We were even charged 3x for one room. Not to mention the room key NEVER worked. We had to ask the front desk to help us every single time. I stayed here for one night after visiting my family who became displaced by wildfires. Like many other people who have stayed here, I just needed a basic room with no frills. That's what this is-a basic room. Our room was generously sized which is great. Unfortunately it was filthy and the bathroom had severe damage which was poorly repaired. The toilet seat was damaged and probably needed to be replaced years ago. The worst part about the room is the dirty linens. Nobody wants to sleep in dirty sheets and towel off after a shower with towels that look like they were used to wipe grease off an engine. This motel ranks among the top three worst I've stayed in. There's a concept called the Broken Windows theory which states that visible signs of crime, and civil disorder create an environment that encourages further crime and disorder. This is a great example of this principle in action. The room, which was advertised as non-smoking and had signs everywhere reiterating this policy, had cigarette burns on the bedding, the furniture, toilet, etc. All of this was counter-intuitive to the non-smoking message. This question is for the management: what do you think smokers think when they see cigarette burns everywhere? Do you think it's possible that they think it's ok to repeat this behavior? Omg, surprised Wyndham even puts their name to this place! So beneath them it seems. Granted there weren't any bed bugs( I brought my own sheets just in case), but we did have to switch from 3rd for room to 1st floor room because the bathroom lights and fan did not work (even after repairman tried to fix it). Also, I noticed the toilet lid was up and didn't have that sanitary paper around it to indicate it had been cleaned and there was but one towel for the two of us, and there was no screen door to the patio. After switching rooms, all seemed satisfactory enough. Good water pressure, smelled ok , darker on 1st floor than the natural sunlight on 3rd floor, TV had no instructions and couldn't get it to work, only two towels and no hand/face or bath mat, and the hair dryer didn't work. To top it off, the 'breakfast' was like someone else said, was a joke. Only OJ and waffles and some apples!! Wyndham should be embarrassed to put their name on this place! Against my better judgement I thought this place would be okay-ish enough to crash for the night. No need for a fancy room; just clean and safe. Well. It was neither clean nor safe. Do not under any circumstances stay here if you didn't travel with your own cleaning supplies and slippers. And your own bedding, but honestly just don't stay because the mattress was soiled too (no mattress protector). Filthy surfaces, black mold in the bathroom, soiled and stained bedding. Nasty carpet. I still can't believe I made it the six hours I slept in it. I was dead tired I guess from shooting a wedding. The 120 I paid should have been them paying me. And let's not talk about the amount of homeless situation. This area of oroville is overrun. Although I want to say maybe it's just the entire town? Stay in Chico is my advice. read more

The management of this site is horrendous. Our family was tripled charged for one room, and erroneously charged for another guest's room. Unlike other hotels who run your card when you arrive and put a hold on the anticipated amount of your stay, this place charges you upon arrival AND apparently charges you also when you leave. In addition, the entire hotel smells of cigarette smoke; there was large black mold in the shower of our family member's bathroom; our room keys and/or door locks didn't work; and the air conditioner in one of our party's rooms overheated, started smoking, then set off the smoke detector (no one from the hotel staff came to help or investigate). Could keep shower curtain closed because whoever tried to fix it didn't know what they were doing. 1970's mini fridge that didn't work with a damn. I mean I've gotten colder looks from my wife. Plugs ins wore out to where they wouldn't hold a plug. Whole place smelled like marijuana. Beds and pillows uncomfortable. Breakfast was a step under what they must of gotten off the chuck wagon during cattle drives. We come through here every year and won't be adding this place to our list. Never again. This entire hotel gave me a creepy vibe. Maybe it's the age of the building, or the abandoned dirt lot next to it, or the meth vibe of the surrounding area. The fitness center is so old that I didn't even use it (having a fitness center is one of my deciding factors when looking for a hotel room). The continental breakfast has zero meat products. No eggs, sausage, or bacon. I know this makes me sound spoiled, but I feel if you're going to advertise continental breakfast, you should at least have eggs. The employees are polite, but that doesn't make up for the downsides. The TV is either too loud or too quiet and the remote didn't work well. This hotel is proof that you don't always get what you pay for. I paid for decent room, and I got a horrible room. I wish I had actually looked them up on Yelp before booking because I can honestly say I would have preferred to sleep in my car. I was so tired and shocked that I didn't even think about taking photos. Our room smelled of smoke even though it was. No smoking room. There was red stains on the floor. I think it was blood. My bare feet never touched the floor and luckily my partner had a personal clean towel on him and we used that to put on our pillow that we shared because I didn't want to put my face on it. I wonder what's up with management? The owner? The over all company? What's going on here? This place needs to be completely torn down and rebuild and managed like a real hotel. I'm not sure how this place has 2 stars... If you are in dire need of a place to stay, choose this place as a last resort. I can't begin to explain the filth and seediness of this 'motel'. We only stayed here because we could not find other accommodations, and we were dropping our son off for lineman school in Oroville. The carpet and bathroom floors/walls were disgusting... empty Minute-Made bottle was left under the bed skirt, as well as a bullet casing that had been taken apart with gun powder removed. There were no lightbulbs in the lamps between the beds, and there were no batteries in the TV remote. Our son witnessed someone on a bike get jumped by 3 individuals just outside the parking lot at 11:45 pm. He heard yelling outside and looked out the balcony window to see this happening. The only positive I can say, is the gal at the front desk was very pleasant. She gave us batteries for the remote and an extra towel (because there were only 2 provided, and 3 of us were staying). Stayed last weekend for 2 nights during an impromptu road trip to Lake Oroville. 1) Run-down and worn out 2) Used condom wrapper found by my 8 year old daughter in the bedside table drawer 3) Long hair found on a pillow 4) Lint and other crap on the carpet - does this hotel have a vacuum?? 5) Little mite bug thing found crawling around on the floor in the dust and debris behind the bathroom door 6) Lukewarm hot tub 7) Threadbare and very rough towels 8) Disgusting and unwashed bedspread on both beds, with crusty dried spills and cigarette burn holes 9) The 3rd floor hallway smelled like smoke despite "no smoking" signs everywhere 10) The AC unit was either too cold or not cold enough despite fiddling with it several times during the night The good: friendly and helpful staff, spacious room, free breakfast, my kids enjoyed the pool, and my daughter had fun playing with a stray kitten found on hotel grounds. I like the Comfort Inn for a budget chain, they generally have free parking, free internet, and free breakfast. The Oroville location also has updated bedding (I hate those ugly multicolored bedspreads you find in most budget inns), friendly service, a perfect temperature pool (unheated actually - perfect for the summer weather), an exercise room, and a sauna! Four stars, except the breakfast spread wasn't as good as I remember from other locations. I didn't see any protein (usually there's cheese, peanut butter, or hard boiled eggs). The entire building is a "no-smoking" facility yet it smells like chemically-muffled cigarette filth. The lady at the front desk shadily shredded a document right after I paid for our room. Ah yes, the room. The effervescence of the dollar store cleaning products is one tier away from methamphetamine (shocking for Oroville, I know). There was a nice buffet of pubic hairs interlaced with my WASH CLOTH. Wifi is sh**. The bed is really really really really really really FIRM. The knob in the mini-fridge fell off when I tried to adjust the temperature. Like, I brought my wife and BABY here... (I should be shot).
