I stayed here a few years ago with my dad and granny, we had to go somewhere because our house's power was faulty due to the wiring being old and not up to date, our lights hadn't been on in over a week. I remember putting my tortoise's cage right beside the door and I could tell that even he liked it. This place was awesome and I loved the yellow room. STAY AWAY!! The room smells bad. The beds were uncomfortable and the blankets had cigarette burns every were. We walked into our room with exposed wires. Looks it it's was we're the smoke detector would go. The smoke detector was by the tv with no batteries. After a shower the tub would not drain and had approximately 3 inches of water in it. Some light switches did not work and some of the outlets did not wor Now for the complimentary breakfast. It was a JOKE breakfast. They had frozen biscuits that had to be microwaved. They had cereal, oatmeal (had to put in the microwave as well), the juice machine was broken, and they only had water and milk. read more

I pulled off the highway and thought this building was abandoned. There was a section of the wall gone covered with plastic.building materials all over. Another guest was checking out because the room had moms in the bathroom. I did not get to the room. The lady at he desk was rude and short. I booked at price line this is a misrepresentation of price line and super 8. No one is going to give me a refund. read more

This particular Super 8 is located just off the highway in Monteagle, Tennessee. I was looking for a place to grab a few hours sleep and be on the road and this place fit the bill perfectly. There is a Waffle House right next to it and a few fast food options, but I did not see much else. I would definitely stay here again. read more

I would leave less than 1star, but Yelp doesn't go less than 1. The room smelled clean, but the carpet was dirty. There were COCKROACHES, and BIG ASS FLIES in the room. I think there were either flees or bedbugs too. I will NOT be staying there ever again. read more

Disgusting hotel do not even go there! The property looks like a dump. The rooms smell of dog urine and the carpeting is super filthy. The whole place is a dump I would never even recommend it to a homeless person. The staff are so rude especially the older looking lady probably the owner that is in the front desk. I checked in and ten minutes later the power went out. This has never happened to me before staying in a hotel. They wouldn't refund me the money back. I stayed in the hotel on march 31 room #207 one night. Everything was good until I found that I was mistakenly double charged , I payed by cash at front desk and they charged the card also. Hopefully I will get my refund on the card that I made the reservation. read more

Booked a room for some relatives that were in town. They turned down the covers to find urine on the sheets. They called the front desk for new sheets and were told they would be right down, but it took over 2 hours at 11PM at night before they showed up with new sheets. I was worried about the location of the hotel. It's right on the I and being in the middle of nowhere somewhat concerned me. I was pleasantly surprised at the rooms. They were safe and very very clean. No stale smell and best of no stale smoke smell.m Best part was the price. I walked in and it was cheaper than the Internet rate I could find. This is my 2nd time here. The first time I knew that it was just a run down Super 8 that is inexpensive and in a decent location along my travels. This time I noticed a few more things so far: 2 roaches I've killed The soap holder in the shower fell off the wall. My bed this time, room 113, is sagging a great deal and the pillows are very old. One of my bathroom rags had something melted into it. I'll say this, the prices are low $59 + tax, and the girl at the desk is nice. I will not stay here again however. I don't do bugs. UPDATE: After the initial review I called the office to notify them. The nice girl moved me to a nearby room. Just as I was completely moved, the room lost power! I dropped something behind the microwave and had to pull it out to retrieve my belongings - well between the microwave's short cord and a faulty 3 way power splitter something sparked immensely and that was that. So the nice lady helped physically move me from that dark room to another further down the row (105). She also refunded me $4 or $5. She was super nice. Time for bed - hopefully I rest well so I can finish my 1,200 mile drive fully alert tomorrow. read more

We were driving to.IL from FL and hit a terrible ice storm. We pulled off around 0500 and was able to get a room. I fell on the sidewalk injuring my knee, the room was only discounted $10 despite the late check in. Our first room, 132, hadnt been turned over. One bed was made the second wasnt and there were dirty linens throughout the room. The lady at the front desk came and gave us a key to another room, 137 clear around the building (outside in an ice storm) and didnt even make sure we got to the room before she left. We got into the second room and well, i will let the pictures speak for themselves... no incident report was made about my injury despite my insistence, the 2 rooms were unacceptable. The gentleman at the front desk was very kind though. read more

Do not stay here. Recently stayed one night while driving from Chicago to Florida, and the rooms were not clean at all. The floor had definitely not been vacuumed and the bathroom was dirty as well. The temperature in the room was hot, and even after turning it all the way down was still hot! Did not sleep at all, after 5-6 restless hours we left at 4am in the morning. read more

One of a few places to stay in the Sewanee - University of the South area, we decided to give it a try this past weekend. The inside of the rooms are better than the motel looks from the outside, as if it has been remodeled recently. We needed an extra pillow and it took 3 requests before we finally got one - without a pillow case. We eventually got a pillow case and made do. (To be fair it was a fairly busy night). Our mattress was definitely fairly old and should be replaced. Also the low flow shower head was weaker than normal for such things. Breakfast was adequate, with scrambled eggs and warm biscuits along with cereal and a do-it-yourself waffle iron. In the courtyard is a place where an old swimming pool obviously used to be, but an effort has been made to remodel it. It remains a bit strange, however. Not bad over all, but it would be nice if they would at least replace the mattresses. read more

