We stayed here for just one night while we were seeing a run of show at the Caverns, and we really found it to be delightful. This bed & breakfast is just cute - from the outside landscaping (the gardener in me was very pleased to check out the plants) to the interior decor. We happened to be there during a huge rain storm, which I took in from the lovely covered porch. I love watching a good storm, and this was just about perfection. Our room was spacious and well-appointed. We had plenty of room. I am 5'2" and it was a pretty tall bed... I kind of had to hop to get into it. But once I was in, it was plenty comfortable. There is breakfast in the morning, which I chose to sleep through.But my husband said it was good. And there were many available snacks throughout the place for the taking - which were greatly appreciated. read more

Echo the other positive reviews. Super clean. They really go out of their way -- bowls of snacks and coffee and tea always available, great breakfast. For example they had 2 kinds of yogurt and bowls of blackberries, nectarines, blueberries, strawberries and granola to mix in. They had gluten free bread for toast, and have oat milk in addition to half and half for coffee. In short, they are very thoughtful and attentive, and I highly recommend! As to the lone negative review, they do provide toiletries, and the plumbing woked perfectly. It's an old building, so bear that in mind when deciding to come. I think it is charming. read more

Terrific place! The rooms are nice and the beds are comfortable. The common areas on the first and second floors are great, too. The main living room on the first floor has plenty of space for several groups to be together. I think there are two flat-screen TV's there. Breakfast was the highlight for me. On the day I was there, they served banana bread, yogurt with toppings, fresh fruit, juice and coffee, eggs (cooked to order), bacon, and biscuits. I enjoyed their hospitality and would return next time I visit the area. read more

Had the best time at the Monteagle Inn. Everyone was so sweet and accommodating. There are sitting areas with TVs, games, couches, a couple different coffee stations and a room full of drinks and snacks to take up to your room. Our room didn't have a tv but it did have a patio! It was so cozy. Breakfast was delicious and the fruit bar was awesome! A perfect little getaway. Not a lot to do in the area, we heard there were great hikes but we had some pretty bad weather. We definitely look forward to our next visit! read more

This is our second stay here, a nice 1.5 hrs from nashville, lovely inn, with back garden with gazebo and multiple patio areas. There is a wine club so you can come for a drink while passing through on a roadtrip and sit out or stay over night. Rooms are lovely, beds comfy and all the ameneties neatly arranged. As I said the wine list is pages long and there is something to suit every budget. Great lounge area with games, fireplace and music playing. Breakfast was delicious, sweet peppers roasted potatoes, eggs and applewood smoked bacon, fruit platter, cereal etc. The owners will meet any special requests and are nice and friendly. Everything is good quality and thus value for money. Walk to the Highpoint resteraunt is just 10 mins. Tonight we have the inn to ourselves, the mice will play! read more

It's been too long since the wife and I enjoyed a getaway to Monteagle Inn. A night over Labor Day weekend reminded us what a great place this is. Rooms are comfortable and clean. We were fortunate to have a room with two balconies overlooking the courtyard area. Perfect for enjoying a bottle of wine from the inn's wine cellar. Breakfast was fantastic. Our office recently had a retreat that the Monteagle Inn. Upon our arrival we were warmly greeted by the owner Mr. Harmon. This charming bed-and-breakfast is spacious, spotlessly clean and the perfect location for a small office retreat. There is a large porch with small tables and rocking chairs that are perfect for relaxing and conducting small break out sessions. The owners served warm fresh baked cookies in the afternoon. We really enjoyed our stay and plan to return. I highly recommend the Monteagle Inn & Retreat Center. read more

What a wonderful place for an romantic escape, or just a get-a-way from my to do list for a while. The property is beautiful and the ever present staff is always ther to help you. The breakfast was fantastic with the best fruit display and variety I have ever seen. Wait till you see the wine list, over 300 wines and they will open almost any bottle for a glass serving. very informed about wine so it was easy to select something perfect for my palate and budget. A great place for corporate or non-profit groups to get some serious work done in a fun enviroment. read more

A beautiful place to stay in South-East Tennessee. Everything was immaculately clean and well-maintained, the breakfast was excellent, and the grounds are a pleasure to behold. Stayed there several nights on both the outbound and return journeys of a road trip during which Monteagle was not our destination, but this place was so impressive that it warrants being a destination in its own right on a future trip. The rooms are expensive, but worth every nickel. Most assuredly worth a stay for anyone who finds themselves anywhere near Monteagle, just drive safely around the trucks going up and down the big hill on I-24. read more

Traveling to Nashville we decided to stop and spend 1 night at the Monteagle Inn and Retreat Center. They have a very kind staff and unfortunately that is where the positive comments end. When we checked in, we were charged $340 for 1 night in their inn. There were $65 charged in fees, gratuities (still not sure about a charge for no service) and taxes. We were told when we checked in that there was no one on staff after 8pm. We were told they offered wine in the evening. What they fail to tell you, is they charge you $8 per glass and no snacks or anything. They do offer free coffee and hot tea. I have never stayed in a Bed and Breakfast that did not offer a free cocktail hour, especially when paying over $300 per night. We went out for a nice dinner and came back to settle in for the night. Much to our surprise, we heard a crying child just down the hall (and this is where the fun begins). We inquired about their child policy the next day and were told they have age limits but the guests registered online so they couldn't do anything about it. $340 and a crying child to listen to during our supposedly quiet evening. Each time we flushed our toilet in the room, water came out the bottom of the toilet onto the floor. In the morning we decided to take a quick shower before we headed on the road. There were no toiletries, shampoo, conditioner etc. Just one small bar of soap. When we turned on the shower, water came spraying out the side of the shower head so there was almost no water pressure. When we headed down for breakfast, we asked to talk to someone about our room. We were told they don't have anyone on staff in the mornings except the people serving breakfast. I left my name and number and did not receive a call. After calling a second time, I received an email from the owners offering me a $100 gift certificate back at their inn. When I explained we would not be coming back and I would prefer a $100 refund, they did not respond. Do yourself a favor and keep driving past Monteagle. There are MUCH nicer and MUCH less expensive places to stay just down the road. We will never go back and I suggest the same for you. $340....what a huge disappointment. read more

I stayed here 1 night for a corporate retreat and it was great! The inn is nicely decorated, clean, and quiet. The staff is very friendly and accommodating, and WOW they made excellent meals! Highly recommended. read more
