Our 7-year-old was here for a week this past summer. This camp seems to have a SimCity/Lego crossover thing going on, which I can totally get behind. Every day my daughter would talk about adding new buildings and bringing home a score sheet summarizing the state of her town (population, approval rating, money in the treasury, complaints and accolades from the townspeople). I came in one morning to find some escaped criminals holding up little speech bubbles. Looking around at all the little towns, there were some seriously impressive structures. After the week I downloaded Cities: Skylines (the computer game) and am looking forward to playing it.

They seemed to really enjoy the civics nature of the building and telling me about why they had built particular structures to help their town. I was quite impressed by this camp that it turned out to be a great learning experience. I highly recommend it! I was a bit concerned when I signed up that this would be a mostly boy camp -- my daughters had some girl friends there with them and I noticed a few other girls there who we did not know. It seems like @ 30-40% girls that week, in case you are wondering. Though it didn't really make a difference as they work in small teams anyway.

She's patient, supportive, and takes the time to make sure everyone is comfortable with what we're learning. What stands out most is her hands-on, real-world approach to teaching. She prepares us for what to expect in an actual dental office, which has really helped build my confidence. It's clear she genuinely cares about her students and their success. I'm grateful to be learning from her. The homework load was not stressful for me. Learning with the other students has been so much fun. I highly recommend this school to anyone who'd like a future in dental assisting. If you'd like to be a dental receptionist, this school teaches you all the dental terminology. It's great for both! You also get a nice pair of scrubs, and your BLS (CPR) certicate included!!! I was nervous about changing careers. After a few weeks here, my confidence for my future has skyrocketed. Thank you Smile Academy!

Before the program I had a challenging time speaking my truth from my heart with people I felt might not be safe. Now I can have difficult conversations with an open heart rather than needing to be protective or defensive. My general confidence has improved immensely, and so has ability to pause instead of saying "um," my vocal variety and use of hand gestures. I love how deep it was, especially the part where we connected with our core values and spoke from that place of authenticity. It's powerful! This program is not at all just about public speaking, it's about giving you tools and techniques to live a much fuller life whether you're with an authority figure, a team, in an interview, on stage, or with a loved one . I loved it so much, I just asked Lynn, "What will it take to be part of your team?"

I never feared public speaking, I feared speaking without preparation. I felt confident when I had…read moretime to think things through, but if I was calleyyd on spontaneously, I froze. My inner critic would chime in: "You're rambling! You're not making sense! Hurry up!" And just like that, I'd lose my train of thought and sound anything but clear or confident. As someone pursuing speaking more seriously, I knew I had to get past this. I joined a local Toastmasters club, which helped with structure and delivery techniques, but it didn't get to the root. I didn't need to memorize a speech. I needed to feel confident grabbing the mic with no idea what I'm going to say, and still pack a punch with my message. I met Lynn when she stopped by my local Toastmaster club as a guest speaker. By the end of her workshop, I was speaking freely, no notes, no rehearsals. In less than an hour, she got me to trust myself, and my message came across clear and resonate. So, I joined her Level 1 course. I'll be honest, at first, I was hesitant. The exercises were simple, even a little "woo-woo" and I doubted if it would really change me. We practiced looking in the mirror to say affirmations. We marched around chanting, "I don't know what I'm going to say, but it's going to be great!" and various other fun things! But it worked. Week by week, those small practices paired with real speaking challenges rewired my brain. This class brought me to tears countless times. In 4 weeks, I grew more confident, more self-assured. For the first time, I believed that I could do this. I could trust that I knew what I wanted to say and didn't have to rely on perfect preparation to say it, and say it well. Lynn created an extremely safe, low-pressure container, that feels easy to do, yet the internal shifts and changes are monumental. Everyone in the class went from unsure, to confident. Our last session was so powerful. The new-found authority in the room was palpable. It also happened to fall on my birthday. The group, who by then felt like family, surprised me with a cake and a song. So nice! Lynn teaches from the heart. Her approach gently unearths the root of fear. A month later, I'm still applying what I learned. I'm leading meetings more clearly, toasting at dinner, raising my hand to speak, looking myself in the mirror with kindness before judgement, and, most importantly, trusting myself more than ever. If you want to uncover what's holding you back and try simple yet powerful tools to break through it, Lynn's class is a safe and transformative place to start. I highly recommend!

Per requirement for my new job @ Stanford in Palo Alto as a OR Department Aide, I registered for a BLS/ CPR course here ( which is AHA certified) , coincidentally on Presidents Day . To begin with, the parking situation and availability is extremely accessible and easy to locate.... There is a parking garage with plenty of space, as well, there is accessible spots curbside around and close to the main building. All & all, my overall experience and in my personal perspective/ opinion, everything went extremely smooth, and I walked away with a smile and a positive feeling.... When you enter the main entrance at the 1900 building, you simply go straight to the elevator, and turn left on the first floor of course, and the classroom is right there on your right - room # 150. The moment you arrive, there is a reception desk, which I was greeted by our instructor: Kaaren. There a restrooms and vending machines close by when needed. As well, I was pleasantly told when I arrived, there was tea and coffee and fridge close by. Basically, the classroom was comfortable, adequate size, and there is large outdoor attractive patio on your left.... Between the combination of slides/ video , hands - on equipment, and your instructor , the three- hour course was extremely enjoyable , pleasant, and without and pressure whatsoever. Besides my personal overall experience, all aspects of this fairly new course/ location are pleasant and relaxing. I highly recommend registering for your required CPR class right here. I'm very confident you will be happy and pleased with your experience . Lastly , I would like to give props and my personal referral and thanks to our INSTRUCTOR: Kaaren.... She was nothing shy of extremely pleasant and informative. She was a positive spirit, from the get go as I entered the suite. She as many years experience as an EMT, and several years as an instructor. She positively and plainly made the course extremely enjoyable and calm and easy... Please inquire regarding this course, you won't be disappointed, guaranteed! Thanks Kaaren, you're the best! God bless you...