Stayed here 2 nights for the local cornbread festival.. This is a very basic motel... That being said, the rooms were very clean, and much nicer inside, as compared to the tired outside of the building..looking well worn... Most likely built in the 1960s, there are old fashioned stairs..so a word of caution, if stairs are a problem... The staff is very friendly and when we had a problem with our room, we were switched in literally 3 minutes to a different room.. We arrived and only wanted a bath a little tv and sleep! We didn't have any towels or tv remote, and the floors needed vacuumed! They charged more than I had seen it for on Expedia + a pet fee, I wouldn't allow my dog on the floor because I was afraid of what she'd get into. This is a great stop along the way. I have stayed here several times in my travels it is always clean, Sue the manager is the most friendly nicest person I've met in a long time, she really goes out of her way to make you feel welcome and comfortable. There's a nice waffle house right next to this Super 8.... I always look forward to this motel when my travels bring me this way, its a nice stop on top of Monteagle. . They also have parking for several large cars.... Which makes it a really great super 8 for me..... I'll see you down the road...... read more

Had a horrible night in a smoking room when I booked a non-smoking room. They blamed booking.com, but I confirmed when I arrived that I wanted a non-smoking room and was told they were giving me the LAST non-smoking room. The room was definitely a SMOKING room that stank horribly. Called the front desk and was told they'd see what they could do. Since she already said it was the last room and it was late I let my 86 year old mom get in bed, 30 min later the desk called to say they had another room...too late. I was treated like I was a moron by the manager in the morning--she kept blaming booking.com and repeating that they did let me know they found a room later on. I asked for a full refund and was given 30% off. Wish I could charge them for cleaning a suitcase full of clean clothes that smelled like stale cigarettes! Never again. read more

We needed a place close to sewanee for an 8:30 am campus tour. The lobby was run down, the " courtyard was a small rocky area with a few iron chairs. The bed spread had a stain. There was no iron. The shower walls had visible patches where shoddy repair work must have been done. The breakfast was inedible. The seating in the breakfast area was all stained and dirty looking. The one positive aspect was that the bed was comfortable. read more

Our entire experience there was horrible. We checked in and we were given a room key. When we opened the door we found the room had not been cleaned. We were given another room and the beds had been made but the room was filthy as were the hallways and motel grounds. Electric wires hanging down and General disrepair everywhere. The toilet leaked water on the floor, one of the door locks didn't work and the real kicker was discovered in the morning when we attempted to take showers. There was NO shower head.....just a pipe coming out of the wall! When I asked about a small discount during the checkout process I was told we should have called maintenance and they would have installed one. We needed to hit the road and couldn't wait. The manager said she would give us a $10 credit on our credit card, but that never happened. This is the first negative review I have ever written and I am not a complainer......until now. read more

They not only will charge you an additional $50 dollars "deposit" they claim they will return, they will then make things up and charge you an additional $100 after you are already gone. They claimed I stole their comforters, which have not even been physically possible with my car already being packed to the brim. Avoid these fraudsters like the plague. read more

To start off with, there was no room number on the motel door when we got to our room. Fast forward to 11:40 pm, and I woke up to what sounded like someone trying to get into our room. I looked out the peep hole, saw no one, but I heard people talking. Then someone came back to the door and was trying to get into the room where my 8-year-old daughter and I were sleeping. I told them they had the wrong room; they apologized and walked away. Then the motel room telephone rang. I answered it, and it was someone at the front desk. She said, "Tell him he left his ID here at the front desk." I told her that apparently they double booked the room because someone was just trying to get into the room that my 8-year-old daughter and I were sleeping in. She said, "I'm sorry," started laughing, and hung up. To have someone try to get into the room you and your child are sleeping in is very unnerving, I got no sleep the rest of the night, and we had to leave at 6:00 a.m. After I got home, I called Priceline to file a complaint, they contacted the hotel directly to see if I could be compensated at all for the issue, but the manager at the hotel said no because I used the reservation. Well, of course, I used the reservation, because I'm not going to wake up my sleeping child at midnight to go searching for another hotel in a town I don't know. On top of that, there was a milky white substance on the mirror when we got there. Absolutely disgusting. Never in my life would I stay at this place again. read more

Stayed here for sanctuary after a long weekend camping at the Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival. The lobby was clean and comfortable and we were excited to see a good breakfast offered in the morning. The rooms were very clean, stylish and comfortable. We didn't have towels in the room but the night shift clerk was in a hurry to get us some which felt nice. On top of that we lost a cell phone after checking out. We asked the house keeper to keep an eye out. After getting back to Texas and tearing apart the car and our suitcases we still couldn't find the phone. We called the hotel and they actually found the phone and are shipping it back to us! Very impressed with the customer service, cleanliness and integrity of this establishment! read more

Not your expected third-rate Super 8. It is an older property but immaculate and very comfortable. Staff were terrific. Continental breakfast is on the low end of offerings but what they do have is acceptable. Can highly recommend. The only problem is the walls. They are way too thin but there isn't much they can do about that. read more
