Anyway, I came here because I recalled coming to this location way back over 10 years ago to get a haircut due to a special and it was close to the house. They had good reviews and availability when I did. I had Ari lop off a good chunk of hair, about 10" to donate. Then she styled it based on my request which was something like a lob that I could put up as needed and was easy to style. I have a lot of volume and wavy/curly hair that has changed texture with pregnancy. She thinned it out some, cut it wonderfully, and I feel so much lighter! I never want to wash my hair after getting it cut because I don't put the effort into drying this mane of mine, but I suppose day 3 of a cut and wash I should probably go ahead and wash it myself. When I decide to cut my hair again I'll probably head back here if I don't do it myself. ;)

So no, this review doesn't concern any complicated, modern styling job, but as far as the basics go, we'll be back again. A couple notes. First, this used to be an Aveda salon, but that's no longer the case. (As a Minnesota native who grew up with the Aveda brand, I'll note I'm a big fan, and I never buy their product anymore, it's super pricey and I can make my own organic pomade, thanks very much.) They're carrying a new product line and I'm betting that'll save you plenty; our kid's cut was $25, just perfect, and well worth it. Second, great customer service. We called and had an appointment with one of their more experienced stylists less than two hours later; they were friendly at the front desk, accommodating -- they let her grandmother watch the entire cut, nerve wracking? nah! -- and we all complimented the final look. The woman who was working with me said she would leave the color on for 15 minutes. She never checked my hair, and came back in 25 minutes. It was definitely over processed. My hair was very stretchy. I have had to use toner shampoo once a week just to be able to comb it out. Now that's it's been 2 months, I have so much hair standing up on the top of my head where the hair broke off. Not happy!!

I showed her how dark my hair was on the side and she said that's where my hair was growing in. It looks waxy which means my hair is damaged. It's lighter in one section and darker in the back and middle. I just got it dyed on Tuesday. My hair was blonde because she used a 10 and should've used a 20 or higher. She washed it the dye before 30 -45 minutes. I guess she didn't know what she was doing. When she did the color correction, she had to consult Crystal for the color. Kristina tried to wash the color out again after 10, 15 minutes. I can't believe the owner ignored the issue after seeing it messed up. I think she ignored it because Kristina had a client in her chair. I wouldn't trust her to do anything. She doesn't do a good job. She didn't cut my hair good either. I think her pictures are stock photos or she can't work with African American hair like she said she could.

I sent a picture beforehand of a 20s era hairdo I wanted, but I was open to some artistic liberties. It included finger waves and necessitated my long hair being gracefully tucked under in the back. The style I ended up with wasn't what I was aiming for, but it was absolutely gorgeous nonetheless. I got sooooooo many compliments on it. It was very artfully done, with meticulous detail (and required an enormous quantity of Bobby pins!). She perfectly sculpted my blond highlights gorgeously against my dark hair and set it firmly in place. And that b!tch stayed put aaaaaaaall day n night, from 11am to 2am. I'm pretty sure I could've woken the next morning still fabulous if I'd wanted to. Her prices were perfectly reasonable too, better in fact than many others... $45.

I found this place via yelp, was able to make an appointment with Angela for the next morning. The owner & nail tech, Angela was so friendly and gave me a great manicure. I wanted something with lace detailing, and she showed me a few options and I ended up choosing a stamp. She took her time, and I ended up loving the results. The pricing was great too, same as the Asian nail places, but better quality in my opinion. $19 for manicure, extra 5 for nail art. Aside from a nice looking manicure, I wanted to find a place that actually cleaned their equipment so I wouldn't be afraid of getting a nail fungus. The owner explained that she purchased a machine to sterilize the equipment, going above the basic disinfecting laws in place. The shop itself is small, only 2 hair stylists, and 1 nail tech, but nothing is lacking. I enjoyed the coziness of it. I expected the place to be decorated Indian because of the name "TAJ", but it wasn't! The owner explained that it was her & her 2 daughters initials. I don't get my nails done too often, but when I do, this is where I will go!
