The boss did the quoting, visit and evaluation in the beginning, then left one guy finishing the job without showing up until payment time. Problems and response from the boss: 1) There was a large stain mark left in the dinner room because a fridge was not moved out. But the mark would stay was not communicated before hand. Being a homeowner, how would you know? The guy did the job on site say "it won't be a problem." Response: When showing him this issue at the final inspection, the boss said he could not fix it without refinish the entire room, of course I have to pay again, which I agreed later on. But he just stopped responding my calls and texts. 2) the areas bridging from room to another room were not even, both from hardwood to hardwood, and hardwood to tiles. Response: those could not be fixed because the pieces of wood bridging different areas were clued down. Later on I learned that, it could be done, but just was going to labor intense. But why they didn't make those piece even to begin with? 3) stain splashes on walls and base board Response: the boss said, in the quotation, I already told you we are not responsible for those issues. Conclusion: I've not listed all issues, but just the major ones. I will NOT recommend such an irresponsible company, especially for them not responding to fix the issue even I agreed to pay more.

He was very meticulous with the repairs and the painting. Ceiling looks great and there was very little clean up we needed to do after he left. The tiles were installed poorly and are crooked. The curb for the shower doesn't slant properly, allowing water to leak out. They scratched the expensive bidet toilet. They didn't install the faucets in the sink properly. There are chips in the tile because they didn't take the spacers out quickly enough. They were late. They left garbage in my garage for weeks. They didn't measure things correctly. Awful experience. I had to be there every minute to supervise or they would have done even more wrong. They were going to use a toxic substance to clean the grout off the tiles after leaving it on for weeks. I had to call the store, the manufacturers of the grout and what they wanted to use, and finally to TELL THEM what they needed to get. Not my job! Don't use them.

Kenmark is the only one I felt the solution is reasonable and I have confident they can fix that. Then I hired them for the work. So far, everything is good. It has been couple rains, but hasn't leaked yet. So I also offered another project to them, rebuild my balcony. Everything looks good, my neighbor also wants to hire them to rebuild the balcony. I will not hesitate to recommend Kenmark to my friends.

Recently contacted this service to have a shower door installed in our home. This was a brand new…read moreshower so all that needed to happen was the install of the shower we bought. Full disclosure in that the door we got was a bit to large for the shower and in the space we have it would have opened just about 1/2 way before hitting the toilet .. ken did point this out . We were clear that we wanted him to still use this door and this was something we could figure out in the future for bathroom layout. It took ken 7 hours and in that time he managed to ONLY get the frame of the door on. Red flags immediately were him asking for masking tape, shop vac and lastly CRAZY GLUE ... several hours into the project it was very clear he was struggling with this job. The banging, dropping of pieces and literal hammering (nothing in this job should have been hammered) went on and on. He ended up calling us down to say our door was cheap junk. He tried to crazy glue the pivot pin to keep it in place. He ended up breaking pieces of glass off the bottom of the door (found shards all over the bathroom floor), put big scratch on our regular wood bathroom door, scratched a brand new shower head. Told us we should return the shower door. How is this going to happen when he's cut the frame, put caulk on pieces (I found caulk all over and even on a chair outside the shower area), broken the glass on the bottom edge from likely repeated dropping of the door?! He came up from the basement wet from apparently turning the shower on himself. I can't even imagine how he did that. He had to be told no less than 5 times by my husband that he was "done here" as he kept saying he wanted to come back and "finish" the job. I wouldn't let him come into My house again for any level of job!!! Be very very careful about what you are hiring him for!!!

It started great when we stopped in & spoke with Tony about redoing our kitchen floor. Picked out what we wanted & scheduled for Tony to come out 2 days later to measure & provide an estimate. The estimate was emailed to us by the end of the day. The price was a little higher than another we received, but like others, got a good feeling from Tony so we accepted it and paid 1/2 for the deposit. Told the remaining amount was due when the job was completed. This is when things began to unravel... Scheduled the install (which was to take 1 day), were told they would be out b/t 9-10am. 2 of the 3 young men arrived at 10:30 am. I was told the lead, Jeremy, was running late. Apparently without a lead, the other employees are just paid to unload the supplies, work at molasses speed & take multiple cigarette breaks. When Jeremy did arrive, work actually began to happen & they busted out the job. BTW this was a "floating" floor, so they did not have to rip up the old one, just install the new one over it. As their work day ended, I was informed that the transition strips were backordered, but they would have them in a few days and would call us when they arrived. Because the job was not complete, I chose to not make final payment in the thought-we won't be a priority if they've already been paid in full, which Jeremy agreed with. After no call for a week, I called them to inquire about the strips. I spoke with Kathy (office manager??) who informed me that the strips had come in, but they weren't happy with the color & sent them back. OK, but why not call & let us know this??? Another 2 wks. pass with no communication from VDF, my husband called to check the status & was told they were in & scheduled for them to come out a day or 2 later to install them. Again, why do we need to call them??? Jeremy & another young man arrives when scheduled & shortly after informs me that they didn't send him with enough strips to complete the task. This is where things really get to the point when you have to wonder how this business is still open.... Jeremy tells me that they are going to go back to the shop & check to see if there is more available. If not, he personally will drive out to their supplier (I believe he said it was in Elk Grove Village) and get more so that he can finish this job today. I asked him to have someone call me when he got back to the shop to let me know if I was waiting for him to come right back or if he indeed had to make the trip to the supplier & I could go into work and get some things taken care of. After no phone call & no return of them after 30 min (the shop is 10min. from our house), I left & went to work. Probably another week passes & I get a call to finish the job. Jeremy arrives (on a Friday) & is unable to install the strips b/c of issues with the track & thickness of our carpet. He tells me that he needs to get strips of wood to install under the track to lift it higher. He tells me that he will return that evening at 5:30p.m. and leaves a small mess of material on the kitchen floor where he was working (the strips, carpet strips that he removed, etc.). Now, I know you'll be surprised here...but, he didn't return that evening, and again NO PHONE CALL! 2 days later (Sunday afternoon), he called & asked if he could come out & finish the job, which FINALLY happened. I was out of town, and my husband was on the phone when he was finished. My husband, obviously as frustrated as I have become with this, told him he was busy with the phone call & would stop in during the week to finish payment on the invoice. A week passes & got busy with life & our business and hadn't gotten over to the shop to make that payment. And yes, wanted to make it in-person to discuss our unhappiness with the service we received. In a matter of 24 hrs. we received a total of 5 phone calls from Kathy at both our business & home requesting final payment. 5 PHONE CALLS IN 24 HRS, beyond insulting! Especially, when we didn't receive 5 phone calls from this company in the 5 WEEKS it took to finish a job that was suppose to take 1 DAY!! We will never do business with this company again, I'm not sure I've experienced such unprofessional & subpar customer service from a business.
