something crawling on my leg I kept lifting the sheets to look but I didn't see anything so I figured it was nothing and went to bed. Next day wake up put the please clean my room thing on the door and went out that was at 8 am got back at 1:30 am and my room had not been touched no bed maid no clean towels no nothing. Went to bed felt the same thing on legs as night before still saw nothing. I check out and go home and later that night I start itching like crazy on my toe then leg then other leg and then I see it a little black speck I get the twesers and pluck it off me I had never saw a bug like this before but I had a feeling I knew what it was and after looking on the internet I was right BED BUG! I call the hotel but the manager wasn't there so I call the next day and they said he would be back in a half hour I call back in a half hour and they said I just missed him. I tell the lady at the front desk what I was calling for and she tells me she will let him know and she would give him my number so he could call me. 3 hours later I call again and she tells me he will call you tomarrow so now im getting really annoyed so I tell her to let him know I was contacting the Illinoise department of public health and hung up. What do ya know he called me with in 5 minutes but was very rude to me I told him all I wanted was a refund to cover the cost of whatever I would need to get rid of them and for my time I would spend doing it and he just kept saying they don't have bed bugs and that I should have reported it at checkout. I would have but I didn't know till I got home so right now im waiting to here back from the corporate office. The girl at the corporate office was very nice and that's the only positive thing I can say about this whole ordeal. Im not saying I will never stay at a super 8 again but I definatly will not be staying at the one in Freeport Illinoise. read more
