My husband's car had under 500 miles on it and had just come from the dealership. There was no scratch on the rear window when the vehicle was brought to the shop, and there was no mention of any existing window damage before the tinting work was performed. When we received the car back, however, there was a large, noticeable scratch on the rear window. We immediately brought the damage to the shop's attention, but we were told that it was impossible for them to have caused it and would not entertain any conversation after. The shop inspected the vehicle before beginning the work. If there had been a large scratch on the window beforehand, we would expect it to have been documented or brought to our attention, as is standard practice with many automotive service businesses. What is most disappointing is that the shop is refusing to take responsibility or even acknowledge the possibility that the damage occurred while the vehicle was in their possession. I will be reporting this matter to the California Bureau of Automotive Repair (BAR), which accepts complaints involving automotive repair businesses, including issues related to window-tint installation. I am also obtaining an appraisal of the damage and will be reaching out to the shop regarding the cost of repair. This situation is unacceptable, and I hope the shop will reconsider how it is handling this matter. For anyone having work done on their vehicle: please take clear photos and videos of all your windows before leaving your car at any shop. Pretty expensive for decent quality. I got 2 front windows and windshield done there. 1st time rolling the windows down I noticed the quality of work wasn't there. Tints were uneven close to the edge. For the price, it wasn't worth it. Returned to get it done over again. 3 days later, rolled the windows down and there's still gaps in certain areas. If you're going to get the cheap tint and don't really care about quality of work being done on your car, go for it. If you're lookin for quality craftsmanship, go spend your money elsewhere, or you'll be wasting unnecessary time here. read more

We recommend against having your vehicle tinted at this particular establishment. We regret to inform you that after having our car tinted there in June 2025, we have had to return five times to address issues with the back window tint. During our sixth visit, the manager was unwilling to provide a refund, remove the existing bubbling tint, or replace our window. Our main concern was the scratching of our window and damage to the defrost lines. Their service did not reflect the name "Super Friendly Tinters" , I believe its now call Jet Black. I had a really disappointing experience with Jet Black Tinters / Friendly tint, and unfortunately cannot recommend them. I originally called and scheduled an appointment for 3:00 PM at their Tracy location. I was already dealing with traffic because the area is under construction, and then I was told I needed to drive to their Pittsburg location instead, which was an additional hour and some change away. I still went because I was told I would be seen at 3:00. When I arrived, I was informed that there was a "misunderstanding" due to their call center being overseas (possibly in Jordan) and that they could not honor what I was told. I was then given a few options, none of which were reasonable after driving so far. The pricing was also confusing and kept changing. I was quoted a $99 special for the five back windows, but then told the small front windows ("little slats") were an additional $40 each. Because I drive a Prius, that meant another $80 which would have brought me to $259. Then I was told I could pay $179 today, but that would not include the small front windows, which would look unfinished and strange. On top of that, I was told I wouldn't actually be seen until around 7:30-8:00 PM, despite having a 3:00 PM appointment. Another option was to come back another day and they would "throw in" the small windows for free, but that meant driving another hour and some change again after already wasting my time today. What made this worse was the tone. He was nice nasty , the attitude felt passive-aggressive and dismissive. He said that there was not a better place that I can go get it tinted at which is not true. I found a place in my area that was more reasonably priced than 259 for all of my windows so I'm gonna go with them, however, When I said this situation really sucked after driving all that way, he responded by saying it could be worse and mentioned places like Somalia and Venezuela. That was completely irrelevant and extremely minimizing. It made me feel like my time, frustration, and effort didn't matter. I was essentially told: * Wait several more hours and still not get a complete tint unless I paid extra, or * Leave and come back another day, after already driving over an hour for nothing. Either way, I walked away with no service and a wasted day. Being told how "good of a deal" this was while I wasn't receiving any service at all was insulting. Bottom line: I drove over an hour based on an appointment that was not honored. The pricing was unclear, the scheduling was unreliable, and the response to my frustration was dismissive and inappropriate. Not happy. Not serviced. My car is still not tinted. I will not be returning and do not recommend this business. read more

