The salon itself is really beautiful. Big open space, decorated with just enough panache to be interesting, not so much you are rolling your eyes - Goldilocks perfect. The stations are open and make the most of the space - which is quite large. Excellent natural light from the windows covering half of the wall space, so it feels even more open and welcoming. They keep it really clean, which is really nice for a salon. The bathrooms are spotless, and the rest of the place looks first client-fresh all day. My hairdresser, Laurie - who I recommend wholeheartedly - is so happy there. She's been at a number of salons in the city and she feels completely at home here. So - a moment just for Laurie - she is amazing. Seriously knows her stuff, but will do whatever you want. You know how some hairdressers listen to what you want with your very own hair an then do something totally different? I hate that SO MUCH! Laurie is so not like that - she talks to you before she does anything, makes sure she knows what you want and discusses the entire process with you before she starts. On top of that, if you aren't really certain what you want, she will make all kinds of awesome suggestions and it is in your best interests to listen to her. She really does know her stuff. Plus - she is just really nice and fun to talk to - pretty important in a hair dresser! Regarding the review written by Sara P: Kayla was all about Groupon and Living Social, and that seemed to be going well, but she had a family emergency and actually moved back home to another state to help her family. Living Social is supposed to be handling refunds, but the other hairdressers at Shear Brilliance would be happy to provide you with the service you requested. I understand you were frustrated, but leaving a 1-star review for an entire business, composed of multiple independent contractors, based on your limited interactions with one person, especially now that you know the extreme circumstances - well, it's just not fair. Anyway - I truly love Shear Brilliance and support them wholeheartedly. They are a wonderful group of people, doing a job they love in a place they created together, and it's just plain fun to go there. Please give it a try - Laurie is the best, but all of them are worth your time and money.
