I went in at the end of August for a trim. I had been in several weeks before. The next thing I know the moron is shaving the right side of my head with an electric razor! I demanded that she stop and she asked if I wanted to leave - yeah!! Another woman stepped in and completed the cut. It was awful. Bangs on one side were cut shorter than on the other side. Truly a hit or miss spot and depends on who you get. I got an excellent haircut in October 2022 from a woman (I think her name was Chi?). Then went back yday (May 25) for another cut, which unfortunately ended up being pretty bad unfortunately. I didn't feel like dealing with the hassle of complaining and getting it fixed right then, so I just paid and left, and then fixed it myself when I got home. I don't want to bash the entire facility because the stylist I had in October 2022 did a fantastic job. And I won't say who cut my hair yesterday because she's a nice lady and I'm sure she has done a great job with others; I just didn't personally like the cut that she gave me and wish I had spoken up more and more adamant about what I did and more importantly, did NOT want. My vague "just a cut a maybe a few layers" unfortunately translated to some pretty wild layers and bangs (I hate having bangs). TL;DR: some stylists there are great, others maybe not. I have been going here for years. This is the best place for quick and affordable hair cuts. $18.95 gives you a haircut with no frills like shampoo and blow-dry. They come with an additional cost. Please note that the price list changes on occasion and you may want to clarify what you're paying for as you do add-ons. They have a $35 special of hair wash and blow-dry and style and you would have just have to add on the haircut. But if you are somebody who constantly runs around, goes to the gym, it's practical just to get a simple haircut then you're in and out of there. I love my hairdresser and the only reason why I'm not saying who she is is because I don't want everybody to book her because she is the most busy person there and I can't blame her popularity. read more

Brought my 16 year old daughter there to get her curly hair blown out straight before she was dropped off for a 2 week pre-college program. Decided to get her haircut too since it was basically the same price as a blowout. After they washed her hair they told her they couldn't blow it dry because they were short staffed. Even though they heard us discussing the blowdry and that being specifically why we were there. And the haircut was terrible, the girl didn't know what layers were. One of the worst salons I've been to around Boston. I walked in and put in my name, and she asked for my phone number and asked me to wait outside so that they can call me. 1 HOUR later I go in to see why it's taking so long, they tell me they called me but I didn't pick up. When I received no call. Then they continued to let other people go in front of me. Some of the worst customer service I've experienced. If all of that wasn't enough, my haircut was rushed and off. I don't think I have to pay $20 for a buzz cut. I even showed a picture of what I was hoping the hair cut would look like afterword, and she didn't even come close. Just buzz buzz oop you're done. Try not to mind the fact that everyone can see your scalp on the nearly bald spot on the back of your head. Don't go here. Don't go to the one on Mass Ave in Cambridge either. The hairstylist completely ignored his simple request (just a trim, keep the shape) and instead just decided to do whatever style she wanted. Do not bother making a reservation, they will take whoever was waiting the longest... which is usually 30-60 minute wait time. I've probably gone to this place 10 times now and never once have I walked in and their was a hairdresser ready for me. This should not be the case if I reserve in advance or what's the point of pretending I'll be getting my hair cut at that time? I have to wait for everyone else who has shown up without a reservation as we try and remember who came in first to decide who's next because the hairdressers obviously aren't keeping tabs of who walked in last. This isn't necessarily the hairdressers fault, but Supercuts policy. Many times they walk up to us and ask "who's next?" You as an employee should know who is next and Supercuts needs to update their way of business. In fact, the only reason I've made this review so long is because I literally have nothing else to do as I've been sitting on this bench for the past 30 minutes. I'd also say about half of the customers waiting once I first walk in the doors quickly realize the situation and leave after waiting for about 20 or so minutes. The way to fix this simple issue would be turning down all customers who did not make a reservation if there are already people waiting their turn in the lobby, but it seems no employees are trained to do this, or Supercuts has decided to not to enforce any sort of rules whatsoever. I wish I didn't have to keep coming here, but it's the only place near me. The hairdressers are always very nice and respectful, it's just the policy that needs changing. read more

