Looking for breakfast in Edinburgh and we found this gem…read more It was a short walk from the hotel and even though the hotel had breakfast we were not impressed with it so decided to venture out. The Edinburgh Larder was the answer. We arrived right at opening. We were seated immediately and the place is casual clean and welcoming. The service was excellent and I got the traditional Scottish breakfast. Haggis and all and it was excellent, filing and worth walking in the light mist. The Mushroom Toast was very tasty according to my wife. The place is small and part of the larger establishment next door but still the same great food. You want authentic Scottish breakfast hot up the Edinburgh Larder and you will not be disappointed!

Once one area is full they will sit u to the other area! I was sitting right by the window and it was lovely. The decor is cozy and homie! The server is very friendly and I ordered full Scottish breakfast to try out everything and chai latte. It came fairly fast and it was a very full dish. I tried all the food and they are all yummy. The blood pudding is not quite my favorite. And the bean with the red sauce is a little too spicy for me. But overall it is very good. Chai latte is super yummy and not overly sweet!

Don't miss this gem. The people who worked there were some of the most engaging and friendly people…read moreI have met. Truly great people, and not just one of them, all 3. It's the kind of place you feel like there is a positive vibe both from a service perspective and from an employment perspective that pervades the essence of the service. But also, these were just lovely people. The food was phenomenal. I had the hot italian panini toasted and my daughter had the millionaires shortbread (which means covered in caramel and chocolate!) Both were terrific. The sandwich was hot, both in temperature and spice levels, with a great texture, an herby pesto, gooey cheese, and delicious hot peppers. I was convinced to give the Irn Brew a shot. "As Scottish as haggis!" he said. I'm not sure I loved the Scottish soda but I was glad for the adventure and the Scottish experience! In an area popular with tourists there are often many places where the service is not amazing because they know you may never come back and their employers are focused on churning as many people through as possible. In those places it often seems more time is spent on the descriptions of the food and advertising than the food and experience itself. Or, there are chains, like the Starbucks literally right there. This was not the case. This place was special. The food and the people compete for excellence (although the people win in my opinion!) If you miss this, you are missing out. We are leaving the early tomorrow and I want to try and get there for breakfast! Just terrific.

Fortunately, my wife could grab a salad box that was gluten free at Global Deli (or known as the Deli Global if the sign is any indication) and I grabbed a bacon roll and a haggis roll. Overall, it was good for what we needed to have on the go. It took a few minutes for my rolls to get done. The bacon roll was good, which worked well with the thickness of the roll. The haggis roll didn't feel as voluminous enough where you tasted more of the bread than the haggis. The millionaire bar was very good and held up well on the train ride back to London.

The menu looks quite tempting having paninis, wraps, sandwiches.... My wife ordered a wrap [ Mexican Hot Wrap], and I saw their soup of the day [Leek Potato Soup] on the menu and it looked quite tempting. I asked can I taste it before I ordered. And they agreed... It was yummy, it was a sweet potato soup with a dash of black pepper. The wrap was crunchy, it was grilled superbly with tasty filling.. and so was soup... Cool, cozy place, good food and warm owners.... 4/5 PS: They charge 50/70 pence extra for dine-in arrangements, that's fine though.

Scotland's weather is basically all season daily. You never know what you'll get...lol... Of course the rain started and we happened to be right here. Just to get warm as well, this place seemed very cozy. Inside you feel the warm homey cottage feel. Fresh baked cakes, smell of coffee and tea. They also serve food as well. There's the main dining area along the entrance with the cakes on full display for everyone to see. A small room in the back as well as a loft and downstairs. Of course restrooms are downstairs. All the staff were amazing and very friendly. All so welcoming. The cakes were amazing and paired very well with a coffee or tea. I'm not sure if it's baked in house but the selections they offered, it was amazing. So many too chose from. It's not a crazy big place but the warm cozy feeling right when you walk in was amazing. Friendly smile and anything with fresh baked goods will bring people in.

I came in for a coffee and (read: redeeming quality, I swear I am a good person) paid for a few extra coffees to pay it forward. Gosh I love the concept. But the coffee was just AWFUL. I knew it the second the cup of burnt milk touched my hands and I couldn't hold it for longer than a few seconds without swapping hands. It was unbearable and I won't live my life drinking bad coffee. I went around the corner and threw it in the bin. Its a fantastic concept really, but the coffee needs to be at least halfway decent. Nobody deserves to drink what I had in my burnt little hands. I'm willing to give it another try, but I struggle to to believe one can bounce back from that- it wasn't an off day, it was an awful coffee.

I have been here twice now, and the food has been great. The first time I had a chicken curry that was the special of the day. It was a big portion size and I probably wouldn't have complained if it was bigger since it tasted so good. Most recently I took advantage of their lunch deal: soup + sandwich or wrap + piece of fruit for only 4.95. My chicken fajita wrap was tasty, but I most enjoyed the carrot and orange soup... so good.
