There was a huge event going on in Chyenne, WY, a rodeo, and bunch of other things that filled the city up. The Motel 6 there was $109 so we decided to get further out of town where the hotels would be cheaper and away from all of the festival who-ha. About 50 miles away we found this Super 8. They allow pets, but only in smoking rooms, and they only had one left, a king-bed room. What-ever, we took it. Each pet was $10 for a total of $20 pet fee. The total for 2 people to have the privilege of sleeping in a a smoking, king size room at a Super 8 in the middle of nowhere? $150 -- yes, $150 a night. Why so much? Because there was a special event that weekend. Common, 50 miles away from the special event and they are charging special event prices. It was just an excuse to charge people more money because they knew those people could not stop in Chyanne and this was the next stop. Yes, they got the money and yes, they were full but I still think it is taking advantage. We got a roll-away bed for me (I was traveling with my dad after all and that would have been weird) and went to find food. With the 24 foot truck towing a car, we were not going to drive anywhere. The diner across the street just closed, at 8pm. The clerk informed us that yes, there is a Pizza Hut but neither them, nor anyone else in tow delivers. WHAT? So we landed up eating summer sausage, crackers, microwave popcorn and candy out of the vending machine for dinner. Luckily, I had stowed away some of Periscope Cellars new travel bottles of Dry Rose. That made dinner much better for me. What else to add to the list? The room reeked of smoke, as did the hallway (yes, I know it's a smoking room but still). The TV remote did not work. The air conditioner was not that cold. Did I mention no restaurants nearby? The beds came with a top sheet and a very flimsy blanket. The room was not impressively clean. Breakfast consisted of coffee, juice, cereal and some Costco muffins and danishes. I was not impressed. Was there anything good? It was directly off the highway. After we were about 2 miles away, my dad realized he left his phone and iPod in the room and the inn keeper retrieved it for him and held it at the front desk while we turned around and went back for it. If you are on I-80 East, plan your trip well so you are not stuck in Hell, Nebraska. You will not be sorry.

We stayed here and found it to have the best handicapped room we experienced in several cross country trips. Remarkable.

If there was a way for negative stars there would be. I do not recommend this place. I understand…read morethey are going through renovations, but as a resident that lives here, this place is just disgusting. Pictures I have attached what it looks like and has looked like for the last 4-5 months without any indication of getting cleaned up, just more and more trash being built up.

I don't normally review hotels unless they are exceptionally good or exceptionally bad…read more Unfortunately, people do need to know about this hotel. We could have used some notice. We had checked this hotel on Yelp before staying and did not find any red flags, or any reviews at all in the last two years. However, after our stay, we checked Google Reviews and found many red flags. Guess we will be checking Google from here on out. Talking with a staff member, we understand that the hotel has been under renovation for 8 months so far, and will likely be under renovation for months more. Apparently the new beds have been on backorder for 12 months so far. They are renovating in stages. Fortunately, they have finished replacing the carpets already and there is no longer a lot of dust. However, the partially renovated rooms still have issues even with the replacements. We stayed in Room 200. Hilton App showed us checked in but we were not. We needed to check in manually. During our stay the key card system was not working and we had to be let into our rooms by staff. Bagged waters were not provided the night we stayed but were being offered to new people the next morning. Our stay here was the worst experience of the Hampton Inns on our 3000 mile road trip. Personally, we won't stay here again. We will stay either in North Platte or Cheyenne. PROS: 1. Windows do a decent job of blocking the freeway noise 2. The shower is new 3. The carpets are new 4. The couch and chairs are new 5. There is a bed 6. There is working AC 7. The door does lock 8. Water does work 9. Elevator does work 10. Staff was kind CONS: 1. The hotel is the closest hotel to the freeway. 2. Only one elevator 3. New shower drain was clogged already and drained very slowly, leaving us showering in a lake 4. Old shower head was not adjustable in any direction or flow rate or pattern 5. Toilet seat hinge was broken, tilting the seat 6. Toilet was too close to bathroom door, so that you had to close the bathroom door to sit down 7. Bathroom door drifted closed always and would hit you on the toilet. Bathroom door needed to be all the way open or hard closed. 8. Shower light took a long time to fully come on. Shower/toilet room was completely dark otherwise. 9. Beds were old, hard, and really uncomfortable 10. All room number signage is not mounted on the wall yet, it is sitting on the floor 11. Bathroom sink hot and cold are reversed 12. Shower temp varies A LOT and could scald you if you turn it up too far when it dips cold