I got the premium tint on my new 2026 car in July. For sure, I will recommend this place to others. When I first called for the tint the base price special was around $100 when I arrived at the shop Ed Talked about all the options from the base level up to the premium level and he also had the heat test in his office which I was able to identify based on what kind of tint I should go with. Ed Provided all the options did not force which one to buy and explained everything in detail. I ended up getting the premium which costed more but it was worthwhile decision for the new car. I made an appointment with Jet Black and was notified this was a third party. However, I met with Ed and he was very welcoming and explained the type of tints. Ed is the type of person to get to know you and why you want certain tints for your car. He wasn't just all about business. He wanted to take care of his customers and wanted what's best for his customers. I appreciated his help and suggestions that made me decide what tints were best for my vehicle. I chose the platinum tint and they really help with the heat. The tint prevents the car from absorbing so much heat! I never write reviews, but was compelled to due to Ed's professional and friendly service. I'd give 6-stars if I could. We initially had a rough experience with a tint job on my son's car that had significant bubbling on the rear window, but Ed turned the entire situation around. Don't know who ran that place before mid-Jan 2026 - but Ed got things running like a well-oiled machine now. I see their 3.2 star rating and it's a shame, because someone (perhaps many people) in the future - won't do business with them because of things that happened in the past that have been rectified today. This is my small part to move the needle back up since they're clearly committed to improvement in customer satisfaction. When I do business, I look for three specific considerations, Price, Service, and Quality, and Ed earned all 3: Service: Ed is a true professional who explicitly "parks his ego" and meets the customer where they are,. He listened to our concerns regarding the "janky" work from a previous visit and treated us with respect. He even offered to come in at 8:00 AM, an hour before his staff, to personally handle the labor-intensive work of steaming off the old tint. Quality: Ed has a keen eye for detail. He inspected the car and acknowledged that while some minor dust is standard in a garage, the bubbling on the back windshield was excessive and needed to be redone. He made sure the new job was done right. Price: He stood by the company's warranty and "made it right" without giving us the runaround or charging us extra to fix the previous mistakes. Ed told us he was sent from the Redwood City branch specifically to clean this shop up and take it to the next level,. He has definitely done that. I wish I read the reviews first before dealing with this tint store. This place is a joke. Bad customer service. Initially, I was told 2-3 hours. It took 6 hours! I was there 11:15 and it was already 5:30 pm, still not done. I said it's done or not , I want my car. I was told by the other worker, the guy who was working my car was still on training. smh! The long haired guy is arrogant! I think he is the manager. He kept giving me excuses! And, while I was waiting, the truck who left about 15 mins ago, came back. He told me while driving in the freeway the rear tint fell off! If something happed to my tint, I will never comeback here, even with 3 year warranty, I will just "eat", the $200 I paid, I will go somewhere who will treat me fairly and honest. It's not worthy to be frustrated/aggravated again. it was Jet Black advertised for $99 for 5 windows, since I have 2 rear side quarter panel window, it's $40 extra each for the 2 front windows he said. I got quotes from 1 call center operator for Super Friendly Tint & later got a 2nd operator. The 2nd person quoted different quotes on SFT & added quotes 4 Jet Black Tint. The 2nd operator was rude, unprofessional, misquoted the length of SFT warrantee, prices on the eyestrip, moonroof, etc. When I said her quotes were different from 15 min earlier & asked 4 her mgr, she said, "it's CLASSIFIED". I had to chuckle in shock because imagine a problem at a fastfood, or any business & reaching a mgr is forbidden?! I asserted this was unacceptable & she (Kath) talked in circles & eventually hung up on me. Later, Desiree (mgr) calls & offers an eyestrip 4 free but only on my car. Problem: I was bringing in 2 cars & the other (my friend) wanted an eyestrip, I did not. She made it seem as she would consider what else I wanted once I settled on a date. She gave me 3 wks. 9 days later, I call, ready. Tried 2 reach her 4 couple hrs, but couldn't. Her cover 4 the day, Dominic, said he would try 2 have her contact me right away, that night, or 1st thing in the morning. In the meantime, my friend, who is here solely to care for me post my cancer surgery, has 2 return 2 Oregon, so we bring in her car. I ask the shop reach Desiree, no luck. They offered to do my friend's eyestrip free, but I thought 2 wait 4 Desiree as I now decided on a higher cost tint, etc. They do my friends car. Bubbles, they say, are to be expected 4 days to 3 weeks (ok), but there are jagged edges on her eyestrip (not cool). ...I