    MAPCO - $2.54 for Regular!

    MAPCO

Over the holidays, we headed northbound and picked MAPCO Mart in Monteagle for a little rest stop…read more We were in need of some ordinary, road trip necessities like fuel, a bathroom break and some snacks. As I hurried into the gas station, I immediately found signage pointing to the restroom. I opened the door and WOW. The ladies bathroom here is very clean. Hands down, she was the star of the show or maybe I should say...hands-free. I so appreciated the hands-free opener on the bathroom door; it featured a foot pull, so you don't have to worry about getting germs on your hands right after washing. That's a real plus in the midst of a pandemic! One more thing...there is a McDonald's attached to MAPCO Mart. We didn't experience it personally, but another handy feature if you need a bit more fuel than a candy bar! :)

I've never seen this but was super happy for an opportunity to stay even more safe from germs. I can't say people were wearing their masks willingly as I watched them put them on to go inside, so needless to say, go gloves! Went indoors to use the bathroom to a super clean space. Signs on the doors stating to wear a mask and the retail space was pretty spread out. I did think it was odd there were still roller grill items albeit the items were in a single row on the furthest back roller. Anyway, bathroom was clean with the foot door openers which is mostly what I care about. Great job!!! And bonus, there is an attached McDonalds.

The restrooms were very clean - with touch-less faucets, and manually operated soap dispensers and you have a better chance of seeing GOD than you do getting water at a temperature better than lukewarm, thankfully we all carry sanitizer with us nowadays. I didn't not see any security or custodians working, but I wasn't scared or disgusted, this rest area is maintained responsibly. I'm sure they were on a break or something, yeah I'm sure that was the case. It was very early morning when I stopped in and found no humans present on the grounds and the multiple vehicles parked across the lot seemed to be the perfect venue for getting a few winks. It's a peaceful place at this hour and I suspect most are taking cat naps before pressing on to their destinations. I found myself yawning as well but not to the point I required an extended break. These rest areas serves the public well and go by different names in different parts of the country some like this one are named Rest Areas others are referred to as Rest Stops, Safety Service Areas and a multitude of other names, no matter what you call them they serve a purpose and probably prevent accidents on the interstates as well as inside the vehicle if you know what I mean...

Don't be put off by the simple décor or the fact that it's attached to a gas station. This place is where you want to pull in for breakfast or lunch. They use Boar's Head meats. That by itself is a big hint that the stuff they create will taste good. Never had anything Boars Head that wasn't good. I ordered the ribeye loaded on a sub roll. The picture I posted looks good, right? Well the sandwich tasted as good as that picture looks! The ribeye may not be Boars Head, but still top notch for the price. Speaking of prices; show me anywhere else you can go get a great big breakfast sandwich or made to order deli sandwich anywhere near here for the great prices they charge. You can't. Great food AND a great price. My wife had a turkey on sourdough and said it too passed the yummy deli sandwich test. The staff was friendly, tables were clean, and the service was fast. Stopped in on a whim, and now will be back on purpose. Can't wait to try their breakfast burritos!

Sometimes you wanna go where everybody knows your name, and they're always glad you came This jingle from "Cheers" sums up exactly how I feel about Ashton's. The greeting, the sincere warmth, and the genuine questions about YOU... it is so easy to love a fashion, but this place is an extension of home. Don't come with expectations, but come with an open heart. You will feel the live in the service and in every bite you eat.
