I seems like the city of St. Cloud has little or nothing to offer from a cultural perspective, but Helen and Jim certainly worked hard to make me feel welcome. Breakfast was plentiful though more selections would have been nice- I don't do sweets, so the crepes and pancakes option sounds about as appealing to me as chewing rock candy. So instead, they made their second option, an omelet both days with fresh fruit and the BEST homemade plain popovers. I love coffee and tea so much that I often bring my own tea bags. I used them on this trip too because Folgers was their coffee of choice. Also, I am used to a hot tub being a somewhat standard feature. Although the rooms had private baths, both had a smaller shower/tub. One room had a plug in portable fireplace that might have been nice in the winter. The room I chose had a very large and comfortable king-size bed with a walk-out garden balcony that was absolutely stunning! I don't know how they keep the flora and fauna around their property so lovely, but it must be a full time job.

I am the one that has organized it for years. I live in the cities and as you know we have 100's of Inns/hotels very close to my area I thought it would be nice to venture out of the Metro area... I stayed there (in the Paynesville Inn) a few years ago for a family wedding so I thought I'd try it out. Meeting room, pool, pets allowed you had everything we absolutely needed. I called on Friday to confirm a few things and everything was a go.... OMG!! I walked up and big black trash bags sitting outside the lobby doors, I thought that was odd but proceeded. I walked in and I was in disbelief.... What the ...... Plastic covering the furniture in the lobby, plastic covering the stair railings... paper and plastic taped to the floors and carpet... up some walls. Cords and hoses were running all over the lobby and down the halls of the whole place. Did I tell you we had a handicap person with us.... We had the painters taping and re-taping and taping up holes in the floor covering so there would not be an issue, not a real Plastic was up over all room doors... to the meeting/party room. Plastic was up on the ceilings, around the doors, down on the floors. Construction lighting in the hallways. Power/outlets were not working in the party room for our crock pots, we had to tear down some of the plastic off covering the breakfast area so we could warm our dishes. And you are wondering how we had our free continental breakfast if it was covered with plastic??? Easy, breakfast was served in the laundry room. What a joke! I do have to say the staff they are great!! They went out of their way to try to be accommodating to make our event as nice as possible. My complaint is not with the staff there it is with the facilities/management/owners.... What the hell is wrong with you when you have an event coming reserving a dozen rooms, planning a party and do this? Businesses in small communities are having a tough time with the pandemic, and you do this... the whole hotel at once. Idiots!! Why did you not just do one floor at a time.... Oh, that would have made too much sense. Oh, did I mention there was no ice we had to go to the local gas station to get some. Then at check out time after our fancy laundry room continental breakfast... I go to pull my luggage out and I wind up having to lift it over cords and cables and a scaffolding plank that was just laying on the floor... dodging around a set of table and chairs... did I mention my husband is missing some fingers that is why we have/use the pull luggage is just so much easier for us.... Not this last weekend. And then once I go outside; 8-12 big black trash bags with 5-gallon paint (?) bucket Don't worry I am not planning on EVER staying at the Paynesville Inn EVER AGAIN, Social media... it's out there and word of mouth.... Well, what can I say, I do not shut up easily.

We didn't eat there, so, no notes on it. Our room was comp upgraded & we were greeted with a thank you gift bag for status. The room was clean & in good repair. There were ample outlets & the layout worked well. Our room was quiet, the bed was comfortable & we slept soundly til morning. I'd like to see better towels and soft closing toilet lids. The staff that checked is in was energetic, friendly, and welcoming. I 100% would hire him!

I dont know any part of perfect it was for us listening to it run all night, yuck I even took the lid off the toilet at one point to try and get it to stop. Also check out the plastic closure on the bottom side of lid. And the pictures I am attaching are nasty, the film in the handicapped bathroom and you need to use a transportable shower bench, problem is, my fiancé could not take a shower unless he sat on the stupid shower bench as the shower wand would only mount so high up the bar, impossible to stand and shower, very odd. Breakfast was fair, not enough tables/chairs for the guests. Film in the hot tub was pretty sketchy also, tried not to look at it while we were enjoying the heat of the hot tub. Liked that there was a pizza place attached to the hotel, but we went in after concert to get a pizza as we were told they take last orders at 10:30 and close at 11:00 we walked in at 10:10 and the bartender told us he was just about to lock the hotel entrance. But it was only 10:10. Felt a little like we were in the twilight zone staying here. Bed was fair appeared clean but in major need of updates and an elevator even though we were in handicap room on main floor never heard of hotel without elevator. The wall heating unit/fan/AC is probably my biggest complaint, it was very loud and woke us several times throughout the night with its cycling on and off. Also made tv watching difficult due to needing to have the tv volume loud. Cleanliness of room was fair - there was hair behind the bathroom door and the tub had a fixed non-slip pad on the bottom that looked stained/dirty. Bottom of tub felt spongey while standing in the shower. Plenty of hot water and towels. There are plenty of vending options on first floor along with ice machine. I bought a candy bar and was charged $1 extra to my card ($2.65 total), the $1 was credited back on my card 24 hours later. I noticed there is a washer/dryer near the vending area for guest use - a nice perk for those who may need it. Hotel was fairly quiet without a lot of hallway noise or slamming/clicking doors. The pool area is nice with a small pool, a hot tub, shower area, and a billiards table. However, the bottom of the pool looked dirty so we did not use it. Unsure if it was old paint or mildew. The hot tub looked clean, but the state of the pool made us question whether the hot tub was actually clean. We didn't use this area. It could be that the pool needs fresh paint or a good scrub; I believe either (or both) would go a long way. Nobody was in the pool area when we were in there - 7pm on a Saturday night. Staff was friendly and attentive during our entire stay. Breakfast included a surprising variety of options to appeal to many diets. My vegan daughter was even able to eat breakfast - something we didn't expect! She had an English muffin w peanut butter, an orange, and avocado toast! I checked out 24 hours ago and the incidental charge placed on my credit card at check-in has not been refunded yet, I mention this because I know it can be an issue for some travelers.