get no call from Desiree that afternoon, that evening, or the next morning as promised. I have appts on Fri so I move on. Desiree finally reaches out Fri late afternoon when I'm in an appt & by the time I see the text, it's too late 2 drop everything & race out to Pittsburg SFT. [Keep in mind Thurs they said they close about 5/6 (Google says 7p), they only took my friend's car that afternoon cuz she had a smaller job to do, when they were done they called us multiple times to hurry & get the car cuz they were closed, we rushed back from Walnut Creek to a closed shop at 530p & one staff standing outside holding out the key, hopping in his ride, & taking off before we could even get into the car they worked on! So imagine that when Desiree reaches out to me late afternoon Friday, I don't want another rushed experience like we had on Thurs cuz they want to close early. Or I don't want them to decline to do my car because it would take them too long, & they'd actually have to stay until their listed closing time 7p- God forbid]. Nonetheless, I respond, & ask her for at least a refund on my friends eyestrip (she offered a free eyestrip). She then doesn't respond til 32 hr later on Saturday night, by text, at NEARLY MIDNIGHT??? What professional mgr texts a customer at that hour? So, she says she will not do the $65 refund and was only offering the eyestrip for my car. Yet she KNEW I did not want an eyestrip, & I was only interested in a higher cost tint than their base deal, 7 windows, moonroof, & full windshield, (a much bigger job) as we discussed this 9 days prior. And 2 me, when your business has missed quoted prices, been unprofessional/rude, hung up on you, lied & said contacting mgmt is classified (lowkey hilarious, Lol), not been available when you call but yet you tell them to call when we/I am ready?, & contact people near midnight...your fix is to offer a service that a person never wanted? And when the customer is sending business your way & their friend is willing to give you business & take that free eyestrip, you say, "No, wrong car?" This place, in my opinion, is a joke. They do not want to please the customer or make things right. They don't even want a good customer who is spending above the initial plan. We shall see how this window tint and jagged edge eyestrip holds up on my friend's car but I'd say the drama, disrespect, & unprofessionalism is not worth the low prices 4 the base tint that they offer. *2 stars cuz the salesman at Pittsburg was a nice guy. Incase anyone wants 2 know, I ended up calling a window replacement/tint business I had talked 2 a year previous & he no longer does tint but referred me 2 his brother who moved the tint business next door. Brother was KIND, accommodating, professional, had a great looking shop, with a gorgeous waiting area, and he offered that I could use his office for my late afternoon appt so I had privacy (I didn't, but how kind). We all have a choice where we do business. I paid a bit more than I wanted but was given a higher quality than I even was going to get at SFT (2 levels higher than their base deal), & my tinter (T) gave me a massive discount (near half price cuz I had dealt with his brother a year previous). Shady business practices--beware. I was quoted $129 by Jet Black Tint for five windows, with an estimated time of 2-3 hours. When I showed up, the manager or owner immediately added $40 per small window, which wasn't mentioned in the original quote. He then asked if my car already had tint. I said yes, since most cars do, and suddenly I was told it would be $50 per window to remove the old tint and $150 to remove the rear window tint. He also informed me it would now take 5-6 hours because a worker didn't show up. The price jumped from $129 to $560 for a 2008 Toyota Prius, which I use as a commuter vehicle for my job as a home health nurse. At this point, tints are a necessity, not just an aesthetic choice. The sudden price increase felt like a clear bait-and-switch, so I canceled the appointment. I later removed the existing tint myself, and one window took about 17 seconds. Charging $50 for something that quick, while only charging $40 to install new tint that requires more time and materials, makes no sense. It felt like an attempt to take advantage of me as a woman, even though I wasn't alone when I came in. This business is misleading and overpriced. I've had my past cars done with JetBlack Tint, and I guess they acquired Super Friendly Tinters. This experience just left a sour taste in my mouth. The first time I brought my new car here, they had to redo my rear window, took an extra 3 hours. No problem. It took me a week to get a hold of them to ask for warranty work on said rear window. There was debris in between the film and glass. I made an appointment, I was told 3.5 hours to get the rear window done. I think that is a little riduculous, but he said the size of my rear window and accessibility makes it a little harder. I come after 4 hours, they tell me it's going to take another 20min. My brother in law drops me off and I wait another hour for my car to be done. There is nothing in the area, 1/2 mile walk in either direction to find a corner store or Starbucks. Now I'm late for to pick up my wife and meet up with family. These guys are cool to work with, but I'm not bringing my car back here. read more