I have been working everyday for almost a month. I needed a haircut and decided to go this location before I went to work. This was Sunday May 12th. I regret going there. I told the stylist I wanted to keep the length and fade the sides. I comb my hair to the side with pomade. She cut almost half of the hair off. The fade a mess. The sides close the top are sticking out and to add insult to injury the cut on my hair is uneven. I didn't say anything because I was upset and needed to get to my store. I bought a Crew pomade so I could comb it. I wish I could get a refund and a new cut to fix this mess. I was trying to find a real barber on Monday before work to fix it but they were booked. I am willing to pay extra money to someone else to fix what a stylist messed up. I will never return to this location and recommend anyone that decides to go here to proceed with caution. Edited review 3 days later: Both the manager of the location Mia and Lisa, the woman who oversees it, were very helpful and took the issue very seriously and professionally. I was contacted the day of and given a date to come in, I came in a few days later and Mia fixed up the cut really well. It's still much shorter than I wanted, but due to the errors with the previous haircut it was the best option, I'm mostly happy now because the cut looks intentional and not choppy/disproportionate. Mia is a very nice woman who treats hair with care, she's friendly and I've seen her before and the way she interacts with all her clients is A+ material. My advice is that unless you're a guy with more traditional short haircuts who just wants some clipper work and minimal scissor cutting, you're probably fine with whoever. When I originally walked in I had considerably more hair on my head which I understand can be kind of challenging to work with, but the previous person who cut my hair demonstrated that they had no idea how to approach the situation properly and did a lot of damage. If you're not a guy with short hair who usually uses mostly clippers, either see Mia or try to find a haircutter here who knows what they're doing and stick to them. I gambled by just going in and I ended up with a cut that was a lot shorter than I intended, granted at least now it looks like a solid cut. Previous review: Absolutely horrible haircut from Lucia, or whoever the older white woman is. I specifically asked for shorter on the sides, longer in the front and it's like she did the exact opposite. The front is way too short, the sides are somehow longer, she barely cut anything off the back and it looks terrible and sloppy. My instructions were very simple and easy to understand, and it almost felt like she decided to do the exact opposite of what I asked out of spite. Why ask the customer what they want if you're just going to butcher their hair anyways? The entire haircut she was unfriendly, impatient, and excessively rough and sloppy with her cutting. I am extremely displeased with this haircut and will never return to this location again. This is a shame because I got my haircut here a month ago by an Asian man and it was a fantastic haircut, I recognize that not all of the haircutters here suck. At the end she had the audacity to ask for a tip and I gave one just to be polite, but I would never willfully tip such a horrible hair cutter without being awkwardly asked. Once I got home I actually had to go in and trim a part of it that was comically longer than everything else; and the two sides are still uneven. After months of getting $45 hair cuts at a barber shop, I decided it wasn't worth the money given that I have a pretty basic hair style (2 on the sides, a little bit longer on top). I went at 11 AM on a Tuesday and there were only 2 people working there, but only one was occupied so I sat down right away. I told her exactly what I wanted and she executed exactly what I asked for. Nothing fancy but it got the job done. We made a little small talk which passed the time as well. I've been meaning to do this for a while. Around September of last year I walked into Supercuts with low expectations and a in a general state of the opposite of well - being. I was helped quite quickly, within 10 - 15 minutes of walking through the door, someone was cutting my hair. The woman who cut my hair was named Joyce. She is also a Muscular Therapist (massage therapist) so she knew what she was doing. Right off the bat she read my mind as to what kind of hair style I needed, I think she called it "just a regular normal modern man haircut" or something (I'll go into further detail in a minute) - she then went on to complement my facial features and said I could be modern and handsome if I wanted to. The haircut she gave me was perfect. It was in the style of the popular trend right now of shaving more off the sides while keeping the the top but she did in such a way that it was totally appropriate and fitting to the type of face I have. It was undoubtedly the finest haircut I have ever received. If you decide to get a haircut here, ask for Joyce. She is an older woman with a very kind smile. read more

I've been going here for almost a year, though my haircuts are gapped far and wide; I had the opportunity to get Toka and have stuck with her since. She's wonderfully attentive, friendly and genuinely skilled at her craft. Her conversation is genuine and warm and she listens when you actually explain what you're looking for. Her suggestions and handling with my hair is fantastic as I have thick middle eastern curly hair; its not easy to manage! Location is crazy busy and the prices are insanely reasonable considering it's in Back Bay. Come with an open mind and remember you don't need a $100 haircut to get what you want. read more

I ask if they're still open. The guy looked at the clock & rolled his eyes. I smiled & said... I'll come back another day... If you don't mind looking like a fool this place is tolerable. Experience: Sometimes I think these people are blind or "challenged". The first time I came here I actually got a refund. I made the mistake of having the girl cut my bangs. Let me preface with I'm Asian and any mistake to my bangs makes it look like I just came off the boat. Some girls can pull it off, but I certainly cannot. Even after yelling at her to stop cutting she continued. The second time I went back was less terrifying. You might wonder why I went back. I have a poor memory and I refuse to pay $30 for a trim a street over on Newbury. I learned not to let them touch my bangs, but the second time the girl changed my part to trim my hair. She said that was the only way she knows how to cut it. So when I changed the part back to how I normally wear it it looked ridiculous. Overall: Will I go back? Probably since I don't believe in spending a lot of money on my hair. If you do decide to come, be insistent on how it's done and pay attention, because they're not paying attention. read more

I absolutely LOVE Louise at this particular Supercuts location. She gives a tailored haircut and is mindful of all of your requests. However, I'm not so sure about the others. I made the mistake of going on a day when Louise was not there (it was out of desperation-I had an interview coming up!). I won't name the person who cut my hair, but she basically tilted my head violently and buzzed the sides of my head with a number 3 clipper when I asked for a number 5, making the hair SIGNIFICANTLY shorter. She was chatting with her co-worker the entire time she was cutting my hair and clearly missed all of the details I was telling her. My ears stuck out like satellite dishes and I was not completely confident during my interview, but it did go well :) In any case, I do continue to go to this Supercuts, even though it is out of my way, just for Louise. She understands my weird cow licks and knows how to tame and cut my thick hair! read more

I am terrified of haircuts. My boyfriend comes to this Supercuts often, and I was in desperate need of a haircut (it had been over a year... seriously). My hair was, at its longest point, down to my waist, and I was tired of the curly knots that would develop throughout the day. I wish I remember the woman who cut my hair, but she was a small Asian lady with a blue poof, and she worked magic. I told her I just wanted to dead ends off... and at first I was upset when I saw that she had disregarded what I had said and lobbed off my virtually-waist-length hair. It was up to my collarbone, and I would be lying if I said I didn't panic. I have had many a bad haircut, and I thought that this was going to be one of them. Then all of a sudden, my hair came back to life. There was a spring to the curls that hadn't been there for a long time, which was very exciting. She blow dried my hair out, and it still looks great. Also, I needed something really cheap, since I'm trying to restrain myself from spending too much for my summer vacation. Anyways, I DID NOT feel like I was at a Supercuts at all. She gave me so many tips on how to take care of my hair, and suggested what I should do to it, and walked me through with everything she was about to do to my head full of hair.
